Worst so called vets we have ever used. i actually regret leaving my old vets to come here and these were recommended by a friend. Firstly, prescriptions each month, we need a printed prescription every month and we give them 10 days notice to get it ready so i can order my dogs medication online. Every month I'm chasing them for it because they drag their heels and do it when they feel like it. Again this month it's the same, i put in a prescription request a week ago (11/11/2023), on Wednesday (15th) i had a call to say they were doing the prescription and could give as much cardalis as i wanted as it doesn't need a prescription.....i checked and it does from anywhere you get it online so shows how much they actually know as "vets". Hadn't heard anything else by friday so i contacted them again, their excuse was - "Unfortunately our repeats are backed up at the moment so they are taking longer than usual. We are currently working on trying to get everything done as quickly as possible. We apologise for the delay in this. This has been passed on to the vet to put up for you. As soon as this is ready we will contact you." I have responded that it was an excuse if ever i heard one and I've heard alot, that they've had a week and still its not been done and that it's not good enough. Seeing as they have the nerve to charge £21.90 per printed prescription aswell yet drag their heels in actually getting it sorted, how hard is it to print paper and sign it, apparently quite difficult? i think it's an absolute disgrace. It's FINALLY ready today (20/11/2023) absolutely disgraceful. Secondly, for over a year we have been back and forth regarding skin issues with our dog, the so called vets claimed they have "never seen anything like it" and claimed it was mange, which is wasn't and isn't. They got fed up eventually and said just take her home and she would pass peacefully......she still has alot of life left in her yet. Thirdly, the very unhelpful attitude of staff when, back in may, i was in excruciating pain and couldn't walk, let alone drive to go and get the printed prescription. I asked if they could send it to me, they refused and said they couldn't and i would have to collect. I repeatedly told them i was unable too at that time. Eventually after about half hour of back and forth they said they would send it out to me and had the nerve to charge £6 for that. I paid it but only because i had no other option of getting it. Fourth, as mentioned our dog has skin issues, we FINALLY saw a vet who said it was atopic dermatitis and advised us ehat we could try to help it. This was yet another locum vet, we have never seen the same vet, it's always a different one and always a locum. Fifth, the only time our dog has had a medication review was last month (October 2023) after being on medication since December 2021. Our dog also nearly died because of the lack of medication review and she had medication that over time was slowly killing her, luckily i figured out what it was just in time before it did. Sixth, our dog has lost alot of weight since December 2021, the vets haven't been concerned by this. I am and have been the whole time. They just wanted to get her in and put her through all manner of tests, i said no. Our dog is elderly and it wouldn't be fair on her and secondly we don't have the money to do it and i wouldn't even contemplate it at her age. Would i recommend this "vets"? Absolutely not. They are incompetent and need to be shut down. I seriously question whether any of the "vets" we have seen actually went to college and university to become a vet. Read Less

Every month i put in an order for our dogs medication including how many days are left in the email and every month we have to ring up chasing it up because they haven't bothered to do it until they see fit, usually the day it runs out they bother but usually claim when we ring to chase up why we haven't heard anything from them about it being ready, we get the excuse that "the vet hasn't signed it off". Not good enough. They had 7 - 10 days notice each month yet the "service" was ridiculous! We also asked for a prescription for the medication and the receptionist claimed she didn't know what we meant and then when they gave up on that they gave us a load of bull about the vet needing to sign off on it and that they charge £20 just for a prescription print of. Then she said put in the prescription print off request the following month when we order again. That's what i did, i emailed over what we needed and requested a print off. This was ignored completely. When we rang to find out again why we hadn't heard about it being dispatched, they gave the excuse they hadn't recieved the email. Which was and still is, in my sent folder so just another excuse! They hurriedly got some tablets ready as she ran out that day and i picked them up and said to request the print off prescription the following month (which would have then been dec 2022) i said no i want it this month as i requested it, so they did it. Doesn't take 5 minutes to print something off and get it signed by the vet! (20/3/2023) - 4 days just to get a printed prescription from them which is an absolute joke, doesn't take 5 mins to print something off and get it signed. Again added repeats to it but it is a controlled drug so I need a prescription every month which I sent the screenshot of months ago and they just ignored that. They seem to do what they feel like and drag their heels alot until it suits them. Maybe if they employed more vets instead of using locums constantly then they may actually be effective! Wouldn't recommend at all and they were recommended to us from a friend. Read Less

