I took my frenchie in today after being very worried about a developing eye condition. The doctor disregarded my concerns that my dog gets very nervous when examined at the eyes and he nearly died from a similar experience and still refused to let me go in with him and started pulling my dog to follow him. At the end of the examination I ended up paying £216 for no definite diagnosis and a very unprofessional answer that the doctor doesn’t know what my dog has, he never seen something like that before and prescribing him random drops and medicine for potential conditions. It was a very unpleasant and expensive experience and this is not what you expect when it’s the only emergency clinic in the area. Read Less

Took my 13 year old Westie to Elizabeth Street for pain relief as an emergency appointment on a Bank Holiday. This followed of a course of treatment for severe pancreatitis. The receptionist was very kind and understanding but the vet completely disregarded what I was asking for. She didn't give the type of pain relief that I requested - and which my dog had been receiving previously at his regular vet - and insisted on giving him an injection to stop him vomiting even though I told the her that the dog had not been vomiting. She said the way the dog was reacting showed that he was prone to vomiting! As if I had failed to notice pools of vomit inside my home. She then insisted I took home more anti-vomit medication. The pain relief she gave was not effective and I had to return to my regular vet the following morning. I would not recommend Elizabeth Street at all Read Less

If you’re considering this clinic for your beloved pet, do not. You never ever get the same vet. They are extremely negligent in their service. My little puppy had a castration (which included an incision in his groin). After the op he was put on pain medication which clearly didn’t go well with him as he was vomiting and having diarrhoea for 4 days (even though I immediately took him off the medication). I called the vet and they told me to come in and pick up some other medication since that one clearly wasn’t reacting well with him. They charged me for the medication. He still wasn’t doing well so I called again and they told me to bring him in. At this point I had paid almost £600 and I said to her on the phone, I’m not bringing him in just so you can charge me again, this is all part of one transaction and I wouldn’t need to bring him in if the medication etc. you have didn’t make him like this. Luckily they agreed not to charge me. However, it’s now been 2 months and the stitches haven’t dissolved yet and I noticed red inflamed patch next to the stitches that seemed solid underneath and my dog was clearly uncomfortable. I sent pictures in and called them and the vet said she was really happy with how it’s healing and that it just looked a bit bruised....I said it’s been 2 months after the op and then she hesitated and said ok well call us in a couple of days if it’s still like that. The next day there was liquid coming out of the patch and I sent in pictures AGAIN and called and they told me to bring him in and of course charged me for antibiotics. They also said there’s a chance the incision may just open up again and if so he will need to have stitches again. The surgery itself is unpleasant enough let alone with all these complications on top. Disappointed is an understatement. Saying that, his vet who did his procedure was lovely and clearly cares about animals - it’s a shame that it’s not him you speak to everytime there’s an issue. Read Less

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Do not recommend taking your pet there under any circumstance. I believe it is during this difficult times we are currently facing that people will be remember for either their care or disregard to people. I do understand that because of the pandemic we need to be more precautious and follow measures in order to protect ourselves. However, I also believe in being professional and respectful. I took my dog there because he had a rash. I called in advance and was advised to go at Vet on Elizabeth street at late in the evening, around 8h30pm. Once I got there, my dog was taken to the back of the clinic and I was not allowed to go with him. I try explaining what happened but the vet hardly heard me or let me inform that my dog is nervous and can bark a lot when anxious. He was taken to the back of the clinic and got extremely nervous, everyone could hear him bark and whine. Once returned, the vet said he was fine and charged me £212 without explaining what was done, if the rash was looked or if any medicine/shot was giving to him. They said for me to leave and that was it. Im now back home and me dog is still scratching his rash, which still looks the same. I think they barely even looked at it!! I’m disappointed as this seemed like a place I could trust my beloved dog. I was ROBBED an HUGE amount of money for nothing and they did not seem to care about my dog or my worries. Read Less

I went to Elizabeth St Emergency vet on a Sunday, with my quite difficult cat as she was unable to walk this morning. Emola the vet was amazing and completely diagnosed the problem putting our minds at rest. They were able to help me organise a claim form for my pet insurance. They were 100% professional. They work so very hard. My normal vet recommends them for our of hours cover, but if I were to be sure to have Emola, she is so good with cats, I would be happy to go back there any time. Read Less

