Went to see the vet about my dog's infected toe and dropped 150 pounds on antibiotic shot and pills. When these failed to deliver result for a few days I went back for a check-up. and it was another 50 pounds for a 10 minute visit that included a bandage with (?)honey(?) ... Why wasn't this done on the first visit I don't know. Then I was given an option to come back in a couple of days to take the bandage off (surely another 50 quid) have an x-ray for £500. WHAT!!??? Why on earth would an x-ray cost 500 quid? I've had numerous x-rays taken at the dentist for free and some private practices charge less than £100 and sometimes less than £50 for a chest x-ray. Needless to say I'll be looking for another vet that doesn't want to bleed me dry. I'm guessing if we all had pet insurance, a vet practice is a short way to become a wealthy individual. Read Less

Where to begin? We had an appointment at 9 am this morning. I have back/leg problems so my daughter stayed overnight to help me take my cat for boosters. I had as instructed checked there was parking available. Having driven past, turned left, following instructions, no parking could be located in time for my appointment. My daughter had to drive around to get back to the main road and then pull in to a garage on the opposite side. I then had to carry my (heavy) cat and basket across the main road on my own to Medivet. I was at the door by 8.55 am. No-one was in reception, I buzzed twice (don't ask me how I certainly didn't have a hand free) and finally someone came and opened the door. There was zero communication as to the delay and when I asked was there anyone actually THERE to see us there was an indistinct mumble about traffic. Not a word from the person who seemed to be on reception. We might as well not have been there. We were finally seen at 9.20 by which time another lady with a cat was also waiting. The vet, when we finally were able to see him, was fine. However, I would never go there again and would not recommend anyone else to either. It is particularly unfortunate because as a family we have had good experiences with Medivet in Borehamwood and excellent service at the Muswell Hill branch too. Read Less

I have 2 cats and 1 dog and sadly I had to say goodbye to her in 2015. To her the vets was her second home and she loved going there. My dog Molly had treatment in the Carpenders park branch for a lump on her eye, she had it removed all seemed good regarding payment from the insurance then I was asked for 54.74 extra, why I asked when I was covered and had paid my excess of 80, it seemed they went for a very expensive HISTOLOGY test rather than the 62.98, rather than asking me if this was alright they tried to get it of my insurers, and they said they will not cover it, as it was unnecessary. I then had a nasty letter from Medivet saying this can't continue, and payment had to be made !!!!!!!! , I had never received a letter from then about any money, so I rang the branch at Carpenders Park and asked what was going on, the receptionist took the message and said she will look into it, nothing happened, so a week later went it there and asked what was happening, she took a message and said she will get back to me, again nothing, then Anna was on holiday so another message was left, why should I pay extra money for something that was NOT neccary and no one at this branch knew why it was charged, was unhappy and think I will be taking my 2 dogs elsewhere for treatment as I feel the trust has gone which is a shame as I have been going there for 6 years Not happy at all, I know you have to make money but reallyRead Less

My pets and i have been clients of Abbey Vets for 2 generations and i have only good words for the service. in particular the vet nurse Jaki is the tops, her knowledge is unsurpassed and her personal service to each and every pet and their owner is without fault. However after my last visit i forgot to pay a small bill of 43 and over Easter and till today despite having now paid the amount outstanding i am being threatened and harassed by a debt collection agency called ACS who are the pits in rudeness and aggressive behaviour. how unfortunate that Abbey vets have chosen to use ACS as it completely ruins the wonderful working relationship we have had with Abbey for so long that i may even change vets.
