upon entering what I thought was still my local vets after my cat had been run over and having a consultation and administrating pain killers the bill was already £140 and having the receptionist DEMAND it then and there, I thought it was strange as they had always been easy about setting up a payment plan it was at this point I found out MEDIVET had taken over ridiculous no better than extortion you say you have animals best interest at heart, however a majority can see the only thing this company has at heart is profits at a ridiculous rate without regard for the local community or the long hard working people who have worked at my local practice for many years are now been made redundant absolutely savage disgusting business this is. I shall boycott all medivet and shall advise anyone not to attend your so called 'vets'. Read Less

DO NOT USE THIS SURGERY. This surgery is an absolute joke. My dog went in there with a small dog bite which needed to be flushed out with saline and wrapped up. But no, instead they charged my parents £1000 to get stitches that they did not need. My parents speak poor English and were in a state of shock from what had just happened to our dog and this surgery probably thought it was a good opportunity to make some money. Fine. Procedures cost money. After the (poorly done) stitches, they did not wrap the stitches up thus leaving it with potential to get infected. And then the stitches began to become undone because he was a dog and he was moving around (as dogs tend to do) with unwrapped stitches so 4 days later, they cut the stitches out, thus leaving him with a massive open wound on his back (keep in mind, this wound is more than double the size of his original bite). So the vets had the nerve to say they can sedate him, AGAIN, and re-stitch him again for the additional price of £1000. We said no as 1. the price was too high and 2. our dog did not leave the house or pee for the first 3 days after the procedure because he was absolutely traumatised and we were not going to put him through that again so they agreed that they will take natural route. We paid £140 for his swab to be sent to the lab and some antibiotics. The vet promised that if we brought our own medication into the vets, they will clean the wound and bandage him up (it's the very least they can do but they probably think they are going above and beyond but whatever) so the first two sessions, my mum took the dog for the wound to be cleaned - fine, third session, they started demanding money from my mum once again for the "dressing" (even though we have already paid them £1000 for the stitches which were taken out a few days later as it was unsuccessful because they were done poorly" and 3 weeks later, they are still asking for "outstanding bills". Also, the guy at the reception with the glasses (I believe his name is Bryan) is so rude. Having sat on a warm bus for 4 hours to come and see my injured dog, I was sat in the reception waiting for my dog to be called in and each phone call he picked up, he would roll his eyes, moan and groan and speak very loudly and aggressively to the people calling in - making the environment in the surgery really vile. If you are not a caring person, do not work in the medical profession, even as a receptionist. The receptionists are so unprofessional and poorly trained. - PLEASE JUST DO NOT GO TO THIS VETS AND SAFE YOURSELF ALL OF THIS STRESS. THEY COMPLETELY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF MY PARENTS, DID NOT GIVE THEM ANY OPTIONS, HAVE TAKEN A TOTALLY OF AROUND £1500 AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, LEFT MY DOG WITH A MASSIVE OPEN WOUND ON IT'S BACK WHICH IS NOW BEING TREATED WITH SALT WATER AND HONEY. They are useless and dishonest. They did not manage to save my cat when brought to the emergency and several facts were wrong on the post mortem report. It said that due to money constraints we asked them to do a basic autopsy but when I called them they told me that if I wanted the body back they could only do a basic autopsy so they didn't really leave me much of a choice. They mention in the report that this could have been done at our vet's (RVC) because they are specialists in this field but they didn't offer me this choice when I spoke to them. And finally they were not able to identify the cause of death. I have never seen such low skilled vets and staff. They were completely cold and defended the cattery manager who brought my cat to this horrible place after letting him suffer for over 3 hours. They twist your words and don't reply when asked to correct the report. (This was important because I made a complaint against the cattery.) They are very incompetent. Read Less

Medivet have ruined choice in our local area, buying up as many practices as possible and raising prices. Charged me £70 for a consultation and two small tubes of isathal for conjunctivitis, second time charged me £35 just for the meds, £17.50 for something that costs £8 online. Asked about prescription fee and it's £16, 60% higher than vets for pets. When the average partner is earning £350,000 a year and the largest partner over £1,000,000 it's clear their priority is not delivering affordable care. Thanks to their near monopoly now we have virtually no choice to go elsewhere. They said someone would call me to discuss the charging but obviously they've not bothered. Read Less

