General Info
This surgery was acquired by Best Friends 2001 and although it operates as a totally separate surgery is complimented by the Shenfield surgery nearby.
The practice comprises waiting area, 2 consultation rooms, prep-room, theatre, laboratory and kennels. It is fully equipped and completes the majority of surgery cases on the premises.
Equipment includes x-ray with processor, isoflurane, pulse oximeter, biochemistry & QBC analysers, microscope etc.
Opening Times Mon – Fri: 9am – 7pm Sat: 9am – 12am Sun: Closed

Now it has a permanent vet on site that does exotics I'm very happy. A little on the pricey side but it's the only vet in Brentwood so would be.

All the staff have changed here since we last went which was only a few months ago, and are quite rude all they seem interested in is getting your money. They used to be joined with Wylies vets in Upminster for emergencies and out of hours now it's a vets in Ilford and they told me it was 160 just for a consultation and kept pestering us about going even though we had spoken to a vet at Wylies and had been told to see how he gets on. The vet is sooooooo kind, I went because my Fred (Chinchilla) was poorly - I personally think he'd had a stroke as his back leg wasn't working very well. But he did an x-ray and luckily nothing was broken, went back a couple of weeks later as he wasn't feeding very well, even his treats, the vet was surprised how poorly he'd become as upset as I was still he gave me all the options, but let it be my choice and 1 last try made up some food 2 syringe feed - but unfortunately he passed away the middle of that nite on me....Read Less

1st of all I just want to apologise to Patricia for this review because she is a kind genuinely caring vet. However I am disgusted by this veterinary practice and their overall headquarters (Best Friends Veterinary Group), their management structure and owner - Andrew Bennett. In essence their bad practices and poor non-working equipment led to the death of my beloved pet cat. This has had a devastating affect on our lives. They then charged me a fortune for it. I have engaged through their management structure who failed to hit any deadlines and constantly refused to address my concerns, however, having finally got to the owner (via their finance manager as he would not direct contact me) I can see why their slack attitude exists, because his is the same. How he did not personally ring me given the concerns I had, given the attitude of his staff the way we were treated and cheated out of money I do not know. He clearly does not care, once he has the money it's all done and dusted for him. He gave me the most pathetic response then said we are not longer corresponding with you - this took nearly 4 months to achieve! I am now forced to engage with all regulatory boards and explore my legal actions because of a management structure and owner who do not care and cannot see the obvious. I am furious and disgusted by their responses. I recommend, that if you care about your pet, you do NOT visit any of their branches EVER. The standard of cleanliness in the surgery and the back rooms is also very low, its quite disgusting. I am happy to share more details of what has happened with anyone with concerns. I am happy to share all correspondence as well so that you can see how poor it is. I will now continue to explore then engage with all the avenues open to me. I will not stop my fight to ensure people know the direction this vet group is given by its owner and the poor practices and equipment they have in place that their customers rely on to potentially save their pets lives. Mine is dead because of this! DO NOT USE THIS VETS or ANY VETS PART OF BEST FRIENDS!!! my first visit to Orchid vets. One of my hens Grace became ill whilst I was on holiday. I was given an immediate appointment, and Grace was given a thorough examination lasting half an hour, by William Lewis who was very kind and helpful. showed me how to administer medicine orally, and Grace is now 100% fit and happy. Never was the suggestion made that as it was only a hen why not put her down, she was treated as though she was an expensive pedigree.If you have poultry or any animal, you will receive fantastic service from all the staff here Read Less

Our new puppy, with us just a few days, became rather ill. Rang surgery at 6:20 and Charlotte gave us an appointment for 6:45. Due to bad traffic we arrived five minutes after the surgery was due to close - amazing, they waited for us. Brilliant vet, very kind, very attentive, treated puppy with two injections. Didn't rush us, explained everything, documented treatment. Absolutely brilliant, hope my NHS doctors read this, they don't deliver care this good for humans. Read Less

All the staff have changed here since we last went which was only a few months ago, and are quite rude all they seem interested in is getting your money. 1st of all I just want to apologise to Patricia for this review because she is a kind genuinely caring vet. Due to bad traffic we arrived five minutes after the surgery was due to close - amazing, they waited for us. Brilliant vet, very kind, very attentive, treated puppy with two injections. Didn't rush us, explained everything, documented treatment. Absolutely brilliant, hope my NHS doctors read this, they don't deliver care this good for humans. Read Less
