We love Village Vet Highgate. Our pets (2 cats and a dog) are cared for by Sheldon who is brilliant with them. The front of house staff are always so attentive and know our pets well. The veterinary nurses put you and the animals at ease and their obvious love for their job comes out in the way our pets react to them. I would not go anywhere else for the care of our animal family. We have been visiting Village Vet for 10 years. We chose them because they open longer hours and coincidently fell upon a gem! Our first visit was with a sick cat who was cared for expertly and with compassion and this has been our on-going experience. Most recently one of our beloved tabby cats developed a tumour on his front leg. Sheldon and the team nurtured us through the difficult decision process and he had the leg amputated 5 weeks ago. I have been taking my dog Walter to Village Vet in Highgate since he was a puppy. He loves it in there, all the staff are very friendly & quick to help when they can. Walter is particularly fond of one Sam (vet), who is always quick to diagnose any problems and happy to talk me through any treatment options. 5/5 for sure! Read Less

Not coming back here. Rude vet with zero charm and no eye contact who over-talked me at every opportunity during the consultation. Said he'd ring at 12.00 and didn't. When he finally called after 14.00 he started listing all the tests and I had to interrupt to ask if my cat was ok and what the headline was. I can't understand blood test results; i can understand if my cat is critically ill which is what I wanted to know. Not a good f2f experience either. Very unhappy. Over inflated prices for an inferior service. I wouldnt have even given one star but I cant post my review without. Only went twice. The vet failed to feel my sick cats tumour- (which a subsequent vet found in 2 minutes). I had to spend almost 500 for 2 consultations and tests. On the first visit Ifelt totally unsupported when I told him he wasn't eating. He just said over the weekend just offer him his usual food and keep him quiet. No suggestions of how I could encourage him to eat. .I had an appointment on the Monday for tests- he initially said do I mind leaving the cat as he couldn't do the tests straight away as the nurse was doubling up as the receptionist. Then he said -no its ok we'll do them now. When he failed to phone me the results I was phoning for 45 minutes. The phone seemed to be off the hook. I phoned their sister company in Hampstead to complain. Why are they short staffed when they are charging such extortionate.fees? The vet apologized to me about failing to examine my cat properly-this I appreciated. At no time was I offered any recompense for the unprofessional consultations and unnecessary tests. If I was offered lifelong free treatment there I wouldn't return. Read Less

Wonderful service yesterday. Our own vet was closed. We had to take in our cat to be put to sleep. The service was efficient and compassionate. Lovely reception staff and terrific vet. She was super tolerant of me as a tried to hold it together. We have a lovely vet in Notting Hill but I'd recommend Village in Hampstead to anyone in that area. Excellent Read Less

I've been taking my cats to Village Vet Highgate for nearly 6 years and there is nothing on which I can fault them. One of my cats is 21 and one has complex health problems and they have been given the best care I could hope for. Sheldon is a wonderful vet - thorough, kind, empathetic and discusses everything in as much detail as you want. Jonny, the new vet, is also great. I had to call the vets one morning as an emergency. I was asked to come in asap and was seen straight away. The team were so professional and kind. Unfortunately we had to have our friend put to sleep. Jonny, our vet was fantastic and I really want to thank him for being so kind and understanding and doing everything he possibly could without us actually having an appointment. A truly 24-hour service with the masterful Crina in the smaller hours and the excellent Helen during the day (though Rebekkah will take the credit if she keeps muddling her overalls). Great people and great vets. Can't go wrong in selecting them. If you want the best for your pets go to them. Definitely worth it. To all the people complaining about prices, just remember that there is no NHS for pets, so don't expect rock bottom or free treatment if you want the best equipment and the most qualified vets in the industry! Late one evening I brought my 15 year old dog in after being Savaged by another dog. She was in a very poor state. The Village Vet team were brilliant. First they patched me up as I had also been bitten and then they operated on Sally and saved her life. Every member of the team was brilliant, considerate and skillful. Very good vet all the London the Ealing team, they helped me a lot to take my hamster back to my home, also the doctor checked him every time when we visit them, to make sure he is healthy. (But it was very funny when my hamster start to "answering" all the conversation what we had with the doctor,and he was so suprised all of this, yeah my hamster is educated) I love them, perfect team, painfully to leave them, but if you read my advice, feel free to bring your pet friend there, they definitely help for everyone...all London they're the best..!!!! Wonderful staff and vets. Bruce at Maida Vale was the best vet for our beloved kitten Picasso. He was both an excellent professional and compassionate as we had to recently place our kitten to sleep due to an ongoing illness. I truly thank Village Vet for all they did for Pic and cared for him so well. Bruce was always realistic and supportive of his diagnosis. I have three cats - one 6 and two 1.5 years old. They are all rescue cats. The oldest is particularly difficult to handle as she was not familiarised with humans at all until I got her from the factory I found her in. The other two had been fostered before I got them.In the 6 years I have been visiting this vet: The vets and assistant staff have always gone the extra mile for the oldest - even though at the surgery I was told once after an op her nickname was "the beast". The reception staff have been great at making appointments, been really social and come and spoken to the animals in the waiting room. I certainly recommend this practice to anyone living in the neighbourhood. Read Less

I have mixed feelings about this vet - here's why: I find their support staff to be not very good, whereas their vets are good. On my first appointment the receptionist had overslept and so when I arrived at the clinic, the doctor was overwhelmed with the patients that were coming in. On another occasion, I arrived and the receptionist (a different one) told me that - unfortunately - she had double-booked appointments and so I would have to wait. While she was very apologetic about this, I couldn't help but making a mental note about the staff not being very organised or reliable. Plus, from other clinics I'm used to receptionists being always very attentive to my dog and giving her treats. I know this is totally a bonus, but my dog isn't very excited to come here, while she always wanted to go into the clinics I used to frequent before moving to this area. As for the doctors, and I understand that this is the crucial bit about a clinic, I am satisfied with their expertise. I especially recommend making an appointment with Sheldon, who has been very kind to my dog.  Overall, I do come back to this clinic as the location is very convenient for me. However, I am not "enjoying" my visit, as much as I could; if only the staff would be a bit more organised and more "into" my dog ;-) Read Less

A wonderful vet. Yes it's expensive, though not as much so as previous reviews suggest - we only paid 180 for teeth cleaning for example, but the levels of service, facilites and, most importantly, of care for the animals is absolutely superb. Cannot recommend highly enough. Read Less
