Have been using budget vets on malpas road for years always happy with the service staff on front desk are always amazing and friendly.
But today was different had my two small dogs booked in for a neutering back in December time was quoted £140 each as they are only small dogs.
Get there knocked on the door to be told to wait in the car and call in. I should know this as it’s all on the appointment letter I was told! looked nothing on there that’s number one!
Then called in to be told they will call me back when they are ready! Number 2.
So had a call back from a young lad saying ok your booked in will go through questions with you then meet you at the door to sign all paper work then if your happy will take the dogs. Ok!
Was asked what I was quoted as the price is £170 each. My response no I was quoted £140 each then goes on to say it was a estimate then also our prices have gone up. As I said well I wasn’t Informed of the price change to can’t do that you booked me in back in December at that price then decide to put your prices up he said nothing they can do as they don’t make the prices. But what he can do is give me a email to make a complaint to head office.
I have now lost all confidence in them after today god knows what else they would say or charge if things didn’t go to plan. Supposed to be budgets vets.

Budget vets on Malpas road Newport wales! I’m absolutely disgusted by what you said to me. They were willing to compromise on my dogs safety just because I had to pay for my dogs surgery before he had it, which was absolutely fine by me. I said to them I have £400 in my current account and that I could pay that now and also added I don’t like keeping a lot of money in there because I was a victim of fraud few years back. , I could whip to the bank to pay the rest which was £60 out of my savings account. The women’s reply over the phone was well we could drop the fluids off the bill which would make it £400 now to pay because we really need payment first before going ahead for the surgery. I said well your willing to compromise on my dogs safety so that you can get payment now if for an extra £60?? . She said yes! I was stunned 😳 I said he needs the fluids to raise his heartbeat during surgery as he has a heart condition. She said well I need payment now otherwise we will not do the surgery. I said I’m giving you £400 now and you have my dog. I’m not likely to not pay the rest in 30mins while I rush to the bank. It’s only £60 we’re talking about. She said well that’s our policy I’m afraid sir. So I went and picked my dog up straight away. No chance I’m letting them touch my dog again! If they are so hell bent on getting money this desperately then that shows no compassion for the pets in there care! So the rumours are true. They really are very much money orientated! Very disappointed is a understatement! Be aware people!

Disgusting vets if you want a vet that is only interested in the money then look no further. Rather than listen to you and get to the bottom of what’s causing your pets issue, they would much rather just prolong the issue for as long as possible and charge you for all follow ups even though you go back repeatedly for the same issue. Other vets like vets4pets don’t charge for follow ups on repeat issues and you can get payment plans to cover the costs. Disgusting company disgusting vets and receptionists lack basic respect. If you want to be told your dog is nothing more than a luxury and mocked for not being able to afford repeat visits look no further

Cannot fault this surgery. Always a good service, everything explained thoroughly and great care taken of Eddie. Everything nice and clean and a separate waiting area for dogs and cats. My recent experience with them, concerning Eddie's skin problems was beyond excellent. They also took great care of my previous fox terrier Bertie, albeit for only a short time. Transferred here from my local vet too late for him really.

Won't be returning to your malpas road branch. Took my dog there with internal bleeding in his ear, was sold 70s worth of ear drops we were told he "needed" and to phone back later for date of operation to stop the bleeding. Phoned back the next morning after being told the evening before they couldn't book it that soon, my dog had deteriorated overnight, very lethargic and ear twice the size it was the day before. Was told the only vet who operates works Mondays so I had to wait until Monday morning for the op (it was Wednesday at this point). Didn't care that I told them how lethargic he was and he'd refused to move from his bed to toilet or eat. It didn't sit right with me so contacted vets 4 pets for advice, their vet overheard the conversation and wanted him in asap. He was then operated on the same day and we were told he would've died by the end of the weekend if we left the operation until Monday. Also that the drops were pointless considering the op had to be done on his outer ear. The operation cost the same at vets 4 pets as it would've with yourselves except all our follow up appointments have been free and only needed to pay for medication. It seems the only "budget" you use is in your level of care.

Was in kidney failure twice and not picked up, after taking her to a professional vets she finally made a full recovery after a week on drips and antibiotics! Would never recommend this vets to anyone very unprofessional and had the cheek to only pay for half the bill even though it was surly their fault! And that was a hard enough task DISGUSTING

The staff are friendly but they take all day to answer the phone or speak to people because they are so cheap they are overcrowded with customers. They must be making a fortune. They need more staff. And they need to clean up when they say they are going to.
When I was in there, a dog peed on the floor. They said, "dont worry its fine, we'll do it" and then they didn't . We had to wait an hour past our appointment time. Not clever. Everyone in there was moaning. One couple got up and left. Too busy. Even on a Tuesday.....worse than waiting for your doctor.....
After sitting around for an hour, we saw the vet and left.....walking through the dog pee they still hadn't cleaned up right in the doorway.....lovely......4 star only because of prices, and the nice vet. Not the service overall.

