However if you want a prescription to take away you will be charged excessively for just the paperwork to prevent you from doing so. Tha...

Online prices are 66% cheaper.
However if you want a prescription to take away you will be charged excessively for just the paperwork to prevent you from doing so. That is after a consultation fee of £62 for something you already know your dog needs, but a vet can only prescribe after a consultation.
I wasn't told of the costs until I reach the counter and didn't know how much I was overpaying until I looked up the drugs after. I wasn't offered the opportunity to refuse the medication, or given any options.
No costs shown online.
20% more expensive for a consultation, than another local veterinary practice.

Disgusted with the service today , I’ve been with arc for many years . I took my very poorly cat there today he needed emergency treatment but was told if I opted for this treatment I would need to collect him and take him over town to the emergency vet to be treated overnight then collect in the morning and brought back and continue this throughout his treatment, I felt this is far to much to put a very sick animal through so decided the kindest thing was to have him put to sleep , my family and I are devised, I feel that things have become very one sided and expensive, little care and top money . I shall be moving all my pets to another vet .

Been at The Ark for more than 25 years and they were wonderfully caring. Now it's different. Telephoned after my very elderly dog had a stroke and they cared more about immediate payment ( i didn't owe any money) than her condition.
Made it clear they wouldn't see her if i needed any instalment plan (i didn't have one before!) What happens to poor creatures if their people can't access money straight away? So much for compassion!!
Vet was fine, gave steroid shot etc. It was the attitude of money before animal that shocked me. Wonder if it was taken over by the Penrose Group!! Am now trying to find a new, kinder veterinary practice

We have been with this practice for 20 years. We were always please with the caring and professional service until now. We had cause to take our dog in as he appears to be unwell and not himself. Blood tests were done and nothing was found. A food change was suggested and was sold a bag at a huge cost, and asked to phone back on the Friday with an update, we did this but the vet never called back, we again called Monday and again the vet never called back. We are so concerned about our dogs health we have changed to another practice. I have since found out the previous owner has retired and it is now owned by a large company. So the personal touch has gone focusing on money and not the well-being of the animals.

I have used the ark for many years and this review has nothing to do with their ability as vets or prices. I went in today as I was concerned about a stitch showing from an old op to be told it was nothing. I was not charged. What did upset me was the comment “what was today about, wanted company”. This type of comment has angered me greatly. I am not vetinary trained, and mocking customers that pay your way is no way to conduct business. Needless to say I have changed vets

We have been with this practice for 20 years. We were always please with the caring and professional service until now. We had cause to take our dog in as he appears to be unwell and not himself. Blood tests were done and nothing was found. A food change was suggested and was sold a bag at a huge cost, and asked to phone back on the Friday with an update, we did this but the vet never called back, we again called Monday and again the vet never called back. We are so concerned about our dogs health we have changed to another practice. I have since found out the previous owner has retired and it is now owned by a large company.
