Reposting as I accidentally gave 3 stars when I meant to give 1 Nasty experience with horrible vet. I got my 6.5 month old cat spayed and asked for midline spay for showing because their fur grows back a different colour with a flank spay. Midline is how many vets do it and is common practice. A lady on the phone said no problem and made a note. The vet told me afterwards that she wouldn't have needed that, it wouldn't make a difference to her fur but meant her operation took over twice as long. He was really inconsiderate and I felt guilty like I'd massively inconvenienced him. I actually apologised out of awkwardness and he said nothing. He was barely looking at me and pulled her roughly onto her back to show me the wound and how he'd had to do the incision differently, like blaming me for it all. Also told me it was difficult because she's so small... she's been in heat twice so 2 times she could've gotten pregnant as a kitten! She's also a healthy weight for her age and not small at all! AVOID this horrible, insensitive, unsympathetic man and go to another vets. I was quoted £88 on the phone and then afterwards it was £135! They didn't tell me they hadn't included any of the anaesthetic or painkillers and over £13 for a cone when they said before the op that she wouldn't need one! I have one at home but obviously didn't bring it. He had 0 care for her or my feelings when I was so worried as it was. Also Didn't introduce himself or say anything nice about my cat or reassure me. Didn't invite me to the room, just walked in. I had to ask if I'm allowed in and he said "if you like" I have signed up to a new vet and won't be returning. Read Less

Find another Vet!!! I have been a client of Mr Kynoch for several years, i had heard rumour around the village that he is only in it for the money but I like to make my own judgements on people, on saying that I have only visited him just for inoculations as luckily my 16 year old dog has never been ill, not once her whole life. Anyway, we are planning to leave the country at the end of the month so I needed a health certificate to do so, so I arrange to chat to the vet regarding what was needed. My dog is a toy poodle, fit/healthy but she has a lot of decay on her teeth (common in older dogs), due to her age and a heart murmur I have been reluctant in electing surgery as I know the risks under anaesthesia. Basically Mr Kynoch refused to give my dog the certificate without first having the procedure to remove the tooth decay. When asked of her chance of surviving the anaesthesia he gave me 70-75 %. What a choice!! He admitted that apart from that she was healthy so I basically felt he was blackmailing me to get the paperwork needed and to him it was about the extra £500 he could charge me to obtain it. Let’s be honest here, at no point has my dog shown she is in any pain with her teeth, she jumps around and eats normally, it at any point I thought she was, I would have her at the vets immediately and if she died under anaesthetic then I had no choice. But at 16 any week/month i have with her is a blessing so I’m not going to take a chance on her life unless I have too. I have now cut ties with this surgery and on speaking with another vet who is more than happy to sign off her health certificate so she can travel. In summary, in my opinion it wasn’t about her health or her welfare, at 16 she probably hasn’t many months /years left, it was how he could get more money out of us. There are far better vets out there, I would look elsewhere if I was you. Read Less
