Beware of this vet practice! ZERO STARS. We have a dog and usually use the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich, having had negative experiences of this place some years back - over-charging, lack of empathy and so on. We recently rescued a feral kitten and because of lockdown and no car decided to try this place again, perhaps over-optimistically thinking it may have improved over the past ten years. I sent them an email asking about price of vaccination, microchipping & spaying. It all sounded very reasonable and there was no mention of possible extra costs, which quotes from other vets did. So we went ahead with the vaccinations (my daughter took our kitten as I am currently shielding due to cancer) and apart from trying to seriously pressurise and guilt-trip her into buying their worming and flea treatments which we didn't need as we had already bought our own, it went well. Come the day of spaying, the operation went well, but when my daughter picked her up she was charged extra, she was told 1) because our kitten had apparently started ovulating (at 4 months) just as they operated, thus making the operation more complex 2) we were forced to buy a cone, which we could have supplied ourselves had we known beforehand. Regarding 1) we should have been told beforehand that this might be a possibility. We had budgeted very carefully for the spaying and this has set us back. The worst thing is I have now written to the vets twice and they have not replied at all. Very different to when we asked them to quote, when they answered within hours. Being transparent about costs up front is a basic trait of any ethical business and Brockwell Vets is definitely not one of them.

You did not have to take the buster collar if you already had one, it is optional and this is why it is not includded in the price. Some clients provide their own collar or t-shirt, there are different options to cover the wound. If it has not been used, please return it to us and we can credit it.

Will be finding a new vet immediately and will not recommend anyone to visit this vet. I suggest you get some professional training in people skills and communication. I expect the VCMS will be conducting an investigation shortly so best to get prepared.

Jenny and her staff have been very professional and effective providing the care of family cat for the last 10 years. Unfortunately our lovely Cat suffered a massive aortic thromboembolism a few days ago and we had to decide to put him down. All the staff at this vetanary practice were sensitive and looked after our cat and us in a very thoughtful way. Our daughter who is 14 years old was very fond of our beloved cat and decided to be present during the process of euthanasia. Our cat passed away very peacefully and we were able to hold him and be with him during this difficult time. The nurse of the clinic as well as the vets were exceptionally considerate and sensitive towards us. I would recommend this clinic as it has provided us with an excellent service.

We had to take our cat urgently for a consultation because he was having trouble breathing and his back legs were not working properly. We were treated incredibly well by the whole team - they assessed him really quickly, realised that he needed an urgent X-ray and diagnosed his problem in about 30 minutes. Sadly his condition was terminal and so, after discussion we decided to have him put to sleep. Out cat and ourselves were treated with the utmost respect throughout. During the procedure the vets explained everything that would happen and allowed things to progress at a pace that was comfortable for all of us. The team made something that should have been terribly traumatic something that was calm, gentle and dignified. We are so grateful for their support and calm expertise and cannot not thank them enough

I don't often write reviews, but I wanted to share the fantastic treatment my dear dog received from all at Brockwell Vets. Harper suffered from diabetes and from the moment of her diagnoses Jenny the head vet looked after Harper's needs in every way possible, from explaining to me her owner the whole experience of being an owner to a diabetic dog, through to emergency treatment when she needed it, & even phone calls from Jenny when she was on holiday, to ask how my dog was doing. I 100% trusted Jenny and the wonderful Nurse Joanna with my beloved dogs treatment, all the staff at Brockwell got to know us both very well. Jenny looked after Harper from 12 weeks old until she sadly passed away last week at nearly 11 years old. The care & huge support from everyone at Brockwell Vets for both of my dogs and myself as their owner was seconded to none, I would highly recommend them and most certainly register any future pets I have again with them. Thank you Brockwell Team for everything. xx

I don’t live in the area and searched google for vets close to me as I’m at work I have a working dog (a Belgian malinor which they didn’t even have in there system). I arrived and booked in, they asked me to take a seat so I looked around to see the only seat they had on show to be taken. Not a problem I took myself towards the other end of the shop (as it’s not a practice it’s set up like a pet shop) to find a chair hidden behind some racking. I sit down amoungst all the bags of food, in which I was subjected make my WORKIING DOG sit and lay down like a good boy which he did until people came over to look at food on the shelves. Leaning over him and his eyes becoming a thret, in what he is trained for so he barks and gets agitated as some one has invaded his personal space.. i then go into the see the vet as some one has already reviewed on here rudimentary knowledge at best, and has obviously never operated round a working dog as she then gets her phone out and shoves it in his face to take a photo of his injury

I've been going to see Jenny for over three years now since moving to the area and always found her to be very helpful, kind and caring. Our cat hates going to the vet and isn't particularly forthcoming with treatment, but Jenny always does a great job of getting everything done as quickly and painlessly as possible. I'll be continuing to go to Brockwell Vets whilst we live in the area and recommend her to anyone!

