Overnight my 11 year old yellow lab, lost the use of his back leg, causing it serious stress, he kept losing his balance was unable to stand. we even had to support him him to aid his basic bodily functions. I thought his days was over. But Alex the vet, resisted putting him down, and suggested a steroid injection, he felt this could aid his recovery. Well I am glad to say Alex was spot on. I took Buddy back home with me and there was no improvement for the rest of that day. The following morning, as far as I was concerned a miracle happened. He got up unaided went to the garden, did what dogs do, then he ate his breakfast and then returned to his sofa, with a look on his face, as if to say '''whats all the fuss about?''' Alex has made all my family plus friends who got to know about Buddy situation, extremely happy. So from us all a massive shout of THANKS to Alex the Best Friends Vet! Read Less

First problem occurred when we went in to check our dog for fleas as she was itching a lot. At the same time I asked whether the vet could show me how to empty her anal sacs as she was scooting. He immediately got a tissue and looked like he pushed his fingers at her rear end. Without looking at the tissue scrunched it up and put it in the bin. It was so incredibly brief that I doubt he did anything - no smell and nothing on tissue from what I could see. I thought that was weird and not what I wanted, but assumed he did it for free. At reception they charged me 20 for the pleasure in addition to the consultation charge and insisted that I paid for it now, but gave me an email address to complain.
I let it go that time without really following up, but the second time was too much. We asked for a prescription to be written for flea treatment by the same vet and have been advised by others that some vets could write repeating prescriptions so this is what I asked for. Their usual form did not seem to cater for this, but he wrote on the side that it is valid for 6 repeat prescriptions.
When we tried to use this, we were told that it was invalid and when we spoke to the receptionist onsite she kept saying that we wrote it ourselves and was extremely unhelpful. The hand writing and ink were the same as the rest of the form!
It costs them nothing to write another prescription and I would have happily accepted this or I would have settled if the receptionist was more of a human being and treated us with a bit more respect and empathy.
I did then complain about both of these situations, but was informed that as the vet had left there was nothing to be done and the receptionist has been advised. Overall, this situation has been very stressful and the outcome unsatisfactory. I would advise that you avoid at all costs as there are plenty of other vets to choose from.
I am now with another vet with much better receptionist, vets and prices. Read Less
