Like many other people I’ve had enough of this place; I’ve taken my pets there for years but that won’t continue. Many of the vets and nurses have been very good, however that has recently changed. Sadly I’ve heard many complaints about Buchanan’s Monton over the years and I no longer feel able to defend them. Too many reasons to go into. It suffice to say the place is best avoided.

We have finally snapped and moved to a new vet practice after many problems with this terrible one. They did not put enough stitches in after our dog’s castration leading to complications. In addition, the veterinary surgeons aren’t able to answer even the most basic questions or provide useful advice, they never answer the phone and appointments are often booked in incorrectly. Avoid at all costs. One star is extremely generous but unfortunately there is no provision for zero stars.

My dog, Cosmo, has been registered at the Monton branch since he was a puppy, he is now nearly 10 years old. Every member of staff takes the time to give him a fuss when he walks through the door, and are always helpful, and try to make his experience as pleasant as possible with the lovely nurses singing to him to try and relax him as he has a reputation for being a little dramatic. Although we tend to see a different vet, which isn,t a problem,the continuity of the nursing and reception team makes a big difference. Thank you Monton branch you are all lovely, and although he doesn’t show it, Cosmo, does like you.

My bulldog came to the Urmston branch last week for castration and I can not recommend them enough. Thank you to the veterinary nurse jess who looked after my boy from going into the vets and the whole time until picking him up and a Thank you to the vet who operated on him, for being so caring and considerate and treating my dog like her own. The veterinary nurse was very thorough from the start with making the whole procedure very clear to me through to medication and after care and put me at ease. Thank you so much to the team that look after our beloved pets, they always do their best and I will most definitely always use them.

Come to Buchanan’s in Urmston with my birds to have their nails clipped and check up, never had a problem finding an appointment and the staff are always lovely and gentle with one of our birds as he gets very nervous but they always get it over and done with as quick as possible. Parking always available outside and pricing is reasonable.

*Ex employee* Lack of staff meant when my dog went in for routine bloods, with what should of been a competent former colleague who was usually amazing, I was left with a nurse and a vet I did not know. On top of this I had been told that the bloods showed high creatinine...they did infact show normal creatinine as I just found out when I went to have the bloods repeated at another vets because I was told I would also need a urine sample by Buchanan's. Bloods came back normal, more money wasted.

Monton branch was so terrible as an experience we've simply chosen a different vet that we have to travel further for. Rude staff face to face, takes all their time simply to talk to you. Our cat had treatment that we paid for. Then on a later occasion following other treatment, the vets tried to claim on our insurance for that treatment already paid for. Then didn't give details to insurance in a timely manner delaying the insurance claim. My wife had to chase this up regula...rly with no progress. To top it off, the most recent communication was to tell us our cat was due her jabs on 1\1\1970. Helpful. Worst vets I've come across. And yes we did try to get issues resolved but were told there isn't a practice manager we can speak to. Shocking. See More

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all at Irlam clinic last night!! Around tea time i put my dogs into the back garden while i cleaned the floors in the house. 15 minutes later i went outside to find my little Lola pretty much dead on the floor.. A wasp next to her so i new what had happened. Thinking Buchanan's in Irlam had closed at 5pm i phoned the nearest vets to me. Hysterical on the phone i told them she was minutes away from death, stone cold collapsed on... the floor- lifeless! She had gone into anaphylactic shock from the wasp sting in her mouth. They refused to see her because she wasn't registered. I took a chance and phoned your Irlam clinic heartbroken in tears telling them she was dying in my partners arms and needed help quick. Without any questions asked the lady on the phone told me to get her straight down to them, they will clear the room and have it ready for her.. she got there and they took her straight through and put her on to oxygen and gave her all the meds she needed. She is now home in recovery and doing very well. Thank you so so much!! I didn't think she would make it to the vets never mind back home. Im so thankful and i couldn't recommend you more!! See More

Really don't like giving negative feedback but the level of service we've received recently is nothing short of amateurish. Not only did you leave our family dog sat in your freezer for a month after he'd passed away you've also passed on the cremation amount to a debt collectors, we haven't even got him back yet. You've caused distress to both my wife and children. I would suggest you review your practice. I will be writing to the veterinarian regulatory board. Only gave you one star so I could get the review on as well.

That said, I go for the quality of veterinary care offered - not the quality of the decor.

