Absolutely inhumane, refused to see my 14 year old daughters very sick bearded dragon and told her to take her to St Helens IN MERSEYSIDE. We were willing to pay whatever for them to see her as an emergency, it's absolutely shameful that a veterinary Centre allows a creature to suffer. Another local vet ( who wasn't a reptilian specialist) saw her and unfortunately she was too sick to be saved. So thank you to Ashleigh veterinary Centre for your cruel and callous behaviour towards sick and suffering much loved pets. Read Less

Had 3 of my pet rats die in their care, vet constantly referred to my girl as 'he' which made me question if he'd even checked her over at all (when she was left in their care for a week with a respiratory problem). All died the same way, nobody is able to tell us what happened and why. 2 girls died recently and vet said they would ring the next day to explain what happened.. we didn't hear from them for 2 weeks despite calling them everyday. We also had a conversation over the phone saying we wanted them cremated that day, 5 days later, the girls were still in cold storage because nobody passed our message on. Then get lumped with a massive bill at the end of it. Vets were not very empathetic and we still don't know why our girls died when we left them at the vets to be checked out for respiratory problems. we also dealt with a different vet each time we went. Have since moved vets and having a much better experience with them. The only thing I will say is that the receptionists are nice and polite. They're the only ones who apologised for my loss. I’ve been a customer of Ashliegh’s for about 35 years, that’s actually longer than the owners have had it.. Bernard and Aiden were both spring chickens then. I have had many pets over the years, I hear people moan about a pound here or there. They have looked after not just my animals but also me, when I’ve been heartbroken they gave me time to grieve, in many cases hours with my pets. I recently had to take my English Springer in with a small tail injury, but as with tail injuries and springers it became very very nasty, I came under the caring hands of Beth Herbert who made my very poorly puppy very comfortable, making sure to see her every two days to continue her treatment, sometimes, may I add twice a day. The dreaded question arose about ten days into treatment that maybe if things didn’t get better docking Daisy’s tail would be the only option. Beth picked up my reluctance to except the easy option and went gung ho in a direction that not only saved my puppy tail, but gained her a friend for life. My puppy has had Syringes, plastic mesh, bandages, silver, honey and finally a bottle strapped to her tail, we now refer to Beth as Aunty Beth. So from the bottom of my heart and tip of Daisy’s tail, we say thank you. As MasterCard would put it Priceless. Please don’t haggle over the price of amazing service, also give them a little credit, they aren’t there just for the money, they are Vetrinary surgeons and nurses, they like yourself love animals, in fact they love all Animals, so if the receptionist is grumpy, o an member of staff feels I little off, remember they saved my dog today but may not of saved many others. Take a deep breath, hold your panic, take a moment and work together. Jacqueline Read Less

I took my dog twice with a lump no his leg that grew over a couple of weeks. On advice of vet I left it thinking it was a cyst. Lump grew bigger then the skin suddenly broke. Turned out to be an aggressive ulcerating tumour. My dog had his leg amputated and hoping it would stop spread of cancer it didn’t. 9 months later He is now palliative and will die very soon. This veterinary clinic is truly outstanding. I've never experienced such kindness and compassion where my pet hamster is concerned. I couldn't possibly consider taking my pets anywhere but here in the future. We had a sick hamster who was handled very gently and examined thoroughly by the vet (Shiva), treatment options were explained throughly and we were given the opportunity to consider them (in a non-judgemental way). After keeping her in overnight and taking great care of her, she sadly had to be put down. The process was made so much easier by our lovely nurse (Liz). A private room was booked and I was given the opportunity to see her at any stage of the process. My experience of vets in the past has been that they treat smaller animals very callously and are rather unsympathetic. The vet here would have operated to save her if she had been well enough, which is not something I have experienced before. If you are looking for a vet for a hamster, my advice would be to find one that specialises in exotic animals, and if you have the choice to come here, don't hesitate, they will do whatever it takes to achieve the most humane and caring outcome for both you and your pet.
