Where do I start! Booked appointment at wrong clinic so I had to rearrange! Should have been a follow up but charged me £33 as to much time had lapsed! Charged me 200% mark up on prescriptions needed. Could have bought them online at the 3rd of the price but they said I would need to pay them £18 for each prescription! I did once rate this vet but now your animal is just a cash cow! They simply look at ways of maxamising revinue. Not confident the treatment the gave my dog will Work as I have already tried similar shampoo. I pushed for something else but they said they can discuss trying something else if this doesn’t work!! Way too overpriced now there's cheaper competition right across the road. £40 for a prescription and checkup for Propalin every 6 months, and that doesn't include medication. I'm not paying it just to be greated by miserable faces and have a vet feel up my dog for 5 minutes. They've lost my business. Read Less

They are a money grabing??????????? I pulled out from this vets for to many reasons they dont look after your pet properly. Your pet is a cash cow to them. One dog nearly died due to them. They do not fill in the insurance claim form correctly. You have insurance you still have to pay up front. They over charge for drugs your pet needs. After taking my dog to find out if she was pregnant I was charged 35 instantly for a lady to tell us she's having a phantom pregnancy and there are no pup's.. Well today I came home to half s puppy hanging out of my poor dog. She's got stuck half way for a little while and unfortunately it died at birth. Due to this information I was unexspecting and unprepared for this and feel this should never of happened. I'm gutted beyond belief. .. oh and wanted 1000 if they did a c section . Shocking! Terrible experience. I collected my dog after her operation to find her with poo caked into her legs, tail and under belly, staff hadnt even been aware she was in this state which made me think she had been left alone in her own filth for a long time. After waitong two weeks for her results i still cant get them, constantly told the vet will ring, never happens! Told them how unhappy i was with the service n the receptionist couldnt of cared.less! Awful service by a senior vet named Paul M. Had to get DEFRA certificate for my cat, and the paperwork was incomplete. Had to travel back on another 2 occasions to get this sorted, a day and a half before travelling abroad. The vets didn't seem to care, even though I had spent well over 300 on the immunisations. I have been a client of Gourley's veterinary practice for over 30 years. Prior to this time my parents were customers of the same practice and I have, therefore, been involved with pets and the veterinary practice all of my life. My experience has without doubt been of a 1st class service. Since moving back to this area in 1985 I & my golden retrievers (8 in 30 years) plus cats & guinea pigs have always been treated with respect, professionalism & kindness. It is important to me that the vets and all of the staff involved in the care of my pets show understanding, compassion to both my pets and myself and above all put the welfare of my pet of paramount importance. The vets I wish to highlight who have got to know me over the years are Paul and Jacintha Manchester who are based at the Ashton surgery. Mandy Smith, the clinical director has helped and supported me over the years on both a professional and personal front through some very difficult and emotional times. She has become someone I can and do trust to give me her professional and unbiased view involving my pets enabling me to make the right decision for my pet. At times these have been heart rending decisions but which on reflection have been the right decision. I have recently taken friends of mine to the surgery. They were staying with me when their 13.5 year collie needed veterinary treatment. They were impressed by the calmness and dedication of all the staff involved, thereby creating a calm and caring experience for their much loved pet who benefited from his visit and has now had surgery at his own practice in Shropshire and is doing well. The worst vet surgery! This surgery a lot more expensive that the surgery we used to use when we lived in London. On top of that every time I go to this surgery I'm on time but we end up waiting for at least half an hour. Today, for the first time since joining we arrived 10 minutes late. After 50 minutes of waiting the receptionist decided to tell me this was because I was ten minutes late and I would still have to wait a lot longer before the vet would see us - what a joke, poor communication, one rule for the surgery and another for the customer.Read Less
