Great staff on reception/supporting staff. Dislike of the vets that they staff however and their constant attempts of pushing whatever product they possibly can regardless of the animals health/situation. It feels like a lobbyist is seeing to your beloved pet rather than a trained vet who is really compassionate and intensely interested in their job. Cheers. Read Less

Waited over an hour in a pretty much empty room heavily pregnant.. was tempted to walk out. The actual vet was in and out of the room so relaxed and not looking busy at all.. When I finally got seen could not understand the vet one bit due to poor English and accent. I felt very awkward in the room as vet didn’t even bother speaking to me as if she was in a mood.. I had to ask what was wrong with my pet (after explaining symptoms my pet was having) instead of the vet explaining to me what it was. Not helpful at all. Really unprofessional place. Took my guinea pig Friday for an abcess. Paid 35 for treatment. He died yesterday. He received the wrong treatment i now know from an exotic vet! Hopefully in future they will book animals in with the right vet. He should have been seen by an exotic vet. Won't be returning to your malpas road branch. Took my dog there with internal bleeding in his ear, was sold 70s worth of ear drops we were told he "needed" and to phone back later for date of operation to stop the bleeding. Phoned back the next morning after being told the evening before they couldn't book it that soon, my dog had deteriorated overnight, very lethargic and ear twice the size it was the day before. Was told the only vet who operates works Mondays so I had to wait until Monday morning for the op (it was Wednesday at this point). Didn't care that I told them how lethargic he was and he'd refused to move from his bed to toilet or eat. It didn't sit right with me so contacted vets 4 pets for advice, their vet overheard the conversation and wanted him in asap. He was then operated on the same day and we were told he would've died by the end of the weekend if we left the operation until Monday. Also that the drops were pointless considering the op had to be done on his outer ear. The operation cost the same at vets 4 pets as it would've with yourselves except all our follow up appointments have been free and only needed to pay for medication. It seems the only "budget" you use is in your level of care.Read Less

Absolutely terrible vets took my little kitten to be spayed a very healthy little kitten nearly lost her life after having the operation was full of infection even though they assured me she wasn't!!! Was in kidney failure twice and not picked up, after taking her to a professional vets she finally made a full recovery after a week on drips and antibiotics! Would never recommend this vets to anyone very unprofessional and had the cheek to only pay for half the bill even though it was surly their fault! We're so glad we found Budget Vets at Bridgend. Dr. Dorian Simu is the best. We had our little boy neutered, and Dr. Simu was so professional and caring. We had been going to another chain vet in Bridgend where we never saw the same veterinarian twice...no continuity in care for our pets. The price for neutering at this other vet was 140....Budget Vets was 60. Less than half the cost for the same procedure. Dr. Simu, you've won us over...So glad we found you! Read Less

At Blackwood I Wouldn't even give them 1* ! Don't make the same mistake as I did by taking your dog there! They do not tell you about the potential side effects that could happen to your dog after having surgery done. when I brought it up with them they told me I should have basically googled it!!! Absolutely outraged with this sham of a veterinary surgery. Budget prices = budget service. My dog now has to see a behaviourist and now attends valley vets in ystrad mynach and I cannot fault them at all. Read Less

The best practice I have ever been to, today at Tonypandy the vet had all the time in the world for my boy Harley who had a seizure, even though we arrived bang on 6 she took her time to check him over, take his bloods and to sit down to explain everything to us. When we had to come as an emergency before with our other boxer dog Taffy, a different female vet was just as nice, he ate some mushrooms and she took loads of time to check him over properly. The practice is a fair way from where we live but for the care they provide my two boys its definitely worth the drive. After a terrible experience with a local vet, this practice has restored my faith that not all vets think about money. The staff at Tonypandy seem to genuinely care and you can't put a price on that. They wanted a 37 "emergency fee" before they would see my dog when he hurt his leg - on a normal Thursday morning inside working hours. If I didn't pay it they wouldn't see him til the next day. Animal lovers are not supposed to leave a dog with a possible broken leg with no treatment or even pain relief for 24 hours. They obviously care more about money than they do our pets. My poor boy has a really bad broken leg and has been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. The money isn't an issue, it's the principle and the complete lack of humanity. It was during normal workng hours, not a weekend or the middle of the night. They wanted that money or my boy could stay in agony until the next day. I've spent over 400 at a different vets today and am looking at a four figure sum if they can fix it. Glad you stood firm on your "emergency fee" now budget vets?Read Less

Thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Malpas Road branch for looking after my cat when I brought him in last Friday morning with a nasty tear in his tongue, thankfully I haven't had too many visits in the years I've been using them but every time I'm impressed with the staff's professionalism and compassion.