I cannot rate Elizabeth street vets highly enough. From the staff at the desk to the vets.... every member of staff is welcoming and attentive. The level of care my cat has received has been excellent. Helen, who is one of the vets at the surgery is exceptional. She is very patient, explains everything in detail and is there to offer advice. Thank you SO much for the care and attention both Louie and I received last night in the extremely capable hands of Michelle and Emily. How refreshing to find a company in this day and age that care about the animal more than the potential income. As a nurse myself I really appreciate the time taken to give sound advice, and to offer potential alternatives for my dogs care that involved using other services, because it might be more convenient for me. This would be the ideal practice to use as I live in the same street. After being a very unhappy client for many years I was forced to find another vet after several bad and unacceptable experiences and I also encountered a rude vet and often cold, rude receptionists at Elizabeth Street Vets, often waiting for up to an hour over the appointed time to be seen. I am pleased I did, I am delighted with our new kind caring, friendly vets practice, (who were highly recommended) albeit it takes me 20 - 30 minutes to drive up to Marble Arch area.. My dogs are so happy to go in to say hello, rather than cling to the railings to avoid going in as they did at Elizabeth Street and are given treats, made a fuss of and cuddled by the staff and always seen on time by the wonderful vet. What a happy environment! Elizabeth Street Vet practice seems to be very money orientated and from my experience there is no friendly rapport with their patients or their owners and no one seems concerned about building up a good reputation. Every one sits in silence - receptionist do not even say hello to your dog! I also have several friends who left this practice and can say that I never felt to be a valued client it was always - in - payment - out, Needs must and I had to go to Elizabeth Street vet recently for an emergency and whilst there another dog pee'd on the floor at reception, the owner told the receptionist about it, she pulled a face and did nothing, he eventually asked her for a mop, stating that someone would walk in it and she brought him a mop!!! When he started to clean it I told him that he should not be doing that, he agreed and in front of the receptionist said " but she is not going to do it" She ignored him and then left the room! In short, DON'T USE THIS VETS!!. Trust my review and so many other reviews before mine that clearly warn you not to go there. Unfortunately, my local vets uses Elizabeth Street Vets as its out of hours service. When my dog was sick, I checked them out online. I could see so many terrible reviews and was concerned about using them. So much so that I mentioned it to Elizabeth Street Vets over the phone. The lady on the phone made a good point though she said that people using their services are often in distress because it's an emergency and therefore feel more upset than most and as a result leave negative reviews. I thought that made sense and decided to give them a try. When we went, our dog was given some drugs and was told to contact the vet and speak to them directly if he didn't improve. He didn't improve, so I rang up and Joanna Gilmore the Head Nurse answered and we asked to speak to the vet. I cannot tell you how rude she was. It was so unprofessional. I had the phone on loud speaker so my wife could hear any important information about our dog. Both her and our friend overheard Joanna's rudeness and I could see the shock on everyone's faces. I was nothing but polite to her from start to finish, because all I really wanted to do was speak to a vet about our dog, as we had been advised. She sounded very bitter that I still wanted to speak to a vet over her but unfortunately her lack of knowledge was proven when I eventually spoke to the vet and she contradicted everything Joanna had said. I ended up paying an extra 100 to take my dog to another out of hours vets in Streatham. It was so very worth it and I would encourage everyone else to seek out another vets. I honestly believe that we were as nice as humanly possible to Joanna and were treated in the most rude and disrespectful way. Unfortunately as other reviews have stated, it seems to be her that is causing so many negative reviews for the practice. Read Less

The vet was exceptionally nice, and vent trough a very extensive examination. She explained everything clearly and although she could not find the cause of the stomach problem there and then she assured that all will be OK - which I believed witnessing the examination - and asking me to return the next day if the symptoms change to worst...As about the pricing - well it's Chelsea in central London at strange hour and they were very opened up-front about the costs even on the phone when I called in. I cannot recommend this veterinary practice highly enough! Helen Wikeley is an incredibly lovely lady, and is always so kind and helpful when I take my Pomeranian in for his annual shots and the very occasional health issue. She is always immensely patient with my dog, and he doesn't even flinch when she gives him his shots! It is genuinely a pleasure to visit the clinic, and I have found that whenever I have an issue that I am not sure about, they are happy to talk through the symptoms over the phone and reassure me that all is well, which has avoided unnecessary visits on several occasions. I would unreservedly recommend this vet, and the 24 hour emergency clinic is also a massive advantage. Read Less