I wish to thank Jenny and her team for the excellent care they provided to my dog from the very beginning (as it was an emergency) to the very end, when we popped in to remove the staples.
For anybody who values honest and professional care I truly recommend the Brockwell Veterinary Surgery. All the doubts I had were explained, even over the phone when I called. I think we were really lucky to find the surgery, plus the costs were only a quarter of how much we would have to pay elsewhere.
I was left with the strong impression that they care more about the animals welfare than money which was very pleasant and refreshing.
I wish there would be more places with such a strong ethics.

So happy with the price and treatment st broecleell vets! My dog neeeded to be spade due to having pyometra! It was an emeregenct op and my current vet wanted 1500 to do the operation as my insurance had ran out. I couldn't afford it but the owner/vet (Jenny) at brockwell was willing to do it for less than an 1/3 of the price and the op went really well and my dogs back to being her self...... largely thanks to Jenny and the team at brockwell vets.

Jenny has been our family vet for a very long time. We trust her as she has treated our pets for small and big complaints and we are very grateful for her care.The part-time vets are lovely too. I was not going to write this review because all the people I know in Herne Hill have Jenny as their vet but I was astonished about some of the negative posts. They look like they have been written for a difcerent place and not for the Brockwell Vets that we know and love. It makes you wish there was some kind of regulation of the reviews. I strongly recommend Brockwell Vets to all pet lovers even if you live far away!

*DO NOT USE* Appalled by this vet's lack of care and attention. After finally finding a vets that stocks versican for my puppy's follow injection, I booked in for an appointment. Firstly the place looked a lot grubbier and dirtier than any other vets that I had visited.
When we went through to have the injections, a treat was put in front of her next to the needle and two round metal lids that were a similar size and shape to the treats. Whilst speaking to the vet, I noticed that Betsy was chewing something that was making a crackling sound instead of a crunch. She had eaten one of the metal lids.
The vets reaction? Concern? Advice about how to monitor our pup? Reassurance she would be ok? No none of these. She told me I should be worried and branded my ten week puppy a 'crazy dog'! Any idiot knows that puppies will chew and eat anything and for a vet to say it was crazy is actually crazy itself.
She gave me no advice about anything including when I could actually let my dog go outside. In fact all she seems bothered about was money and trying to upswell all of her worming and flea treatment. No wonder it was so easy to get a quick appointment.

I have been using this practice for 8yrs after having had a range of bad experiences in other practices. The service is truly exceptional, they are really taking excellent care of my pets and they also run an emergency service which I have had to use a couple of times . I do not know of any other vets in the area that see their clients out of normal hours. They are really attentive, pragmatic and will be honest with their diagnosis and your options at prices that would be lower than what you would expect to pay. I have recommended them to all my friends.

The low ratings of this practice seem harsh but after my own experience at this practice , I understand why. The vets' skills are rudimentary at best and there is no compassion or concern for the animals. Cat owners beware! The main motivation is making money and this is done in whichever way possible. The premises are shabby and need a good clean. Not the sort of place you would associate with treatment and care of animals.
Find another vet, there are plenty that are kind and competent.

I have taken my cats here for almost 20 years. The practice has become more commercial of late and possibly less personal than it was when I first went there, yet the service is still perfectly good and the team are more than adequately competent. I think the advice always has to be the same regardless of the vet: if you don't have insurance, costs can spiral so just be sure you understand and agree to any treatments that are recommended for your pet. In my experience with Brockwell Vets, I have always been sure that the wellbeing of the patient is foremost in the team's minds.

