James is an amazing Vet. I trust him completely, he is honest and upfront. I have had animals all my life and can say that he is the best one I have ever been to. I had a elderly Dachshund who needed a lot of end of life tests and meds to keep him comfortable in his last 3 years. James was always very kind and gentle. When it was my dogs time to go James came to my house and euthanised him. It wasn't nice but it goes hand in hand with owning a dog. James was so kind. I will continue to take my other three dogs to James. I am very lucky I have found James the other vets before him were terrible.

Best surgery around and much better than my previous one (Chorlton Animal Medical Centre. Would not recommend them to my worst enemy). My vet didn't even flinch when my cat came out of her carrier and flicked her panic wee all over him. Very attentive to my 2 cats and at very reasonable costs.

This must be one of the best vets in the North West.
I had previously been to pets st home in Ashton who said they couldn't operate to remove lumps from my dog but when I went to Yew Tree they removed the lumps and did a fantastic job. They are a really caring and excellent team at Yew Tree and I would recommend then to any animal lover.

My cat had seen about three other vets before I brought him here. He was scratching compulsively and was starting to have bald patches. The Yew Tree Road vet I took him to was the first and only to look into the problem thoroughly and not dismiss it because 'cats scratch'. He gave the cat two types of pills, but in the end we stuck to only one (which also happened to be the cheapest - we paid 1 for a month's treatment) and our little boy was just fine a month later. His scratching is now normal and has a shiny coat with no bald patches. I also had my cat castrated with them, and brought a friend along with her cat too. We were both very happy with the procedure and the cats had no problems whatsoever. The nurses are very nice and helpful and the doctors treat the animals delicately. They don't try to shove down your throat expensive treatments. Would highly recommend!

I attended this vets for over 14 years with my last dog and have had not one complaint about the practice. James in particular was absolutely brilliant near the end with her, she had many tumours in a row and his advice was always in the best interest of her. We now have another rescue dog and see James for her too. The nurses on reception are also absolutely lovely. We live farther away now, but still come here.

Competent, professional, and caring. This surgery is the right place for you if you want your pet to be treated by skilled veterinarians who love animals. Staff were amazingly caring and looked after my cat who was diagnosed with FIP. They did much more than I would expect from a vet in terms of trying to make her as comfortable as possible during her last days of life. Cannot recommend highly enough.

If you are lucky enough to have a special friend in your life who needs a vet, then Yew Tree Veterinary practice is by far the very best place to take them. The nurses and vets are kind, knowledgeable, helpful and caring. As for James, my dog's vet, I cannot ever thank him enough for everything he did to help him. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Brilliant vets. I have taken my dog on several occasions for different reasons and the diagnosis and treatment has always been spot on.
Recently my dog became ill again and the vets recommended blood tests and various other tests. Tests showed an allergy in my dog and now he is fit and well. I wouldn't have thought of this if it wasn't for there recommendation.
Cannot fault at all. Brilliant

Two days ago our female dwarf hamster got sick and my wife took her to Yew Tree. (It was Sunday and all other vet clinics were closed.)
The vet there said she had an infection' and gave us antibiotics. Soon after my wife got back, our hamster's health suddenly deteriorated, and she died a few hours later. We couldn't give me medicine, because she wouldn't even open her mouth.
The examination the vet gave her was totally superficial - he didn't even bother to check her mouth, which was clearly the problem as she was drooling saliva and some kind of pus.
I don't know if our pet was salvageable at that point, but at least they should have made an effort.
Verdict: avoid at all costs.