Shame on you Medivet... several months after taking over a local community veterinary practice in Wimborne Dorset , despite reassurances, you are now in a 'period of consultation ' (previous sentence edited for confidentiality at your request) The majority of staff have worked there for many years and are an integral part of the local community... there are many of us already unhappy with your extortionate prices, that have stuck with you as we've been loyal customers for many years, and some of us, all our lives. What a shame, as the new vets seem lovely. However you approach/business model speaks volumes... as will your empty waiting rooms. And for what? Profit! Genuinely saddened. Read Less

I find it rather unbelievable that the recent reviews for this medivet are all so positive?. If you look at the trustpilot reviews for medivet, it’s the total opposite. Differences with google reviews and trust pilot are below. GOOGLE REVIEWS - The company being reviewed can email google to ask them to remove negative reviews. TRUSTPILOT REVIEWS - The company being reviewed cannot ask them to removed any reviews. I put up an honest review about mine and my pet’s experience with this ‘vets’ back in April and medivets had it removed. My experience was very bad and it felt like a total cash grab at any cost, even the cost of my pet’s life, had I been conned into leaving her there. Thankfully I got her out of there and went elsewhere. For an honest review on medivet look on trustpilot or just google vet reviews. Medivet will never see me or anybody I tell my horrific experience of medivet to. Read Less

My beloved dog was euthanized at Medivet Gravesend recently, the most difficult decision I've made in my life, a blood test was suggested to see if anything could be done for him which I of course wanted, I left the room to stand outside the door and could here him struggling and panting, on returning I found him in a very distressed state with blood marks on his neck where the Vet had had two failed attempts to get the sample and she was preparing to have another stab at him... until I said no more, that is my lasting image of him, and it is very upsetting. I felt pressure to agree to have him put down, no blood test no treatment. She then put a catheter in his leg to euthanize him, it was not explained to me why this was needed, and has never happened with my pets before, yet more stress for him, after he died it would have been nice to be alone with him for a few minutes but this wasn't offered, instead I had to say goodbye sandwiched between the two staff. my dog was the world to me and a regular patient at this vets, almost weekly at the end, and each time I took him in I had to ask what they were treating him for and with when this information should have been freely given, I paid enough for the service after all. I would've liked my boy to have had a more dignified end. Out of interest This same vet a few months ago insisted on a blood test for our cat who'd hurt his leg, she had to do two needles full as she didn't take enough the first time, twice the stress, charged us well over £100 and then told us that the testing machine there wasn't that good or accurate, didn't give us a refund for this rubbish machine though, the pain killers made the cat ill and he got better with rest on his own, not long after by coincidence another of our cats hurt her leg we saw the lead vet this time and sure enough no blood test was needed, no fuss no bother. After I've collected my boys ashes next week I will not be using medivet again. And then they block me so I can't write a review on their site. And abuse me on the phone. P.S Full apology in writing now received. See More Read Less

After him being in their surgery which was a basic cage and I would never have him in one! we went to get him after three days as I had enough and they still were unable to tel...l me what was wrong! I demanded that they give me his medicins and I would treat him myself! for that time and no signs of any real treatment they billed us for £2,000! We paid it and even the dog wanted to get the hell out of there! I recall looking at this vets face and seeing the guilt all over it! I did not react as I wanted to get him out of there! I got home went on google and treated him myself and he fully recovered! My wife and I are both in the nursing profession and would be struck off if we treated a patient with an medications if we did not know what was wrong with the patient, yet this guy thought it was ok to medicate my dog without the pro[per medication! I left absolutely disgusted and remind all my friends and colleagues to make sure they get the right information, what is the dogs condition? what medication should be given and how/ And check your billing! That was the Medi vet in Church lanein Hendon! However at Hendon in particular MISREPRESENATIONS ARE THE ORDER OF THE DAY, NO ONE HAS SPOKEN TO ME FROM THE CLIENT CARE MANAGEMENT. Rude Staff, Client Charter a farce, second opinions non-existent until the animal is at death's door... rush to get you on their PET PLAN AT 14.00 POUNDS PER PET, and they ALWAYS TAKE THEIR STAFF'S SIDE, perhaps because they are @underpaid?? Visited West Byfleet branch Saturday 17/02/18 after being told on the phone my 12 year old staff had been fighting arthritis for a while and maybe it's best to consider euthanasia as it is not fair to him and we have to consider his needs not our. Floods off tears all afternoon and evening, giving him strong pain killers from them which were non tested on animals and actually for humans, and singing up for £700xrays to confirm it was past hope before I could agree to euthanas...ia. Spent the evening nursing him thru what I thought was my beautiful boys last weekend. I couldn't face it so went to vets for pets Byfleet for a second opinion.. He was positive and praised his condition and general health, and actually let me feel my dogs knee joint as he moved it proving where the issue is, and said with glucosamine and condroitin twice a day for 6weeks it will improve massively and he will be able walk pain free again even after two weeks I will see a big difference. When I told him I had been told I should consider euthanasia he was shocked!!, and totally disagreed. On my return home u rubbed algesal (like voltarol) on my dogs knees and he was able to stand and lay without crying out. How DARE medivet use euthanasia as a first option and destroy hope and ignore other options available and make owners feel they are being selfish and cruel to not end their pets life. Because they have arthritis!!!!!!... Other options dismissed!!!. Never ever going there again, been with that vets 12 years! Disgusted!!! See More Read Less

