Tameside Veterinary Clinic was opened by the co-owners Gavin McCoubrey and Diarmuid Currid back in 2000. The practice was completely refurbished in 2005 creating a state of the art veterinary clinic. Since opening the clinic has grown with the support of our fantastic clients and we now have a total of 7 vets working over 2 practices.
Gavin and Diarmuid opened their second practice, situated in Hyde back in June 2012.
We aim to provide a caring and friendly environment for both you and your pets, and pride ourselves on delivering the highest levels of veterinary care and customer service.

Extremely unhappy with the outcome because of the mistake of one of their vets. I rang the Ashton branch on Friday to order my dogs repeat prescription which is being reduced. I clarify this with the receptionist whom said it's on his notes to be reduced. I picked the medication up on Saturday morning. Once home I read the label to find out he had been be prescribed the dose he is currently taking. I phone the vets & the receptionist said they'd speak to the vet. I received a phone call later that afternoon to say the vets sorry of the error & if I came back to the vets they would change it for the new dose. However I was in work so the receptionist said to get them Monday. I received a phone call late afternoon from the vet to clarify the change of dosage & after some confusion the vet apologies for their error & said they had misunderstood the directions & that they were happy to give me the new dosage on Monday. I went this morning the receptionist said they'll get them & I'm due a refund. However after speaking to the vet the vet said they could not take the medication back as it's a Controlled drug & therefore I would not receive a refund although it's their error they would however take the medication back to half the tablets but I would be left with a month's supply I didn't need. I don't get how they can take the medication back to half the tablets but cannot accept them back in the first case, how they can not refund an error made by their own vet & also are quite happy to over prescribed a Control drug. Surely that is an unsafe medication issue? After 11 years of using this vets I would not be using them again & seeking further about the over prescribed Controlled drug issue

We have had to have our beloved cat put to sleep today.The care and love he received was unbelievable.They gave us time with him before and after,to cuddle him and say our goodbyes.They gave us paw prints and a lock of his hair.The treatment he received, and the treatment we received were first class.I would recommend this vets to anyone.

Just want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me tonight. My gerbil, Vinny, was very poorly when I returned home from work and knew he had to be put to sleep. I quickly rang and was told they are closing but if I can come straight away they will put him to sleep. So I did and they did. This is excellent, compassionate service and they understood my predicament and helped me massively. What a tough job to do and they did it professionally and with no fuss. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone.

I have used the Ashton surgery for several cats and always found the vets to be thorough and compassionate. Having visited multiple times since May alone after looking after a dumped mum and her kittens that turned out to have ringworm, they always fit us in and despite how contagious to people still did their best to comfort the little ones. They are kind and they care. We are still medicating the whole household and expect another trip in the next fortnight to hopefully (fingers crossed) get an all clear this time. The amount of little abandoned mogs we have fetched to you and you have fixed up for us have been countless. Thank you so very much.

I foster kittens for Millstream Animal Shelter. When the little kitties have been poorly This surgery have offered me an appointment on the same day. Service has been excellent, reception, nursing and veterinary staff all with a smile. Every vet I have seen have been kind and caring towards the kittens, taking time to ensure they have the best of care, I have never felt rushed. I have complete faith in this surgery.

I would like to know what kind of ''VET'' bans a person who is inside the surgery believing everyone present like/loves animals, just because they spoke out to the person in the room wearing Canada Goose on their clothing? Does this mean this ''VET'' believes it's OK for the chilling cruelty, unspeakable suffering and corporate denial suffered by the Canadian goose? An inhumane practice and severe animal cruelty brought about for someone to wear on their coat? Obviously this ''VET'' doesn't care about animals, just the money made from exploiting them under the guise of labelled a ''VET''!! Certainly one I wouldn't trust my animals with!

I have and always will recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a well trusted vets for there animals. I would like to take this time to thank everyone of them for the wonderful work they do!. I had the same vet both times for my puppies injections and microchip, he was great, very gentle with my chihuahua and took time to ask about my dog & to answer any questions and concerns I had. This is my regular vet as I've been several times with my animals for various treatments. The reception staff are always friendly and pleasant and are helpful. Moved to tameside veterinary clinic after being disappointed with customer service at another vets. At time our labrador was going through a rough time with illness and was extremely impressed with the treatment and service we received from all staff here. Sadly last week we had to make the decision to let our labrador go and the staff were very understanding and caring. Today we received a condolence card from tameside veterinary clinic with a beautiful message inside. Myself and my husband can't thank you enough

Great staff and service. We took Poppy in for her booster and despite her being very nervous she was treated perfectly. They advised also they now have to locate and check microchip, on checking they advise chip had not been registered following insertion August 2008. (Tameside Vets did not microchip Poppy.)
I contacted Anibase on Monday and they advised Vet could send note confirming Microchip number and they would register on database.
Tameside Vets confirmed they will send an email and hopefully everything should be fine. Just a worry that if anything had happened to Poppy they would not have had our details.
Please check your chips have been registered.

I cannot recommend this veterinary clinic highly enough. My dog recently had some surgical work done here; she has been pain-free throughout, the wound is beautifully neat and she was back to her normal self in no time at all. The clinic is spotlessly clean, the after care has been second to none and the staff are polite, friendly, compassionate and informative. My dog seems to think it's a treat when she attends her appointments! Thank you and keep up the brilliant work.

I had the same vet both times for my puppies injections and microchip, he was great, very gentle with my chihuahua and took time to ask about my dog & to answer any questions and concerns I had. I'm due back at the vets regarding an eye problem & I will be asking for the same vet again, I received excellent service (first animal I've registered here)

This is my regular vet as I've been several times with my animals for various treatments. The reception staff are always friendly and pleasant and are helpful. All the vets and nurses I've seen have too time with each animal and I've always felt unrushed and that they genuinely care for them. All round excellent veterinary clinic. X

Moved to tameside veterinary clinic after being disappointed with customer service at another vets. At time our labrador was going through a rough time with illness and was extremely impressed with the treatment and service we received from all staff here. Sadly last week we had to make the decision to let our labrador go and the staff were very understanding and caring. Today we received a condolence card from tameside veterinary clinic with a beautiful message inside. Myself and my husband can't thank you enough

Great staff and service. We took Poppy in for her booster and despite her being very nervous she was treated perfectly. They advised also they now have to locate and check microchip, on checking they advise chip had not been registered following insertion August 2008. (Tameside Vets did not microchip Poppy.)
I contacted Anibase on Monday and they advised Vet could send note confirming Microchip number and they would register on database.
Tameside Vets confirmed they will send an email and hopefully everything should be fine. Just a worry that if anything had happened to Poppy they would not have had our details.
Please check your chips have been registered.

I cannot recommend this veterinary clinic highly enough. My dog recently had some surgical work done here; she has been pain-free throughout, the wound is beautifully neat and she was back to her normal self in no time at all. The clinic is spotlessly clean, the after care has been second to none and the staff are polite, friendly, compassionate and informative. My dog seems to think it's a treat when she attends her appointments! Thank you and keep up the brilliant work.

Rang 3 times today was put on hold for a long time and this is not the first time. Staff very unhelpful and no partners available until next month (both on holiday) to discuss my concerns. Transferred to Abbeywood answered phone straight away and John very helpful. Also much cheaper.