It's always nervewracking taking a baby animal to the vet. What if it embarrasses me, you're thinking. What if there's something wrong with it? What if I've been a really bad owner and not known it? All these things were running through my head when young three month old Phoebe was popped in her pet carrier and taken to Withington's Yew Tree vet today.First of all, I love dogs and I love cats. But good lord, this is where dogs have the advantage. Most travel so well, and they're usually keen to meet new people so the strange man with the big needle doesn't seem in the least bit threatening. Cats, well, they're the misanthrope of the animal world. They adore a few select people but it takes a while to make friends with them. Now, Phoebe likes her cat carrier, for sure, which is a huge positive for a kitten... but she doesn't like being contained and she does NOT like engine noise. So here we were, taking what is normally rather a nervous, skittish and anxious kitten to an unfamiliar place in a now more heightened state of nervousness, skittishness and anxiety. Great. Just what on earth was going to happen on that table.I needn't have worried. Not only do you get a warm, lovely, friendly welcome at the reception desk, you get James. He's amazing. He's seen it all - nervous cats, cats who are phobic of everything from bins to bags to binbags to doors to shoes... like mine, angry cats, evil cats... he has one of his own. Our kitten was very healthy, he checked her over 100% and asked lots of questions about her behaviour and diet. We got tons of great advice about cat food and what little Phoebe would be needing in terms of shots and whatnot over the coming weeks.You can't put a price on a good vet, and now that there's a feline in our lives we're even happier we're moving closer to this establishment. Yay to the Yew Tree vets!

Last year, I moved into my first flat alone in Withington. Solo. No flatmates. I was a bit lonely, naturally, with the boyf living in a different city and all my mates living in Manchester city centre. I decided that the only thing for it was to get a cat and thus cement myself in my friends' collective consciousness as their gin-soaked mad aunt.The first place I went was the Yew Tree vet surgery, as I knew they'd have a list of rescue centres, and they did. I made plans to visit one or two, but then by chance found Alan (nee 'Taz') going free to a good home, from a good home. Instantly, I loved him. Instantly, he loved getting under my feet. It was truly special. Then I noticed that Alan wasn't eating much and seemed pretty sluggish. Obviously I did what any normal cat owner would do. I cried, I panicked, I lambasted myself for being a rubbish cat parent. I went to the vets.The service we got at Yew Tree was fantastic. I burst in with my cat carrier and lay prostrate at the receptionist's feet "I am awful!" I wailed "my cat is ILL!" James the vet was lovely and calmed Alan down instantly, with some sort of vet magic, did a thorough once over and pinpointed the problem instantly. 20 minutes later, with a prescription, all of Alan's vaccines etc, a charity catnip toy and the advice "Do not feed your cat Go-Cat, it is MacDonalds for cats!!!" ringing in my ears, I was off home, happy again, and not crying.I know that it doesn't seem much; cat ill, vet see cat, cat get better, but as pet owners know, it is so important to know that there's a vet you can trust. The Yew Tree vet surgery is a great place to go. As well as saving your fluffy friend's life, they sell a great range of healthy vet-approved pet foods, and animal toys, a lot of which are charity affiliated. Even now that we've moved into the city centre, we still make the journey into Withington when Alan needs a check up, because we know we can trust them to be thorough and professional, and nice to the cat.

Best surgery around and much better than my previous one (Chorlton Animal Medical Centre. Would not recommend them to my worst enemy). My vet didn't even flinch when my cat came out of her carrier and flicked her panic wee all over him. Very attentive to my 2 cats and at very reasonable costs.

I had previously been to pets st home in Ashton who said they couldn't operate to remove lumps from my dog but when I went to Yew Tree they removed the lumps and did a fantastic job. They are a really caring and excellent team at Yew Tree and I would recommend then to any animal lover.

My cat had seen about three other vets before I brought him here. He was scratching compulsively and was starting to have bald patches. The Yew Tree Road vet I took him to was the first and only to look into the problem thoroughly and not dismiss it because 'cats scratch'. He gave the cat two types of pills, but in the end we stuck to only one (which also happened to be the cheapest - we paid 1 for a month's treatment) and our little boy was just fine a month later. His scratching is now normal and has a shiny coat with no bald patches. I also had my cat castrated with them, and brought a friend along with her cat too. We were both very happy with the procedure and the cats had no problems whatsoever. The nurses are very nice and helpful and the doctors treat the animals delicately. They don't try to shove down your throat expensive treatments. Would highly recommend!

I attended this vets for over 14 years with my last dog and have had not one complaint about the practice. James in particular was absolutely brilliant near the end with her, she had many tumours in a row and his advice was always in the best interest of her. We now have another rescue dog and see James for her too. The nurses on reception are also absolutely lovely. We live farther away now, but still come here.