Reading previous reviews regarding this practise concerning pricing I can only agree. I sent a photo of Our Dog Bensons anal gland ailment to the surgery and received a five minute telephone consultation from a Vet who recommended Antibiotics and painkillers for this I was charged the grand total of £40, nice work if you can get it, but they are paid for what they know and not so much what they do. I did enquire as to the cost for the medication but was told that she could not give a price as she was not at a computer, when I arrived to collect and pay for the prescription it became obvious why she was reluctant to give a figure..........£176.48 including the consultation, I found this unbelievable and made a point of letting the Surgery know. Because my dog was in pain I felt it would be prudent to take the medication and argue the toss afterwards. I believe that the practice know that you require the medication urgently and make you pay for this with inflated prices, rather than you paying for the prescription then waiting a couple of days from a reputable on line Vet. I will list the medication below: Onsior tablets: Vet UK 0.78p each Your Vets £2.86 Antibiotics Vet UK £1.26 Your Vets £3.49 Your Vets Antibiotics Synuclave Vet UK Synolux, both the same active ingredients. The Prescription charge would be a £17 but overall Your Vets £74.58 more expensive, are they taking advantage? In my opinion yes. Overall my advice would be, do not use! Read Less

We have used Your Vets for several years and have to say never been totally happy. Never seem to see the same vet and prices seem high. However after our last episode I will never use them again. I feel ripped off our poor dog needed an operation but we could not get a date for it from them. Made a complaint and they actually phoned me at 8pm on Christmas Eve to discuss it then no further responses till I followed it up again. Went to another vet who did the operation within 48hrs and had great follow up care. My message is avoid and go to a local independent vet. Read Less

