At Companion Care we know your pet is a much loved part of the family and you want them to enjoy a long, healthy life. This is why our veterinary teams, made up of animal loving experts, firmly believe in providing the highest level of care and treating every pet they see like they would their own. Every Companion Care practice is equipped with the latest in technology, which means we can offer your pets the personalised care they need. Our practices are also designed to make your pet’s time with us as comfortable as possible; just like kids don’t always like going to the dentist, we know pets don’t always like going to the vets! Our waiting areas are light and spacious (and with floors that can cope with little accidents) and we also have separate dog and cat wards so your pet can recuperate more comfortably after any treatment. Our vets will explain all clinical terms so you fully understand what is happening to your pet and you are fully involved in their treatment plan. This also includes being completely transparent in our pricing, so you can make an informed choice on the treatment that you want your pet to receive. Come and see for yourself at your local Companion Care, why not take a practice tour?

The staff are always so friendly and helpful no matter the reason for being there. Last night I came home and my rabbit was poorly. Called the vets straight up, the receptionist was lovely and reassuring, and booked us in for an appointment for 20 mins later. We got her straight there, she was seen almost immediately. The vet explained everything clearly, gave her some pain relief and us some medicine for her. She told us how to administer the medication as we were clueless, and we booked her straight in for a follow up appointment. We already have a much happier bunny and by extension a much happier household! Thanks to the Companion Care team for being so efficient and professional! Read Less

Just by looking at my puppy they diagnosed my dog with a disease that can only be diagnosed after radiography. I got an estimate for the sugery costs BEFORE they would have looked at an appointment for radiography. I had my little one checked out with another vet who conducted a thorough examination and found what the problem was - not even close. The little one does not need a surgery, not even a radiography, and guess what, he DOES NOT EVEN NEED TREATMENT, but Companion would have happily opened up a healthy 8 month old puppy just to get the payment. I will never ever take my dog to this surgery again. Read Less

My complaint is aimed at the cost of a written prescription. I always buy flea product online because 27 versus 60 odd for 6 pipettes is no contest. Why then, am I charged a whopping 12 for a prescription?
In the last few years I have seen this go from free of charge, to a fairly modest 6 to this massive hike.
Just a piece of paper which used to be put in an envelope but dont even do that anymore. I am still saving money online even with the charge but that doesn't make it ok.
Sorry, I just feel ripped off. Not right. Read Less

This veterinary practice is ripping customers off by charging hefty fees for medicines/ products you can buy for a fraction of the price online. I purchased a flea treatment for the house called Indorex, from them for 25 and was led to believe this was a treatment only available from the vets. I have since seen the exact same product for 12 at Tesco and 8 at pet supermarket. When I asked for my money back they declined. I should have been a bit more Internet savvy and known better. However, I feel sorry for perhaps more elderly people who may not be as internet savvy and are being ripped off. Such a shame. I have to say that the reception staff are excellent and the girl that was in training and dealt with my complaint was excellent. It's the greedy owners that should have been dealing with the complaint as they are the ones reaping the rewards for overcharging unsuspecting customers. Read Less

Awful service. Don't use this Vet franchise. Anywhere.
I'm sure one or two of them must care about the animals - why would they have chosen that profession otherwise? But their human care is non-existent.
Receptionists are curt to the point of being rude and clearly have little training or support from their superiors, giving them no autonomy to make decisions or use initiative.
Our dog, whom has been registered at this Vet for years was recently injured so we took him to a near branch of Companion Care (NOT this Portsmouth one) as it was closer and the dog was bleeding heavily. The other branch patched him up poorly but promptly. When we took him down to this Portsmouth branch to ask them to re-apply dressings which had been hastily applied elsewhere as they had sloughed off overnight, these guys wanted to charge for the same treatment, stating 'he wasn't treated by us yesterday so we have to charge from the beginning.'
We only needed a bandage checking and re-applying.
EVEN AFTER the other branch had contacted them and asked them to re-bandage as a gesture of goodwill between industry colleagues, CC Portsmouth refused to do so without charging a further consultation fee.
So you have one branch who can't bandage a Dog's leg effectively another who will not act with compassion (nor common courtesy). Small Claims Court ensues.
