My beloved dog was euthanized at Medivet Gravesend recently, the most difficult decision I've made in my life, a blood test was suggested to see if anything could be done for him which I of course wanted, I left the room to stand outside the door and could here him struggling and panting, on returning I found him in a very distressed state with blood marks on his neck where the Vet had had two failed attempts to get the sample and she was preparing to have another stab at him... until I said no more, that is my lasting image of him, and it is very upsetting. I felt pressure to agree to have him put down, no blood test no treatment. She then put a catheter in his leg to euthanize him, it was not explained to me why this was needed, and has never happened with my pets before, yet more stress for him, after he died it would have been nice to be alone with him for a few minutes but this wasn't offered, instead I had to say goodbye sandwiched between the two staff, I felt I got no sympathy from the vet, (although I add that the nurse attending was without fault) and since this vets practice sold to medivet last year in general the care in my opinion had gone downhill, my dog was the world to me and a regular patient at this vets, almost weekly at the end, and each time I took him in I had to ask what they were treating him for and with when this information should have been freely given, I paid enough for the service after all. I would've liked my boy to have had a more dignified end, it was a shame the lead vet wasn't there, as I think it would've been more professional then. I got the standard card and forget me bit seeds but its all for show, all of our visits in haven't been met with any friendliness or concern, its all about the money. Out of interest This same vet a few months ago insisted on a blood test for our cat who'd hurt his leg, she had to do two needles full as she didn't take enough the first time, twice the stress, charged us well over £100 and then told us that the testing machine there wasn't that good or accurate, didn't give us a refund for this rubbish machine though, the pain killers made the cat ill and he got better with rest on his own, not long after by coincidence another of our cats hurt her leg we saw the lead vet this time and sure enough no blood test was needed, no fuss no bother. After I've collected my boys ashes next week I will not be using medivet again. And then they block me so I can't write a review on their site. See More Read Less