I have 2 cats and 1 dog and sadly I had to say goodbye to her in 2015. To her the vets was her second home and she loved going there. The whole process of saying goodbye was extremely hard but to their credit all the staff were brilliant in what was a very sad day and I know that they care so passionately about all the animals that cross their threshold. I now have another dog who I rescued and was nervous but after a couple of visits she now loves going there too. I consider myself very lucky to have such a wonderful team looking after my babies because that's exactly what they are and I am never worried about leaving them there because I know they will always look after them as if they were their own. My dog Molly had treatment in the Carpenders park branch for a lump on her eye, she had it removed all seemed good regarding payment from the insurance then I was asked for 54.74 extra, why I asked when I was covered and had paid my excess of 80, it seemed they went for a very expensive HISTOLOGY test rather than the 62.98, rather than asking me if this was alright they tried to get it of my insurers, and they said they will not cover it, as it was unnecessary. I then had a nasty letter from Medivet saying this can't continue, and payment had to be made !!!!!!!! , I had never received a letter from then about any money, so I rang the branch at Carpenders Park and asked what was going on, the receptionist took the message and said she will look into it, nothing happened, so a week later went it there and asked what was happening, she took a message and said she will get back to me, again nothing, then Anna was on holiday so another message was left, why should I pay extra money for something that was NOT neccary and no one at this branch knew why it was charged, was unhappy and think I will be taking my 2 dogs elsewhere for treatment as I feel the trust has gone which is a shame as I have been going there for 6 years Not happy at all, I know you have to make money but reallyRead Less

Veterinary Superheroes! Amazing 24hour service with caring staff. There is parking outside for at least 6 cars and there is usually a space free. I took our very sick puppy on a referral from our usual vet. I've spent a lot of time visiting here recently and they are always happy to give me an update. Whatever time I called or visited the staff were always kind, helpful and well-informed and they worked really hard to get to the bottom of what was wrong with our little girl. Fingers crossed all fixed now but I know that if I have any more problems I'll be coming back here for the really amazing service Read Less

AVOID- Where do I start. I really am very disappointed with myself that I had taken my cat to medivet after I had been told that they featured on WATCHDOG TV. I had no choice as it was late at the time and this was my only option. Avoid the Hendon branch, one vet in particular puts on a sad face for you so you feel bad so you pay all the extortionate fees involved in diagnosing the illness with your animal. She told us one price then within seconds of us saying yes the price went up again substantially. They are professional money makers with no care and affection for your pet. Avoid at all cost. After seeing the program on telly and after my own experience I will never ever take my pet there again!! I have taken my pet there in an emergency on Bank holiday monday when my vet was off duty and the asian girl (vet or nurse I dont know) made all illnesses up just to get money from me. She even wanted to leave my pet at their practise over night!!! I then told her that i knew was was acutally wrong with my pet as it was not the first time it got ill with it and I told her exactly what i wanted it to be treated with!! Horrendous!!! If it was not an emergency I would have taken my pet elsewhere on that day!!!

My husband took our cat and had him checked and treated within an hour (including the short drive over). It didn't cost us any more than our usual practice would charge on a week day, and the vet called back as promised in the evening to check for progress. They even offered to pass on all treatment records to our local vet. Excellent service :) Read Less

Progress 100% Complete understanding Thanks for your feedback! Please take a moment to copy and paste your comments onto one of these popular sites: Google VetHelpDirect When I came into your practice, I was in a stream of tears due to the fact my pet had just passed away on me. Both the receptionists and the vet showed a lot of sympathy and understanding towards me. This is what you need when a beloved pet has just passed away. I would highly recommend this vet to anymore. Also it is great they have an out of hours service too, my usual vet does not have that service. Thanks again for your great service. Angela Gunn (Matildas owner) Read Less

Watchdog is on TV for a reason. Read Less

Read Less
