I have just returned from Summerhill after having my cat euthanised. I arrived and was taken in before a couple with a puppy who had arrived before me. The vet made it clear that he was doing me a favour by letting me jump the que.(I am sure that the couple did not mind due to the circumstances) and hurriedly shaved my boys front leg cutting him in the process, after administering the drug I was rushed out of the surgery. I have had many animals throughout my life and when the time has come for me to say good bye every vet that I have used including Mrs Morris has allowed a couple of minutes after to gather myself. Not this one. I was charged £122 for a 5 minute consultation. That works out at £732 per hour! Out of hours or not that is extortionate! If I had a choice I would not have used Summerhill as this is not my first bad experience with them... however my priority was to get my boy out of pain. I am beside myself with grief and disbelief that a profession which should be a vocation dedicated to the love of animals has become a money making conveyor belt! Read Less

I have been using summerhill vets for a long time now and have always had a brilliant service from the vets and all staff, they have always treated my extended family with care and proffesionalism in both sad, worrying and wriggley nail clipping times. I run a small cat rescue plus foster for various others ,summerhill vets are the best vets in this area ,I travel past a few to get to summerhill but wouldn't want my animals treated anywhere else ,their out of hours is fantastic and reasonably priced ,receptionists are so helpful and go out of their way to get appointments for me ,Mrs Jean Morris is an amazing vet and can resolve problems that vets in other practices have missed regarding my fosters ,she is amazing with all of my animals but one in particular with cancer she went above and beyond for her and gave her 11 months of quality time when other vets said nothing could be done .the lady is a legend .I've also spent some time visiting some of my poorly animals at the kennel and cattery area it's immaculate and the vetinary nurses are wonderfull with them ,whilst .keeping it spotlessly clean they also manage cuddles ,reassurance to animals needing ops and in recovery although summerhill is a business it's not about money ,it's about the animals welfare I'd recommend them to anyone ,well done summerhill for all the fabulous work you do xx Read Less

DO NOT USE THIS VETS! I have given 1 star as this is the lowest that I can choose but if I could then I would not give them any stars as they are useless. So far I have given them £500 for absolutely nothing. There is a high chance that my dog has Lymphoma however after taking her into Summerhill for an initial test and then a biopsy they still can’t say 100% if it is. They now are advising that I have to take her back in for a further test which will cost another £100 so they can say for sure if it is Lymphoma. They advised that the test will take 2 weeks to come back but if it is Lymphoma & it’s not treated with Chemotherapy then she will last weeks, maybe months. They are completely incapable and I would not recommend this vets to anyone. Read Less

I have to say I loved the place, but since they have sold out to some big conglomerate they leave a git to be desired. They seemed quite happy to let my dog die unless they got the cost of the life saving ooeration up front. Not happy as having been a client since there opening the business. Read Less

Summerhill were brilliant when my sister's cat was taken there after being hit by a car. The older female vet was so apologetic that she had to put the cat down. She even did a post mortem to make sure that she made the right choice for him. If this veterinary surgery was closer to my home, I would absolutely use them. Read Less

Very helpful. Had problems with our cat for a very long time. After the injections given by the vet, the cat started healing and came back to normal after about 2-3 weeks. She is a very happy cat now and wants to play all the time, unlike before. Maybe not the cheapest but you pay for the service. Will definitely be using in the future. Read Less

I had a complaint about my dogs treatment at this vetinary surgery as I believed our pet dog had been treated at this surgery for the wrong complaint which probably shortened her life + her extra suffering, anyway I have e/mailed Summerhill Surgery 3 times with my complaint last year + once this year but to date they hav'nt had the decency to reply, so I cant think why the other reviewer had more luck there than we had.Read Less

After 3 unsatisfactory visits to another vet, which failed to resolve the problem of my cat's abcess, Summerhill were brilliant. They adressed the issue immediately, operated on my cat and the abcess, which had been there for 6 months, was gone. Their care meant there was no infection and my cat, who had the abcess when I recued him from the RSPCA, was able to begin a much happier phase of his life. Read Less