Great veterinary practice, we feel lucky to have such an excellent team of vets and nurses close by. We always receive excellent caring. They always explain very clearly what the problem is and offer sound advice and after treatment service with regular updates as to how my cat is recovering. All the staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I have recommended this practice to many of my friends and family and will continue to do so.
Loved the location too, dropped in on my way to work and then picked them up on my way home:)

I was looking after myfriend's dog and when he started screaming in pain and shaking his head after a walk in the park, I rang the vet, who saw me straight away. It was 9:30pm. She opened up only for me, as they were close and the place was spotless. The vet was kind and helpful. She put him to sleep because he wouldn't let her near him. She retrieved a grass seed that had gone right down his ear, When he woke up, he was backto his normal happy.The charges were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place.

I have just moved in the area and I had to bring my 3 years old cat for a consultation to the Brockwell veterinary surgery due to some issues with his eating.
Firstly the atmosphere and smell inside the surgery and shop are enough to put anyone off!
Secondly i had no trust that the vet had a clue what they were doing, she was more like a gp rather than a veterinarian. Was afraid to touch my cat and was unable to use her "skills" to carry out a successful consultation, i had to weigh him she couldn't even do that!
Finally the upselling of flea, worming, antibiotics (when an examination hadnt even been carried out of his poor little mouth at all) and then the consultation fee on top made me mad enough to just walk out and never will be returning!
If you like your vets in the style of a tesco self service check out this is the one for you ;)

Absolutely disgusted by the service. I wouldn't advice any new pet owner to got to brockwell vet. They treated me unfairly briefly explained what she was doing whilst she was doing it and never once mentioned money apart from when talking about micro chipping, of all things to talk about that was the most irrelevant as I said I was unsure if I want to let my kitten out, they treatment she gave my kitten was for an outdoor cat, I had come in for the free exam they offered for a new kitten not to be left with a bill of £100. I'm furious

Over the years I have brought cats, guinea pigs even hamsters and gerbils here. I am not entirely sure why most of them needed a vet but over the past two years I am now on first name terms with most of the staff here. I tend to be slightly cynical of vets and whether they give the best as opposed to the most money making advice. However, I have always felt that Brockwell Vets have a real care for the animals they see. Their advice is helpful, from diet plans to treating feline acne. Equally the vets communicate well explaining exactly what they are doing rather than blindly injecting your animals in front of your eyes. I cannot say that it has not been a costly experience but having a cat that runs into oncoming traffic is never going to be an easy or cheap pet.

So we went ahead with the vaccinations (my daughter took our kitten as I am currently shielding due to cancer) and apart from trying to seriously pressurise and guilt-trip her into buying their worming and flea treatments which we didn't need as we had already bought our own, it went well. Come the day of spaying, the operation went well, but when my daughter picked her up she was charged extra, she was told 1) because our kitten had apparently started ovulating (at 4 months) just as they operated, thus making the operation more complex 2) we were forced to buy a cone, which we could have supplied ourselves had we known beforehand. Regarding 1) we should have been told beforehand that this might be a possibility. We had budgeted very carefully for the spaying and this has set us back. The worst thing is I have now written to the vets twice and they have not replied at all. Very different to when we asked them to quote, when they answered within hours. Being transparent about costs up front is a basic trait of any ethical business and Brockwell Vets is definitely not one of them.

You did not have to take the buster collar if you already had one, it is optional and this is why it is not includded in the price. Some clients provide their own collar or t-shirt, there are different options to cover the wound. If it has not been used, please return it to us and we can credit it.

Will be finding a new vet immediately and will not recommend anyone to visit this vet. I suggest you get some professional training in people skills and communication. I expect the VCMS will be conducting an investigation shortly so best to get prepared.

Jenny and her staff have been very professional and effective providing the care of family cat for the last 10 years. Unfortunately our lovely Cat suffered a massive aortic thromboembolism a few days ago and we had to decide to put him down. All the staff at this vetanary practice were sensitive and looked after our cat and us in a very thoughtful way. Our daughter who is 14 years old was very fond of our beloved cat and decided to be present during the process of euthanasia. Our cat passed away very peacefully and we were able to hold him and be with him during this difficult time. The nurse of the clinic as well as the vets were exceptionally considerate and sensitive towards us. I would recommend this clinic as it has provided us with an excellent service.