Just a follow up on my dog Maggie's condition - happy Maggie on the 23 January 2020 having a lay in - 9 months after Your Vets wanted to put her to sleep. They are stating now that it could have been slug pellets that had caused the problem so why did they not listen to me first of all - charged an exorbitant rate for a very poor service and little Maggie is living proof and is not on any painkillers of any sort and is perfectly happy - so make your own mind up. On the early evening of Friday 31 May I took Maggie, my miniature Jack Russell, to the Your Vets, Rayleigh because she had suffered, late that afternoon, what I thought was a fit and was left shaking and panting. The vet gave her a thorough check over including a thorough inspection of her abdomen, to which Maggie showed no signs of pain, and said that she could hear a heart murmur. She recommended that we leave Maggie overnight for tests and they would contact us Saturday morning with the results. On the Saturday morning at approximately 7.30 a.m I received a call from the vets saying that Maggie had had a comfortable night and that they would contact me later that morning with the results of the tests. I then received a telephone call from the vet Roberta who informed me that they had carried out an ultrasound and x-rays as well as blood tests and that they had found, through the results of those tests, that Maggie had an enlarged heart with a murmur and a large mass attached to her enlarged liver which was probably cancer and that there was nothing they could do – she did not recommend a biopsy as too much of the liver was affected and it was not possible to do any sort of transplant on animals. She said that the only option was to put her to sleep. I told her that I would speak to my partner and call her back as soon as possible. Arrangements were then made for us to attend the practice that evening. When My partner and I attended the surgery that evening we met with Tim as we were told, Roberta had left for the day. We discussed the results of Maggie’s tests and mentioned that our other dog Jazz had been taken ill a few hours after Maggie and was suffering from sickness and diarrhoea. She had been ill all Friday night and most of Saturday so now we have 2 dogs ill, I said that we were going to bring her to the vet if she did not improve but by the time I attended the vets she was slowly improving and the sickness and diarrhoea had stopped. I asked if it was possible that they had both eaten something that had upset them. I explained that my partner had put down some “pet safe” slug pellets the night before at the back of the garden, if the dogs had eaten any this could that have caused the problem – he said that slug pellets could cause fits but did not think that this had anything to do with Maggie. Maggie was brought out to see us and we spent some time with her. I asked how did he know she was in pain as I could not understand she had shown no signs of pain leading up to this as I know my dog. I have my dog with me most of the time for the last 13 years and I must lift her in and out of trucks and other things many times aday, I lift her at arms length up boat ladders ect and she has never shown any signs of pain. I was told that’s the way things go and she is shaking he replied. I replied as soon as I pull up outside the vets she starts shaking until the time she comes out again. I think that other pet owners will relate to this. He then suggested to put her down at this time. I could not get my head round this and asked whether we could take Maggie home for the evening and bring her back the next morning to which he replied that she was on maximum strong pain relief and unfortunately that was not managing her pain and they had therefore put her on morphine. We were unable to take her home because he said they could not provide adequate pain relief for us to take home and administer. We agreed therefore to leave her overnight. We said that we would phone in Sunday morning to make arrangements to come back Sunday. On Sunday lunchtime we met again with Roberta at the practice. I said that I could not understand why this was all so sudden – Maggie had shown no signs of being ill and, up to Friday afternoon, had never had a day’s illness, apart from a few warts, due to her age, and having her teeth cleaned she had only ever attended the vets for her yearly check-up and vaccinations. I again asked how do you know she is in pain and was told by Roberta - I know when a dogs in pain and she is shaking. I again explain she has shown no signs of pain until now and always shakes when in a vets. I also so said again that my other dog has been unwell and they could have eaten some slug pellets but it went on deaf ears. I explained that before we did anything we wanted to spend some time with Maggie. We asked to take Maggie home for a few hours. Roberta was not too happy and said that she felt we were being cruel in our decision but she finally agreed. She said that she would give Maggie another dose of morphine which would last until six o’clock and we should return Maggie to be put down at that time as, once the medication wore off Maggie, would again be in unmanageable pain. I took Maggie home and noticed that gradually over the afternoon she became more aware of what was going on around her. As the drug wore off she started to slowly walk about, then she started to eat and drink and by 6.00 o’clock she was walking around the garden with the other dogs, albeit a lot slower than she would usually have done, due to the medication but was showing no signs of pain or distress. I decided then to keep her for the evening and to my surprise, once the drugs wore off, she continued to improve, more and more as the evening wore on, she showed no signs of any pain or discomfort other than limping on the leg that still had the cannula inserted and was bandaged. I received a call from the vets requesting what time we were taking her back and I confirmed that we were keeping her for the evening and would return her immediately to the surgery. They were concerned about the cannula but I said that if she showed any signs of distress or pain I would take her straight to the surgery failing which we would return in the morning. I spent the night looking after Maggie. She had a quiet night with no pain or discomfort despite the facts that the drugs had now worn off. I telephoned the vets the next morning and made arrangements to attend the surgery to have the cannula removed and was shocked and disappointed by the reaction of Roberta who was not at all pleased and appeared to be angry that we were challenging her diagnosis. I showed her photographs of Maggie the previous evening walking around the garden, eating and drinking. We therefore asked her to remove the cannula in our presence so as not to stress Maggie. She said that I was not able to go into the hospital because of health and safety rules and so I suggested that she remove it in the surgery while I held Maggie. She did not appear pleased with this suggestion and stormed out of the surgery. She then returned a few minutes later and angrily removed the cannula and wrapped Maggie’s leg in a compression bandage stating that it should be removed in 40 minutes – she then left the surgery without any further discussion. I have been with this practice with my three dogs for over 10 years and in that time have unfortunately had to have my old boy put to sleep with Yourvets a few years ago. If I believed that Maggie was suffering I would have immediately agreed to let them put her to sleep as I would not want to see my baby girl suffer. This used to be a brilliant practice and all the staff seemed to care about the animals. I am not sure what has happened in the last year or so, maybe they should try to keep experienced vets so that they can get to know the animals they are treating and the animals get to know and trust the vet – there seems to be a never ending turnaround of new inexperienced vets and you never get to see the same vet twice in most cases. It appears that now it is just the money they care about. We have been overcharged for a extra night we did not have and pain relief we did not have. The costs involved was £1,200 for the two night stay and drugs that she was given that I now believe were unnecessary. To say I am disappointed in the practice and the vet involved is an understatement and I shall not be taking my pets to this practice again. By the way nearly 2 weeks later my dog Maggie is doing fine back to her old self running around having fun. She may not have long but while she is pain free and comfortable I will not be coerced into having her put down. also after 2 phone calls to them regarding the over charges we still have not had a reply Read Less