Competent, professional, and caring. This surgery is the right place for you if you want your pet to be treated by skilled veterinarians who love animals. Staff were amazingly caring and looked after my cat who was diagnosed with FIP. They did much more than I would expect from a vet in terms of trying to make her as comfortable as possible during her last days of life. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Recently my dog became ill again and the vets recommended blood tests and various other tests. Tests showed an allergy in my dog and now he is fit and well. I wouldn't have thought of this if it wasn't for there recommendation.

Two days ago our female dwarf hamster got sick and my wife took her to Yew Tree. (It was Sunday and all other vet clinics were closed.)
The vet there said she had an infection' and gave us antibiotics. Soon after my wife got back, our hamster's health suddenly deteriorated, and she died a few hours later. We couldn't give me medicine, because she wouldn't even open her mouth.
The examination the vet gave her was totally superficial - he didn't even bother to check her mouth, which was clearly the problem as she was drooling saliva and some kind of pus.
I don't know if our pet was salvageable at that point, but at least they should have made an effort.
Verdict: avoid at all costs.

It's always nervewracking taking a baby animal to the vet. What if it embarrasses me, you're thinking. What if there's something wrong with it? What if I've been a really bad owner and not known it? All these things were running through my head when young three month old Phoebe was popped in her pet carrier and taken to Withington's Yew Tree vet today.First of all, I love dogs and I love cats. But good lord, this is where dogs have the advantage. Most travel so well, and they're usually keen to meet new people so the strange man with the big needle doesn't seem in the least bit threatening. Cats, well, they're the misanthrope of the animal world. They adore a few select people but it takes a while to make friends with them. Now, Phoebe likes her cat carrier, for sure, which is a huge positive for a kitten... but she doesn't like being contained and she does NOT like engine noise. So here we were, taking what is normally rather a nervous, skittish and anxious kitten to an unfamiliar place in a now more heightened state of nervousness, skittishness and anxiety. Great. Just what on earth was going to happen on that table.I needn't have worried. Not only do you get a warm, lovely, friendly welcome at the reception desk, you get James. He's amazing. He's seen it all - nervous cats, cats who are phobic of everything from bins to bags to binbags to doors to shoes... like mine, angry cats, evil cats... he has one of his own. Our kitten was very healthy, he checked her over 100% and asked lots of questions about her behaviour and diet. We got tons of great advice about cat food and what little Phoebe would be needing in terms of shots and whatnot over the coming weeks.You can't put a price on a good vet, and now that there's a feline in our lives we're even happier we're moving closer to this establishment. Yay to the Yew Tree vets!

I was a bit lonely, naturally, with the boyf living in a different city and all my mates living in Manchester city centre. I decided that the only thing for it was to get a cat and thus cement myself in my friends' collective consciousness as their gin-soaked mad aunt.The first place I went was the Yew Tree vet surgery, as I knew they'd have a list of rescue centres, and they did. I made plans to visit one or two, but then by chance found Alan (nee 'Taz') going free to a good home, from a good home. Instantly, I loved him. Instantly, he loved getting under my feet. It was truly special. Then I noticed that Alan wasn't eating much and seemed pretty sluggish. Obviously I did what any normal cat owner would do. I cried, I panicked, I lambasted myself for being a rubbish cat parent. I went to the vets.The service we got at Yew Tree was fantastic. I burst in with my cat carrier and lay prostrate at the receptionist's feet "I am awful!" I wailed "my cat is ILL!" James the vet was lovely and calmed Alan down instantly, with some sort of vet magic, did a thorough once over and pinpointed the problem instantly. 20 minutes later, with a prescription, all of Alan's vaccines etc, a charity catnip toy and the advice "Do not feed your cat Go-Cat, it is MacDonalds for cats!!!" ringing in my ears, I was off home, happy again, and not crying.I know that it doesn't seem much; cat ill, vet see cat, cat get better, but as pet owners know, it is so important to know that there's a vet you can trust. The Yew Tree vet surgery is a great place to go. As well as saving your fluffy friend's life, they sell a great range of healthy vet-approved pet foods, and animal toys, a lot of which are charity affiliated. Even now that we've moved into the city centre, we still make the journey into Withington when Alan needs a check up, because we know we can trust them to be thorough and professional, and nice to the cat.
