What a shame - fantastic veterinary nurses, welcoming reception staff, the head nurse couldn't have been kinder to us, and I had excellent recommendion for Anat the female vet, but Ralph (vet), was rude to us to the point of unpleasantness which upset me for the evening - we arrived there 6.10pm for 6.15pm appointment, he snapped that he wanted to get away on the dot of 6.30pm and that we should have got an earlier appoinment as our dogs condtion may need longer - we didn't know that because we are not vets and not qualified to diagnose a dogs eye problem. Why have appts at 6.15pm if you are going to be so resentful and disrespectul to paying clients? Then Ralph suggested putting a muzzle on the dog which was fair enough - before we organised ourselves to do this, the very nice vet nurse came in, and took over (sensing maybe we were a bit nervous as our dog is a very badly treated rescue dog we've only had for 3 months so we probably came over as a bit hesitant) - Ralph then actually shouted at us for not taking responsibility for our dog, yet the veterinary nurse had stepped in to be kind, we hadn't asked her to and didnt expect her too. We were both shocked at his rudeness, I was extremely upset that evening. My son actually thought we had turned up without an appt due to Ralph snapping about him possibly being delayed. Its a shame as the rest of the staff were lovely, but this one persons unpleasantness towards us (and we are always polite and respectful) has made us not want to go there again, its not acceptable to treat people in this way. Found them to be good but quite cold - which I simply put down to professionalism. However I Decided to leave them when my dog was knocked over by a car. The vet in question tried to convince me to leave my dog overnight (alone in the dark in the cage with no night supervision) so that he could operate on his jaw the next day. The jaw was not broken. My dog had just been through a traumatic experience and his body did not need a general anaesthetic to contend with as well. We insisted on taking him home. He did not need an operation to put a metal wire in his jaw as it was not broken. The vet simply wanted to do it to “hold the cartilage together”. My dog healed perfectly well without an expensive and uneccessary operation and we promptly changed vet. Both my husband and I spoke to the vet and came away with the same suspicion that this operation was not in our dog’s interest but simply for ££££ On another occasion I asked the ladies at the reception if there was a particular insurance they recommended. I am always in a state of high anxiety by the time I arrive at the vets' after the stress of getting Figgy into his carrier and placating him all the way there. However, I can feel the tension start to ebb away from the moment I enter the bright, modern reception area at East Barnet Vets'. The service offered by all the staff, from receptionists to nurses to vets, is always friendly, efficient, professional and caring. I sense I am in good hands, and more importantly, Figgy does too. Everything in the way the surgery is run and the staff conduct themselves reassures me that the welfare of the animals is paramount. I pass many other surgeries to get there, but Figgy is worth it, and so is EBVS. Read Less

I enjoy bringing my cat Oscar here as the staff are always helpful and friendly, the interior and patio area is stunning! and you can see a lot of hard work, thought and effort has gone in to making this place a most welcoming experience which totally puts you at ease and so do all the caring vets and nurses. Evan if I move out of the area I shall continue bringing Oscar only to this place as this is by far the best veterinary surgery I have been to. I completely recommend bringing your pet here.
