Cats Protection Fareham - kittens safely delivered by Heathside Veterinary surgery. I don't say this lightly, I was absolutely in awe of Jeremy and the team today, when they helped a young cat who had been birthing for almost 24 hours. Jeremy took over with such a calm, kind and caring manner, I was totally at ease and confident that she was going to get the best care, and I was absolutely right. At no point was I left wondering or worrying, I was kept up to date every step ...of the way and was bursting when the first call came in to say that number three was safely delivered..then number four. We see some wicked acts of cruelty and neglect at Cats Protection, but days like today help to ease those memories. Hands down the best veterinary surgery around. From the ladies at the desk to those working behind the scenes and also the vets themselves they put you and your furry babies first! Had to put my lovely 17 year old cat down yesterday and I have to say that David and the team made the whole process run so smooth, keeping my baby comfortable until we could get to her and talking me trough everything, at every step of decision making. The empathy and understanding from the staff puts you at ease. Would never trust anybody else with our animals. I recently adopted a rescue staffy, and took her for a check up to make sure everything was OK with her. The lady on reception greeted both of us in a very friendly manner and offered my dog a treat. We chatted for a few minutes until Jeremy was ready to see us. Jeremy called us in and took a few minutes to speak to my dog and make friends with her before I got her up on the table. He gave her a thorough check over and reassured me she seemed in good health. The rescue had rehomed her to me as potentially unspayed and my main purpose of visiting the vet was to discuss this as well as a small hernia. Jeremy found a scar on her tummy which made him think she probably had been spayed in the past. He suggested waiting to see if she comes into season and the hernia was not serious and could be done at the same time. We also discussed vaccinations, flea treatment and teeth cleaning. I felt very much involved in the discussion and I will not hesitate to bring my dog back to heathside for ongoing health care. I was also offered a tour of the premises, although I declined because my dog was a bit excited and anxious to leave!Read Less

Heathside Vets have been brilliant! Unfortunately, just before Christmas I had to have my 13 year old Golden beautiful Labrador put to sleep , Jeremy and his team were Very very sympathetic, caring and just totally understanding that this was a traumatic time for me and did the procedure with such kindness and compassion. Recently my little Westie had to go into them for X-rays on his lungs and dental work. It was recommended by Jenny the Vet that they also gave him a Cardio exam due to his nearly 10 years of age. They regularly telephoned me with updates as to how Charlie was doing and with the results of the Cardio and blood tests, thankfully they were all ok. I collected Charlie in the evening after a thorough and in detail chat with Jenny about what they had found and what was to happen next, I left there feeling very knowledgeable !! It is such a blessing to know my little boy was well looked after and I can't recommend Heathside enough! I moved to Heathside Vets about 6 months ago on the recommendation of my dog walker. I have been so impressed with them that I wish I had moved much sooner!! Nothing is too much trouble, I never feel rushed and I feel that my understanding and feelings are as important as treating my dog. They take time to explain everything fully and give a variety of options. My dog was very nervous of the vets before coming here, now he goes in and even pushes the door open to an ever friendly welcome from the team. Everyone has a genuine love of animals and their health and wellbeing takes priority. I feel lucky to have found Heathside and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants the best care for their animal and by best I mean overall picture of what is right for the animal having considered everything. As our first ever visit to Heathside, I must tell you how absolutely thrilled I was at the experience! We were greeted by a really friendly front of house team, who knew my dogs name and they greeted her too; my old vets, despite the number of visits over the years, never knew who Lady was! They came over to us and said hello to Lady and put her at ease in the waiting room. David then came out to the waiting room to welcome us, and in we went. Straight away David could see that Lady was a bit nervous and timid, so before I knew it, he was down on the floor with her stroking her and making her feel more comfortable. Then he stayed on the floor to listen to her heart, before she settled down and then moved her up to the table. I have never had that before! I was so shocked and taken aback at how he just didnt even think, his main priority was making sure my dog was comfortable and at ease, it was just amazing. David then carried out an ultrasound on Ladys heart, and called Meg in to help. Again, another team member who was amazing. Meg held Lady and stroked her and spoke to her, keeping her calm throughout the whole procedure. It was just lovely. Once the ultrasound was over, David went through everything with me and was very thorough and detailed, whilst still explaining things in an easy to understand way. He really put my mind at ease, and I physically had a sigh of relief. He then reassured me that he would have a listen to her heart murmur each year, doing another ultrasound if needed. I really felt like he cared and that my girl was in the best hands and he was going to keep an eye on her for me. Finally, on leaving, another member of the front of house team held Lady whilst I ran to the loo (pregnancy does that to you!) and I came back and Lady was happy. In the waiting room and in the consultation room, Lady seemed relaxed and was wagging her tail, which she has never done at a vets before! Overall, I left feeling that I had just had the most personal, caring, friendly and thorough visit to a vets surgery I had ever had. I really feel like Lady is in the best hands, and despite a long journey to get to you, I have now become a Client and wont hesitate to bring Lady back. I will be recommending you to everyone! We've used Heathside since we moved here 13 years ago, with our cats. They are always caring and can't do enough for us and our cats. We lost our beloved boy recently, after a long illness and a Jenny and David were caring and compassionate throughout. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Read Less