I have always used Beuchannan's in Irlam, since the surgery was on Silver Street, I have always had a good experience and they have looked after various pets over the years, the service now however is shocking! I took our cat to the practice in Irlam earlier this month, my appointment was at 09:40, I was still there an hour after at which point I noticed that they were letting people in before me who did not have appointments, one lady who turned up WITHOUT A PET even managed to get in before me, I asked why and the lady on reception was very dismissive, apparently the lady with no pet had an appointment at the chiropodist to get too so it seems that a good story trumps having an appointment. I have a professional career just like the vet that I needed to get back too. Anyway, I gave up shortly after and left as it did not look like I was going to get in any time soon. My partner called the practice to complain, the vet who she spoke too couldn't care less, she said that if I hadn't left that I would eventually be seen, you could imagine her on the other end of the phone just shrugging her shoulders! Anyway, I took our cat to All Creatures in Glazebrook which is excellent, if Beuchannan's works for you then great but I won't recommend the place.

The care from the vets is always excellent. I only wish we didn't have to wait 30+mins EVERY time we attend. When you have a dog that isn't sociable with other animals and stresses himself something silly when we attend it's not ideal. We attended yesterday for a post op check and very nearly left after 45 mins waiting without having been seen due to another appt.

Efficient , friendly and no problems would be words Id use to to describe Buchanan Vets. Me and Claire I. have two kittens Eli and Tyler and both have visited the vets to be spayed. They were checked by competent nurses who were friendly and informative and explained exactly what needed to be done before the surgery and afterward. They had regular check ups and all the surgeries were done on time with no complications and had no after problems either. The kittens obviously didn't want to go to the place but didn't seem to traumatised when they came out either though which is always great for keeping them calm as they may or may not need to be there a lot more in the future. If you live in the local are I recommend these guys highly but get pet insurance because prices become ridiculous when pets get ill.

Booking in for an appointment?Well, they don't want YOUR name, they want your PET's name.This is how much they care about your pet!I rang up for some information about booking in my now almost not a kitten to be spayed. Yes, unfortunate I know. This being my first kitten (and definitely not my last) my knowledge on this area was a little vague and I wanted to know more. I have plenty of friends and family who had explained it but I wanted it from the horse's mouth (pun definitely intended!).So! The friendly nurse receptionist listened to my request for more information carefully and gave a very thorough response. She told me everything I needed to know and told me it would be best to bring in the kitten for a check up (free) to see if she was old enough and ready for the operation.I brought Eli along to the surgery and she was very well behaved around the 3 huge dogs who just wanted to play! When were called in to see the vet, she was very friendly, lovely attitude and ever so careful with Eli. She gave her a thorough check and made sure to give me details about the best time to book her in. I booked Eli in for the operation and they gave me a leaflet of information to explain everything that would happen.I left feeling very happy with my experience and confident about the procedure. Eli seemed very happy too :)

Like many other people I’ve had enough of this place; I’ve taken my pets there for years but that won’t continue. Many of the vets and nurses have been very good, however that has recently changed. Sadly I’ve heard many complaints about Buchanan’s Monton over the years and I no longer feel able to defend them. Too many reasons to go into. It suffice to say the place is best avoided.

We have finally snapped and moved to a new vet practice after many problems with this terrible one. They did not put enough stitches in after our dog’s castration leading to complications. In addition, the veterinary surgeons aren’t able to answer even the most basic questions or provide useful advice, they never answer the phone and appointments are often booked in incorrectly. Avoid at all costs. One star is extremely generous but unfortunately there is no provision for zero stars.

My dog, Cosmo, has been registered at the Monton branch since he was a puppy, he is now nearly 10 years old. Every member of staff takes the time to give him a fuss when he walks through the door, and are always helpful, and try to make his experience as pleasant as possible with the lovely nurses singing to him to try and relax him as he has a reputation for being a little dramatic. Although we tend to see a different vet, which isn,t a problem,the continuity of the nursing and reception team makes a big difference. Thank you Monton branch you are all lovely, and although he doesn’t show it, Cosmo, does like you.

My bulldog came to the Urmston branch last week for castration and I can not recommend them enough. Thank you to the veterinary nurse jess who looked after my boy from going into the vets and the whole time until picking him up and a Thank you to the vet who operated on him, for being so caring and considerate and treating my dog like her own. The veterinary nurse was very thorough from the start with making the whole procedure very clear to me through to medication and after care and put me at ease. Thank you so much to the team that look after our beloved pets, they always do their best and I will most definitely always use them.

On top of this I had been told that the bloods showed high creatinine...they did infact show normal creatinine as I just found out when I went to have the bloods repeated at another vets because I was told I would also need a urine sample by Buchanan's. Bloods came back normal, more money wasted.