We had to take our cat urgently for a consultation because he was having trouble breathing and his back legs were not working properly. We were treated incredibly well by the whole team - they assessed him really quickly, realised that he needed an urgent X-ray and diagnosed his problem in about 30 minutes. Sadly his condition was terminal and so, after discussion we decided to have him put to sleep. Out cat and ourselves were treated with the utmost respect throughout. During the procedure the vets explained everything that would happen and allowed things to progress at a pace that was comfortable for all of us. The team made something that should have been terribly traumatic something that was calm, gentle and dignified. We are so grateful for their support and calm expertise and cannot not thank them enough

Jenny and her staff have been very professional and effective providing the care of family cat for the last 10 years. Unfortunately our lovely Cat suffered a massive aortic thromboembolism a few days ago and we had to decide to put him down. I don't often write reviews, but I wanted to share the fantastic treatment my dear dog received from all at Brockwell Vets. Harper suffered from diabetes and from the moment of her diagnoses Jenny the head vet looked after Harper's needs in every way possible, from explaining to me her owner the whole experience of being an owner to a diabetic dog, through to emergency treatment when she needed it, & even phone calls from Jenny when she was on holiday, to ask how my dog was doing. I 100% trusted Jenny and the wonderful Nurse Joanna with my beloved dogs treatment, all the staff at Brockwell got to know us both very well. Jenny looked after Harper from 12 weeks old until she sadly passed away last week at nearly 11 years old. The care & huge support from everyone at Brockwell Vets for both of my dogs and myself as their owner was seconded to none, I would highly recommend them and most certainly register any future pets I have again with them. Thank you Brockwell Team for everything. xx

I don’t live in the area and searched google for vets close to me as I’m at work I have a working dog (a Belgian malinor which they didn’t even have in there system). I arrived and booked in, they asked me to take a seat so I looked around to see the only seat they had on show to be taken. Not a problem I took myself towards the other end of the shop (as it’s not a practice it’s set up like a pet shop) to find a chair hidden behind some racking. I sit down amoungst all the bags of food, in which I was subjected make my WORKIING DOG sit and lay down like a good boy which he did until people came over to look at food on the shelves. Leaning over him and his eyes becoming a thret, in what he is trained for so he barks and gets agitated as some one has invaded his personal space.. i then go into the see the vet as some one has already reviewed on here rudimentary knowledge at best, and has obviously never operated round a working dog as she then gets her phone out and shoves it in his face to take a photo of his injury

I've been going to see Jenny for over three years now since moving to the area and always found her to be very helpful, kind and caring. Our cat hates going to the vet and isn't particularly forthcoming with treatment, but Jenny always does a great job of getting everything done as quickly and painlessly as possible. I'll be continuing to go to Brockwell Vets whilst we live in the area and recommend her to anyone!

I wish to thank Jenny and her team for the excellent care they provided to my dog from the very beginning (as it was an emergency) to the very end, when we popped in to remove the staples.
For anybody who values honest and professional care I truly recommend the Brockwell Veterinary Surgery. All the doubts I had were explained, even over the phone when I called. I think we were really lucky to find the surgery, plus the costs were only a quarter of how much we would have to pay elsewhere.
I was left with the strong impression that they care more about the animals welfare than money which was very pleasant and refreshing.
I wish there would be more places with such a strong ethics.

So happy with the price and treatment st broecleell vets! My dog neeeded to be spade due to having pyometra! It was an emeregenct op and my current vet wanted 1500 to do the operation as my insurance had ran out. I couldn't afford it but the owner/vet (Jenny) at brockwell was willing to do it for less than an 1/3 of the price and the op went really well and my dogs back to being her self...... largely thanks to Jenny and the team at brockwell vets.

Jenny has been our family vet for a very long time. We trust her as she has treated our pets for small and big complaints and we are very grateful for her care.The part-time vets are lovely too. I was not going to write this review because all the people I know in Herne Hill have Jenny as their vet but I was astonished about some of the negative posts. They look like they have been written for a difcerent place and not for the Brockwell Vets that we know and love. It makes you wish there was some kind of regulation of the reviews. I strongly recommend Brockwell Vets to all pet lovers even if you live far away!

