Have had a bad 6 weeks with my dogs, 6 weeks ago dog one had a problem on a Thursday evening, So phoned vet at approx. 6.45 told to phone emergency vet at Colchester as we are closing shortly. Upon ringing Colchester the first thing the female who answered asked is do you know the charge for us seeing your animal here? Husband said no was told £150.00 and any treatment is extra on top. Well we could not afford that so managed the problem until the next day ourselves and then sought help. Now come this week Tuesday and thank God it was a Tuesday dog number two collapsed whilst out walking early morning. Husband phoned our son who came and got her home by now time was 6.45 really needed to see a vet there and then. But that would mean going to Colchester and paying through the nose to be seen, Got her to vets at 8,50 and vet said either a stroke or a blood clot, I am no vet but I had already worked that out for myself. However that warranted a consultation fee, Son was asked to assist by holding an oxygen mask by the dogs face. Son said dog was on oxygen for 5 minutes oxygen had no effect. Cost on the bill £38.00 just for the oxygen. Wonder if should bill Kinfauns for my sons input. As would have thought at that price the vet had an assistant standing by. Well we have one dog left now and after her no more. Have always had rescue dogs but as my dogs were 13 and 12 no insurance wants to know them past age 10. I get a little peeved reading about us vets are all dog lovers, Yes and how nice that your chosen career is so lucrative for you. When I first moved here 5 years ago was told Kinfauns did PDSA work so enquired to be told. We had to stop it we were losing too much money. Would have thought real animal lovers would operate some scheme within their area to assist people who take in a rescue pet but no nothing. Finally almost laughed when I phoned today to ask what an annual booster injection cost is now. Told £46.60 and that includes a free health check. I said it is not free. So will take my remaining dog back to where I took her last year for her booster where used to live cost £25.00 last year. Doubt price has gone up much since last year. If some can provide boosters at that price why not others. Read Less

Just wanted to say thank you to services given to us on Friday. Unfortunately we had to have our beautiful Smokey cat put to sleep due to being very, very sick. The staff were very kind and allowed me to spend time with my precious kitty before I finally said goodbye.Read Less

Huge thank you to Caitlin for all her help with the aftercare of our crazy pup Dobby - he had routine surgery which went well, but for various reasons complications occurred afterwards. Caitlin has been amazing, Dobby adores her!!! After many visits over the past month he still drags me out to the car if I say 'shall we go see Caitlin?'!!!! I have used kinfauns for a few years now, am having to change vets! Am appalled on lack of care for the pets! Very upset! My dog has been to the vets about 6 times for the same thing and keep getting fobbed off with more cost, tabs finally worked, I phoned for more and was told to make an appt, I explained I can't afford another appt, has cost me 100's in misdiagnosed treatments, to then get told "good luck, hope she doesn't get worse"! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to vet Karyn and all the team at Kinfauns for looking after my beautiful Homey today. Unfortunately we had to have her out to sleep this afternoon. It was absolutely heart breaking to let her go, but Karyn and the team done all the could to support us and make it as peaceful as possible for our girl. They even let our other two dogs in to say goodbye. Thank you so so much. I have been dreading this day, but your kindness helped to make it that little bit more bearable. We can't thank you enough. Unfortunately one of our cats had an incident with a car, he was taken in, from a passer bye? Fortunately for us our cats are chipped (they do work), we were away at the time, the vets kept in contact more than twice a day, even being overseas, even at weekends, this is an outstanding vets for us, and they have been so understanding, even though one of or kids passed out seeing him for the first time, info overload!! He suffered a broken jaw, head injuries n loss of vision, the jaw has been adjusted, n Vision were still waiting?? But omg he can climb stairs up n down, chairs, any thing in his way he tries to over come n even knows where the food is n the litter tray!
