Have been using budget vets on malpas road for years always happy with the service staff on front desk are always amazing and friendly. But today was different had my two small dogs booked in for a neutering back in December time was quoted £140 each as they are only small dogs. Get there knocked on the door to be told to wait in the car and call in. I should know this as it’s all on the appointment letter I was told! looked nothing on there that’s number one! Then called in to be told they will call me back when they are ready! Number 2. So had a call back from a young lad saying ok your booked in will go through questions with you then meet you at the door to sign all paper work then if your happy will take the dogs. Ok! Was asked what I was quoted as the price is £170 each. My response no I was quoted £140 each then goes on to say it was a estimate then also our prices have gone up. As I said well I wasn’t Informed of the price change to can’t do that you booked me in back in December at that price then decide to put your prices up he said nothing they can do as they don’t make the prices. But what he can do is give me a email to make a complaint to head office. I have now lost all confidence in them after today god knows what else they would say or charge if things didn’t go to plan. Budget vets on Malpas road Newport wales! I’m absolutely disgusted by what you said to me. They were willing to compromise on my dogs safety just because I had to pay for my dogs surgery before he had it, which was absolutely fine by me. I said to them I have £400 in my current account and that I could pay that now and also added I don’t like keeping a lot of money in there because I was a victim of fraud few years back. , I could whip to the bank to pay the rest which was £60 out of my savings account. The women’s reply over the phone was well we could drop the fluids off the bill which would make it £400 now to pay because we really need payment first before going ahead for the surgery. I said well your willing to compromise on my dogs safety so that you can get payment now if for an extra £60?? . She said yes! I was stunned 😳 I said he needs the fluids to raise his heartbeat during surgery as he has a heart condition. She said well I need payment now otherwise we will not do the surgery. I said I’m giving you £400 now and you have my dog. I’m not likely to not pay the rest in 30mins while I rush to the bank. It’s only £60 we’re talking about. She said well that’s our policy I’m afraid sir. So I went and picked my dog up straight away. No chance I’m letting them touch my dog again! If they are so hell bent on getting money this desperately then that shows no compassion for the pets in there care! So the rumours are true. They really are very much money orientated!