*DO NOT USE* Appalled by this vet's lack of care and attention. After finally finding a vets that stocks versican for my puppy's follow injection, I booked in for an appointment. Firstly the place looked a lot grubbier and dirtier than any other vets that I had visited.
When we went through to have the injections, a treat was put in front of her next to the needle and two round metal lids that were a similar size and shape to the treats. Whilst speaking to the vet, I noticed that Betsy was chewing something that was making a crackling sound instead of a crunch. She had eaten one of the metal lids.
The vets reaction? Concern? Advice about how to monitor our pup? Reassurance she would be ok? No none of these. She told me I should be worried and branded my ten week puppy a 'crazy dog'! Any idiot knows that puppies will chew and eat anything and for a vet to say it was crazy is actually crazy itself.
She gave me no advice about anything including when I could actually let my dog go outside. In fact all she seems bothered about was money and trying to upswell all of her worming and flea treatment. No wonder it was so easy to get a quick appointment.

I have been using this practice for 8yrs after having had a range of bad experiences in other practices. The service is truly exceptional, they are really taking excellent care of my pets and they also run an emergency service which I have had to use a couple of times . I do not know of any other vets in the area that see their clients out of normal hours. They are really attentive, pragmatic and will be honest with their diagnosis and your options at prices that would be lower than what you would expect to pay. I have recommended them to all my friends.

The low ratings of this practice seem harsh but after my own experience at this practice , I understand why. The vets' skills are rudimentary at best and there is no compassion or concern for the animals. Cat owners beware! The main motivation is making money and this is done in whichever way possible. The premises are shabby and need a good clean. Not the sort of place you would associate with treatment and care of animals.
Find another vet, there are plenty that are kind and competent.

I have taken my cats here for almost 20 years. The practice has become more commercial of late and possibly less personal than it was when I first went there, yet the service is still perfectly good and the team are more than adequately competent. I think the advice always has to be the same regardless of the vet: if you don't have insurance, costs can spiral so just be sure you understand and agree to any treatments that are recommended for your pet. In my experience with Brockwell Vets, I have always been sure that the wellbeing of the patient is foremost in the team's minds.

Great veterinary practice, we feel lucky to have such an excellent team of vets and nurses close by. We always receive excellent caring. They always explain very clearly what the problem is and offer sound advice and after treatment service with regular updates as to how my cat is recovering. All the staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I have recommended this practice to many of my friends and family and will continue to do so.
Loved the location too, dropped in on my way to work and then picked them up on my way home:)

I was looking after myfriend's dog and when he started screaming in pain and shaking his head after a walk in the park, I rang the vet, who saw me straight away. It was 9:30pm. She opened up only for me, as they were close and the place was spotless. The vet was kind and helpful. She put him to sleep because he wouldn't let her near him. She retrieved a grass seed that had gone right down his ear, When he woke up, he was backto his normal happy.The charges were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place.

I have just moved in the area and I had to bring my 3 years old cat for a consultation to the Brockwell veterinary surgery due to some issues with his eating.
Firstly the atmosphere and smell inside the surgery and shop are enough to put anyone off!
Secondly i had no trust that the vet had a clue what they were doing, she was more like a gp rather than a veterinarian. Was afraid to touch my cat and was unable to use her "skills" to carry out a successful consultation, i had to weigh him she couldn't even do that!
Finally the upselling of flea, worming, antibiotics (when an examination hadnt even been carried out of his poor little mouth at all) and then the consultation fee on top made me mad enough to just walk out and never will be returning!
If you like your vets in the style of a tesco self service check out this is the one for you ;)

Absolutely disgusted by the service. I wouldn't advice any new pet owner to got to brockwell vet. They treated me unfairly briefly explained what she was doing whilst she was doing it and never once mentioned money apart from when talking about micro chipping, of all things to talk about that was the most irrelevant as I said I was unsure if I want to let my kitten out, they treatment she gave my kitten was for an outdoor cat, I had come in for the free exam they offered for a new kitten not to be left with a bill of £100. I'm furious

Over the years I have brought cats, guinea pigs even hamsters and gerbils here. I am not entirely sure why most of them needed a vet but over the past two years I am now on first name terms with most of the staff here. I tend to be slightly cynical of vets and whether they give the best as opposed to the most money making advice. However, I have always felt that Brockwell Vets have a real care for the animals they see. Their advice is helpful, from diet plans to treating feline acne. Equally the vets communicate well explaining exactly what they are doing rather than blindly injecting your animals in front of your eyes. I cannot say that it has not been a costly experience but having a cat that runs into oncoming traffic is never going to be an easy or cheap pet.