Edit - i have downgraded my prior review following a routine nail clipping for my dog. This should have been done at my prior visits, and promised that it would be, yet this was missed for the second time. Having needed to schedule a separate appointment today i was met with a vet who had poor customer focus, lack of interest and came across extremely unprofessional. I did not feel content to leave my pet with him even for such a simple task. Additionally, having not introduced himself he also failed to introduce the child who accompanied him into the room and who seemed to be observing. An abhorrent experience. The friendliness of the desk staff was the only positive. A good practice for the area and definitely worth utilising their discount club (pay monthly). Super friendly desk staff, clean areas and parking on site. Only issue comes from the appointment system; one has to book a slot but you are never seen at the time specified. Read Less

I have always taken my pets to your vets because they used to be great but they have gone so down hill. I recently had to take my poor rabbit in on the 24th of may because he stopped eating and pooing and he just wasn't himself, I had to wait for over half an hour to be seen and the vet I did see had no idea what he was doing he tipped up the cat carried up and through my rabbit out which stressed him out some more then he was messing around on the computer for ages still dealing with the previous client and his phone then started ringing. At the end of this consultation I was given antibiotics which he had to look up in a book what go give and still had no clue what was wrong with him, 2 days later he took a turn for the worst and had to be rushed in as an emergency throughout the day I hadn't received any phone calls about his progress when they said they would phone. Later that evening my rabbit passed away in there care I was devastated. I still have no clue what was wrong with him, they charged me over £300 for there incompetence if the first vet knew what he was doing he would have known that a rabbit not eating was serious and because of this I lost my poor baby rabbit and now you have lost a loyal customer with my 2 dogs and 1 other rabbit. I went here with my 17 yr old cat who is very nervous and was losing her fur. I waited An hour and the place was empty. The cat vet didn't seem to know what she was doing. Eventually took blood and told me her organs and temp were fine so I left and put my cat on a fish diet. Her fur started to grow back. I was so angry that they left us waiting so ling with an animal in a box all that time that is nervous of the vets like most are. It's cruel. I also went recently with my 9 wk old pup who had diahorea. Again she was in a box and another couple were comllaing about the wait. I spoke to reception who said there was one couple in front of me. I left and went to another vet. I don't think it's fair on the animals to keep them cooped up in boxes when they are ill for any length of time. I have not found a decent vet in rayleigh with reasonable parking which is y I went to this vet in the first place. Convenience. Would not recommend them. My pup is still ill. Read Less

Had an awful experience here! My poor cat suffered being taken in and out, poked and prodded for days and being sent home only to return her because they hadn’t found what was wrong with her. After days of stress on her and over a thousand pounds later, they found a heart tumour which resulted in her having to be put to sleep. Her last few days were horrible for her all, which could have been easily prevented if only they had taken an X-ray first. When the time came, I was reassured I would be allowed to say my goodbyes and I wouldn’t be rushed. I had nurses come in and repeatedly ask me “are you ready yet?”. Minutes after the procedure, a nurse had burst in with a card reader machine of course expecting us to pay up right there and then whilst me and my family are still crying huddled over, stroking our dead cat! Not only that, years prior this they had diagnosed my cat with kidney disease. During all this they tell me her kidneys are perfect and she hasn’t got KD at all! Read Less

Read Less
