I have been coming to Filipe for almost two years now with my dog. Testament to his care, every time we happen to walk past the vets, my dog will (without fail) try to go in and will wait at the door wagging. She is also the first one to rush into the consult room for her routine check-ups or even when she is not herself and requires a medical pathway. As any pet owner would know, this is a rarity! I am also a trained medical professional myself and recognise his passion and expertise when assessing and treating my dog - filling me with the upmost trust and relief when she is under his care. Unfortunately for him, he now has a patient in her for the remaining duration of her life! What prompted me to write this review was his immaculate and excellent care of my dog when she was unwell last. Filipe was extremely proactive and professional, explaining all possibilities which made me feel involved in her care not to mention his incredible support during this very stressful time. After an intense two week course of treatment, (which other vets prior had failed to treat or address) my dog was back to full health and causing her usual trouble! Not only did Filipe treat my dog with the 5 star care that she deserves, but has also educated me for the future of signs, symptoms and things to watch out for. In short, Filipe the vet is wonderful and I could not highly recommend his care anymore! Please note though that the management at the practice charge pricey fees to their products & store - definitely a punchy mark up!! However, very luckily for them, Filipe is worth every penny! Thanks Filipe for all your wonderful care over the past few years. Read Less

I cannot sufficiently express my deepest concerns about this vet's ability to care for animals. He is clearly not aware of what the basic care for dogs is. He recently recommended blood and skin tests for our dog, while it was a simple food allergy that we found out about after a second and much cheaper opinion. Furthermore, we have had an issue with him not knowing the basic requirements of pet passports. We were detained in France for not having the correct stamp on a rabies vaccination he administered. We had to go to the local vet and get a correct stamp. Furthermore we were no longer allowed to travel on our train. Causing us to be delayed by 2.5 hours. Overall ----> avoid this vet. Read Less

A great veterinary practice and much, much more. Location; in the junction of two busy roads which makes it realy easy to get here either you drive or use public transport. Easy to find, just look for the blue door! Despite the heavy traffic outside, it is really calm and quiet inside. The building is fully accesible, lift is provided, which was very handy for me when our beloved Labrador, Lord could not walk. Inside you can find a shop stocked with carefully selected, quality pet food, toys, accessories and more, the reception and waiting area for the practice and the hydrotherapy room. To book an appointment is easy either via phone or e-mail, and we never had a long wait before they could see our doggy. This is not a huge clinic, usualy with one doctor on duty at a time, supported by nurse(s) of course. Therefore the practice is relaxed and calm, and they really have time for everybody and really take care of details. Everybody is very flexible when it comes to special needs. They also very helpful and sometimes go well beyond their duty to make things easier and more comfortable to pets and their owners. To understand all this, I have to write a few words about what happened to us. Lord is approximately 9 years old Labrador (he is a rescue dog, so we don't know the exact date of birth) He has had some arthritis since he was in our family and with the right medication he was doing fairly well. In December 2014 we went for a check up and the doctor discovered a mass in his neck which turned out to be a cancerous tumor. Further tests, CT scan then surgery. That wasn't the end of the story, Lord's recovery was slow and painful, and it had never happened without the help and professionalism of the whole Hydrovet team. I can't praise enough Doctor Dias, who made dozens of sepcial arrangements for us with transport, appointments and everything. He was always there to give advise, and never was too busy to explain everything in detail and always helped to make the right decision about the next step even if were well beyond business hours. That means a lot to us, as neither my partner nor me has any sort of medical training. Also, I have to give credit to Emilya, who not only a great and highly professional nurse, but always has something to make our visit more comfortable for Lord, let it be another bowl of water, one more fluffy towel to lay on or just some cuddle to feel better. She also happy to help with our paperwork if necessary, altough this job is usualy done by Clair. What can I say about Clair? She is the Customer Service Manager / Superhero. When Lord's illness was discovered, we had some difficulties with the insurance company he was insured with as our doggy has been rescued from Hungary. We were struggling for weeks to put the paperwork together when Clair offered her help. Within 5 days our claim was approved, although she had to get Lord's medical history from Hungary. When she is not doing magic, she just simply keeps everybodie's record up to date and probably knows better when our the next check up, blood test, etc. due then us. All in all, for anybody who is looking for a great veterinary practice which is able to offer the very best treatment on site or in their main clinic in Surbiton with friendly, highly professional and careing staff and with on site hydrotherapy facilities, which is a big plus for a senior dog who has arthritis, I highly recomend to visit Hydrovet.