Interesting comments here, some rather alarming. Had a very mixed experience. The team I met last night out of hours couldn't have been nicer, most caring, professional and considerate. Helping me with my young Springer who was recuperating from surgery. Thanks again to you both, very much appreciated. I left feeling that Brandie (my dog) was in the best possible place :-) This morning I was contacted by the practice secretary. Clearly didn't know the dog. Seemed quite unconcerned about my dog's welfare overall. When I enquired if my dog had been out to the toilet and preferred grass to pavement, when possible. I was advised, in a somewhat off hand manner as to "...the difficulty of finding grass in Central London..." Given that I lived in Pimlico for a good number of years and still live in central London during the week, I must admit this was a little irritating and somewhat inappropriate I felt. My experience of ESVC: I am no vet but in my spare time I am a small holder based in rural Wiltshire and have been for a number of years, with a small amount of livestock in addition to three other Springers (2yo, 10 & 15). So I do feel that I know the breed quite well. I must say that if I had kept any animal recovering from surgery hydrated all night in a practice that was responsible for her care, the first priority for my team in contacting the owner in the morning would be to advise them of the overall condition of their much loved pet. Not to seek to confirm the security code of their Visa card. The latter point seemed to me the secretary's primary concern. In balance, the lady who contacted me subsequently to confirm the transfer of my dog to her normal vet was very professional, considerate and helpful and the out of hours team were excellent, couldn't have been nicer. A very mixed experience to be honest.Read Less

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS VET CLINIC! This has to be the most outrageous, rude, unprofessional vet clinic in London! I took my pomeranian puppy to the vet clinic. Pomeranians by nature are quite scared when meeting new people. We were asked to wait outside as there was another dog inside the clinic. When we went in, the vet didn't introduce herself to the dog or allow him time to become familiar with the clinic. She went straight to observing him which he did not approve. Every time he tried to smell the vet, she moved away. He started crying because he became scared and that's when the vet decided to put a muzzle on him. He is a young puppy and he has never seen a muzzle before therefore he became even more scared and tried jumping into my arms. Without any symphony, the vet asked me to step out of the room and call one of the receptionists. I can still hear his screams! It was heartbreaking! After the observation, the unqualified nurse told me that I should have better control over my dog otherwise HE WILL BE PUT DOWN! I explained that we have had a burglary at my house and the dog was hit and stepped on therefore he is naturally scared. She said, I DON'T CARE, YOU HAVE TO FIX HIM OTHERWISE HE WILL BE PUT DOWN! I was beyond shocked and upset therefore I decided to leave. Later, I called to report what had happened and asked for a full refund. If you love your pet, please don't experience what we did! It was awful and I am going to report this vet clinic to a government body because they should not be operating and i would hate for anyone else to experience the same or similer.Read Less

The vets here are brilliant! As are its nursing staff! When we returned home late on Saturday night, our normally healthy cat had thrown up and continued to throw up at 3 hour intervals. Our regular vets are shut on Sunday, but have a tie-up with this clinic for emergencies. The nurse on the phone was very helpful and helped calm us down. She gave us some recommendations, and told us to call again in the evening if the symptoms didn't abate. We had to call them again and were given an appointment quickly. The nurse in the waiting room was efficient and calmed us down as well as all the other people who came in with their pets in emergencies. The doctor when we saw her was brilliant. Attentive to all our input and handled our temperamental + sick cat beautifully. Given the problem we have getting a tablet down her throat, she gave us a paste to feed her in 2 hours and she has promised us that cats LOVE the taste. She also gave her an injection for the nausea and discomfort and put in a bit of a pain killer too to ease the cat.As soon as we got home, our cat who was on 15-20% energy levels and 60% stubbornness for the past 24 hours, is now at 60% energy and 90% stubbornness ( in 30 minutes) Very very impressed and happy with every interaction that we had with this clinic today.

Read Less

He sadly died shortly the next day from heart complications. I took my 6 year old Lagotto to this practice at a very late Saturday/Sunday night hour (12:20 am) when he developed some very strange symptoms and I was afraid of him having a blockage to his stomach. The bill, by the way, was not higher than my normal vet bills so if you need an emergency 24 hr vet in London I can recommend her. Read Less