We're so glad we found Budget Vets at Bridgend. Dr. Dorian Simu is the best. We had our little boy neutered, and Dr. Simu was so professional and caring. We had been going to another chain vet in Bridgend where we never saw the same veterinarian twice...no continuity in care for our pets. The price for neutering at this other vet was 140....Budget Vets was 60. Less than half the cost for the same procedure. Dr. Simu, you've won us over...So glad we found you!

At Blackwood I Wouldn't even give them 1* ! Don't make the same mistake as I did by taking your dog there! They do not tell you about the potential side effects that could happen to your dog after having surgery done. when I brought it up with them they told me I should have basically googled it!!! Absolutely outraged with this sham of a veterinary surgery. Budget prices = budget service. My dog now has to see a behaviourist and now attends valley vets in ystrad mynach and I cannot fault them at all.

The best practice I have ever been to, today at Tonypandy the vet had all the time in the world for my boy Harley who had a seizure, even though we arrived bang on 6 she took her time to check him over, take his bloods and to sit down to explain everything to us. When we had to come as an emergency before with our other boxer dog Taffy, a different female vet was just as nice, he ate some mushrooms and she took loads of time to check him over properly. The practice is a fair way from where we live but for the care they provide my two boys its definitely worth the drive. After a terrible experience with a local vet, this practice has restored my faith that not all vets think about money. The staff at Tonypandy seem to genuinely care and you can't put a price on that. Thank you

They wanted a 37 "emergency fee" before they would see my dog when he hurt his leg - on a normal Thursday morning inside working hours. If I didn't pay it they wouldn't see him til the next day. Animal lovers are not supposed to leave a dog with a possible broken leg with no treatment or even pain relief for 24 hours. They obviously care more about money than they do our pets. My poor boy has a really bad broken leg and has been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. The money isn't an issue, it's the principle and the complete lack of humanity. It was during normal workng hours, not a weekend or the middle of the night. They wanted that money or my boy could stay in agony until the next day. I've spent over 400 at a different vets today and am looking at a four figure sum if they can fix it. Glad you stood firm on your "emergency fee" now budget vets?

As I said well I wasn’t Informed of the price change to can’t do that you booked me in back in December at that price then decide to put your prices up he said nothing they can do as they don’t make the prices. But what he can do is give me a email to make a complaint to head office.
I have now lost all confidence in them after today god knows what else they would say or charge if things didn’t go to plan. Supposed to be budgets vets.

Budget vets on Malpas road Newport wales! I’m absolutely disgusted by what you said to me. They were willing to compromise on my dogs safety just because I had to pay for my dogs surgery before he had it, which was absolutely fine by me. I said to them I have £400 in my current account and that I could pay that now and also added I don’t like keeping a lot of money in there because I was a victim of fraud few years back. , I could whip to the bank to pay the rest which was £60 out of my savings account. The women’s reply over the phone was well we could drop the fluids off the bill which would make it £400 now to pay because we really need payment first before going ahead for the surgery. I said well your willing to compromise on my dogs safety so that you can get payment now if for an extra £60?? . She said yes! I was stunned 😳 I said he needs the fluids to raise his heartbeat during surgery as he has a heart condition. She said well I need payment now otherwise we will not do the surgery. I said I’m giving you £400 now and you have my dog. I’m not likely to not pay the rest in 30mins while I rush to the bank. It’s only £60 we’re talking about. She said well that’s our policy I’m afraid sir. So I went and picked my dog up straight away. No chance I’m letting them touch my dog again! If they are so hell bent on getting money this desperately then that shows no compassion for the pets in there care! So the rumours are true. They really are very much money orientated! Very disappointed is a understatement! Be aware people!

Disgusting vets if you want a vet that is only interested in the money then look no further. Rather than listen to you and get to the bottom of what’s causing your pets issue, they would much rather just prolong the issue for as long as possible and charge you for all follow ups even though you go back repeatedly for the same issue. Other vets like vets4pets don’t charge for follow ups on repeat issues and you can get payment plans to cover the costs. Disgusting company disgusting vets and receptionists lack basic respect. If you want to be told your dog is nothing more than a luxury and mocked for not being able to afford repeat visits look no further

Cannot fault this surgery. Always a good service, everything explained thoroughly and great care taken of Eddie. Everything nice and clean and a separate waiting area for dogs and cats. My recent experience with them, concerning Eddie's skin problems was beyond excellent. They also took great care of my previous fox terrier Bertie, albeit for only a short time. Transferred here from my local vet too late for him really.