Monton branch was so terrible as an experience we've simply chosen a different vet that we have to travel further for. Rude staff face to face, takes all their time simply to talk to you. Our cat had treatment that we paid for. Then on a later occasion following other treatment, the vets tried to claim on our insurance for that treatment already paid for. Then didn't give details to insurance in a timely manner delaying the insurance claim. My wife had to chase this up regula...rly with no progress. To top it off, the most recent communication was to tell us our cat was due her jabs on 1\1\1970. Helpful. Worst vets I've come across. And yes we did try to get issues resolved but were told there isn't a practice manager we can speak to. Shocking. See More

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all at Irlam clinic last night!! Around tea time i put my dogs into the back garden while i cleaned the floors in the house. 15 minutes later i went outside to find my little Lola pretty much dead on the floor.. A wasp next to her so i new what had happened. Thinking Buchanan's in Irlam had closed at 5pm i phoned the nearest vets to me. Hysterical on the phone i told them she was minutes away from death, stone cold collapsed on... the floor- lifeless! She had gone into anaphylactic shock from the wasp sting in her mouth. They refused to see her because she wasn't registered. I took a chance and phoned your Irlam clinic heartbroken in tears telling them she was dying in my partners arms and needed help quick. Without any questions asked the lady on the phone told me to get her straight down to them, they will clear the room and have it ready for her.. she got there and they took her straight through and put her on to oxygen and gave her all the meds she needed. She is now home in recovery and doing very well. Thank you so so much!! I didn't think she would make it to the vets never mind back home. Im so thankful and i couldn't recommend you more!! See More

Not only did you leave our family dog sat in your freezer for a month after he'd passed away you've also passed on the cremation amount to a debt collectors, we haven't even got him back yet. You've caused distress to both my wife and children. I would suggest you review your practice. I will be writing to the veterinarian regulatory board. Only gave you one star so I could get the review on as well.

I have always used Beuchannan's in Irlam, since the surgery was on Silver Street, I have always had a good experience and they have looked after various pets over the years, the service now however is shocking! I took our cat to the practice in Irlam earlier this month, my appointment was at 09:40, I was still there an hour after at which point I noticed that they were letting people in before me who did not have appointments, one lady who turned up WITHOUT A PET even managed to get in before me, I asked why and the lady on reception was very dismissive, apparently the lady with no pet had an appointment at the chiropodist to get too so it seems that a good story trumps having an appointment. I have a professional career just like the vet that I needed to get back too. Anyway, I gave up shortly after and left as it did not look like I was going to get in any time soon. My partner called the practice to complain, the vet who she spoke too couldn't care less, she said that if I hadn't left that I would eventually be seen, you could imagine her on the other end of the phone just shrugging her shoulders! Anyway, I took our cat to All Creatures in Glazebrook which is excellent, if Beuchannan's works for you then great but I won't recommend the place.

When you have a dog that isn't sociable with other animals and stresses himself something silly when we attend it's not ideal. We attended yesterday for a post op check and very nearly left after 45 mins waiting without having been seen due to another appt.

Efficient , friendly and no problems would be words Id use to to describe Buchanan Vets. Me and Claire I. have two kittens Eli and Tyler and both have visited the vets to be spayed. They were checked by competent nurses who were friendly and informative and explained exactly what needed to be done before the surgery and afterward. They had regular check ups and all the surgeries were done on time with no complications and had no after problems either. The kittens obviously didn't want to go to the place but didn't seem to traumatised when they came out either though which is always great for keeping them calm as they may or may not need to be there a lot more in the future. If you live in the local are I recommend these guys highly but get pet insurance because prices become ridiculous when pets get ill.

Booking in for an appointment?Well, they don't want YOUR name, they want your PET's name.This is how much they care about your pet!I rang up for some information about booking in my now almost not a kitten to be spayed. Yes, unfortunate I know. This being my first kitten (and definitely not my last) my knowledge on this area was a little vague and I wanted to know more. I have plenty of friends and family who had explained it but I wanted it from the horse's mouth (pun definitely intended!).So! The friendly nurse receptionist listened to my request for more information carefully and gave a very thorough response. She told me everything I needed to know and told me it would be best to bring in the kitten for a check up (free) to see if she was old enough and ready for the operation.I brought Eli along to the surgery and she was very well behaved around the 3 huge dogs who just wanted to play! When were called in to see the vet, she was very friendly, lovely attitude and ever so careful with Eli. She gave her a thorough check and made sure to give me details about the best time to book her in. I booked Eli in for the operation and they gave me a leaflet of information to explain everything that would happen.I left feeling very happy with my experience and confident about the procedure. Eli seemed very happy too :)
