Find another Vet!!!
I have been a client of Mr Kynoch for several years, i had heard rumour around the village that he is only in it for the money but I like to make my own judgements on people, on saying that I have only visited him just for inoculations as luckily my 16 year old dog has never been ill, not once her whole life.
Anyway, we are planning to leave the country at the end of the month so I needed a health certificate to do so, so I arrange to chat to the vet regarding what was needed. My dog is a toy poodle, fit/healthy but she has a lot of decay on her teeth (common in older dogs), due to her age and a heart murmur I have been reluctant in electing surgery as I know the risks under anaesthesia. Basically Mr Kynoch refused to give my dog the certificate without first having the procedure to remove the tooth decay. When asked of her chance of surviving the anaesthesia he gave me 70-75 %. What a choice!! He admitted that apart from that she was healthy so I basically felt he was blackmailing me to get the paperwork needed and to him it was about the extra £500 he could charge me to obtain it. Let’s be honest here, at no point has my dog shown she is in any pain with her teeth, she jumps around and eats normally, if at any point I thought she was, I would have her at the vets immediately and if she died under anaesthetic then I had no choice. But at 16 any week/month i have with her is a blessing so I’m not going to take a chance in her life unless I have too.
I have now cut ties with this surgery and on speaking with another vet who is more than happy to sign off her health certificate so she can travel.
In summary in my opinion it wasn’t about her health or her welfare, at 16 she probably hasn’t many months /years left, it was how he could get more money out of us. There are far better vets out there, I would look elsewhere if I was you. Read Less

Awful! It is with a heavy heart I have to write that I let my dog down by taking him here for his euthanasia.
I ensured I rang ahead of time to request he be sedated (which can be given under the skin or into a muscle and is a fairly common way to do this) prior to the injection to save him the stress of his sore arthritic legs being touched. On arrival (40 mins late) the Vet (Kynoch) argued with myself over the time scale of this , unwilling to wait the extra 10 -15 mins it would take. I relented unfortunately surprised he would act like that at this time. He muzzled my boy and restrained him meaning I could not even reassure him and stroke him as he passed away.. in a struggle! Then leaving the room (to hand write and itemise the bill he promptly shoved in our hand whilst saying our goodbyes) he could be heard laughing and joking about his nurses social life just outside the door. Racked with guilt for my dog I popped back in to let his nurse know my thoughts, only to hear him expressing his own about us! Unprofessional , lazy, money orientated and lacking any ounce of compassion. Didn't so much as pat the dog on the head. Happy to take our money at each visit though. I strongly believe this Vet needs to think if his heart is still in this job Read Less