Hopefully in future they will book animals in with the right vet. He should have been seen by an exotic vet. I rang to tell them so hopefully itll save another guinea pigs life and this isnt repeated :-(

Won't be returning to your malpas road branch. Took my dog there with internal bleeding in his ear, was sold 70s worth of ear drops we were told he "needed" and to phone back later for date of operation to stop the bleeding. Phoned back the next morning after being told the evening before they couldn't book it that soon, my dog had deteriorated overnight, very lethargic and ear twice the size it was the day before. Was told the only vet who operates works Mondays so I had to wait until Monday morning for the op (it was Wednesday at this point). Didn't care that I told them how lethargic he was and he'd refused to move from his bed to toilet or eat. It didn't sit right with me so contacted vets 4 pets for advice, their vet overheard the conversation and wanted him in asap. He was then operated on the same day and we were told he would've died by the end of the weekend if we left the operation until Monday. Also that the drops were pointless considering the op had to be done on his outer ear. The operation cost the same at vets 4 pets as it would've with yourselves except all our follow up appointments have been free and only needed to pay for medication. It seems the only "budget" you use is in your level of care.

Absolutely terrible vets took my little kitten to be spayed a very healthy little kitten nearly lost her life after having the operation was full of infection even though they assured me she wasn't!!! Was in kidney failure twice and not picked up, after taking her to a professional vets she finally made a full recovery after a week on drips and antibiotics! Would never recommend this vets to anyone very unprofessional and had the cheek to only pay for half the bill even though it was surly their fault! And that was a hard enough task DISGUSTING

Cheap, friendly, have taken out the "immunisation for life" package - around 100 for a small dog. The staff are friendly but they take all day to answer the phone or speak to people because they are so cheap they are overcrowded with customers. They must be making a fortune. They need more staff. And they need to clean up when they say they are going to.
When I was in there, a dog peed on the floor. They said, "dont worry its fine, we'll do it" and then they didn't . We had to wait an hour past our appointment time. Not clever. Everyone in there was moaning. One couple got up and left. Too busy. Even on a Tuesday.....worse than waiting for your doctor.....
After sitting around for an hour, we saw the vet and left.....walking through the dog pee they still hadn't cleaned up right in the doorway.....lovely......4 star only because of prices, and the nice vet. Not the service overall.

We're so glad we found Budget Vets at Bridgend. Dr. Dorian Simu is the best. We had our little boy neutered, and Dr. Simu was so professional and caring. We had been going to another chain vet in Bridgend where we never saw the same veterinarian twice...no continuity in care for our pets. The price for neutering at this other vet was 140....Budget Vets was 60. Less than half the cost for the same procedure. Dr. Simu, you've won us over...So glad we found you!

At Blackwood I Wouldn't even give them 1* ! Don't make the same mistake as I did by taking your dog there! They do not tell you about the potential side effects that could happen to your dog after having surgery done. when I brought it up with them they told me I should have basically googled it!!! Absolutely outraged with this sham of a veterinary surgery. Budget prices = budget service. My dog now has to see a behaviourist and now attends valley vets in ystrad mynach and I cannot fault them at all.

The best practice I have ever been to, today at Tonypandy the vet had all the time in the world for my boy Harley who had a seizure, even though we arrived bang on 6 she took her time to check him over, take his bloods and to sit down to explain everything to us. When we had to come as an emergency before with our other boxer dog Taffy, a different female vet was just as nice, he ate some mushrooms and she took loads of time to check him over properly. The practice is a fair way from where we live but for the care they provide my two boys its definitely worth the drive. After a terrible experience with a local vet, this practice has restored my faith that not all vets think about money. The staff at Tonypandy seem to genuinely care and you can't put a price on that. Thank you

They wanted a 37 "emergency fee" before they would see my dog when he hurt his leg - on a normal Thursday morning inside working hours. If I didn't pay it they wouldn't see him til the next day. Animal lovers are not supposed to leave a dog with a possible broken leg with no treatment or even pain relief for 24 hours. They obviously care more about money than they do our pets. My poor boy has a really bad broken leg and has been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. The money isn't an issue, it's the principle and the complete lack of humanity. It was during normal workng hours, not a weekend or the middle of the night. They wanted that money or my boy could stay in agony until the next day. I've spent over 400 at a different vets today and am looking at a four figure sum if they can fix it. Glad you stood firm on your "emergency fee" now budget vets?

Thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Malpas Road branch for looking after my cat when I brought him in last Friday morning with a nasty tear in his tongue, thankfully I haven't had too many visits in the years I've been using them but every time I'm impressed with the staff's professionalism and compassion. Also, my boy was high as a kite from his painkiller shot and it was very amusing to witness haha... He's doing great now, thanks guys!
