Pet Vet

Highly Recommended! My family have been bringing our pets to this practice for many years, ranging from a tortoise, to cats, and dogs. We have always experienced first class treatment and the well being and health of the animals has always been put first. We have nothing but praise for Monique and her staff. I wasn't go to leave a review as I felt it was too late but think now it needs to be said..I had not long moved to the area and registered my Dogue De Bordeaux with this "Vet" within a month my dog became quite poorly and I took her to see Monique she was terrified of my dog who was a gentle giant, she made me muzzle my very poorly dog and I had to leave her with them for blood tests etc when I went back four hours later my dog was still muzzled !!! And I was told my dog is very very ill and with all I was told I knew it wasn't fair to let my dog suffer any longer but she was quick to say we can "try" this and "try" that but with no Guarantee my dog would recover !! I made the heartbreaking decision to end my fur babies suffering, 9yrs I'd had her and I hate they fact that her last moments with me was lying on the floor together while she was made to continue to wear her muzzle while she was put to sleep 😢 Then a few months later I got my new dog who is an American Bulldog..against my better judgement I took him to her, I felt that as he was such a little puppy she would be ok with him But when he was 3 months old I took him for his last puppy vaccination and he was nibbling her hand she immediately stopped looked at her hand all over and when my daughter said he's only a little pup Monique replied with "my hands are my profession" ..I mean what harm could a little pup do ? I told her is is a bit nibbly and she told me to put a muzzle on him to stop it, I took her advice but when I took him to his puppy training classes they told me Do not muzzle a little pup it is normal for them to do this. Cut a very long story short each time I went in for anything he had to be muzzled. It was then I made the decision to not go to her anymore as my dog went into serious stress each visit. Last August my dog needed to see an emergency vet and as I decided not to take him back to her I had to see a late night emergency vet and when I claimed on my insurance for the visit I received an email from them to say they were cancelling my Liability insurance and outlined the reasons the reason being this : Pet Vet had a record on my dog that said at him being 3 months old I had took my dog in and had asked advice as my dog was biting, Monique had put that she had advised a muzzle and that she had told me My dogs breed was Bred for Fighting !! So now I have had to pay for a Dog behaviour Specialist who is helping to correct a few wrongs !!! My dog now is registered with a new vet who is amazing and my dog is happy when we go to see them...So Please unless you have a Hamster don't go to this vet !!! Read Less

Been using this vets for a while now, but never again.I find Monique at Thornhill park road very abrupt.we have a 3 yr old labrador which she treats, but have a lab puppy aswell where we take elsewhere.Conversation with my wife and the new vet got onto the subject of giving milbamax and Advocate together.Apparently you should never ever give these two drugs together throughout a dogs life as double dosing yet this vet gave us both.This is the reason why i will never take my dog to this vet again, also the terrible reviews.bye bye pet vet....... Monique the vet is Miserable, abrupt and unsympathetic to dogs especially larger breeds, your do great if you have a cat, they are about the money, I won't go into detail but steer clear, far better vetanarianys that will offer a more caring, sympathetic and animal loving manner. If you love your animal please do your homework and find a more suitable vets that actually care and won't take your last penny from you by creating problems that are not there! Read Less

Absolutely disgusting especially the older woman in there works at both vets. Doesn't care about your pet all about the She said our dog needed ACL surgery which costs 2500 (approx) Managed to get the money together then when we went to book him in she sent someone out with a printed out estimate of Xrays which ALSO needed to be done...this costing an extra 956. Asked to speak to her but she said she was too busy. Heard a lot of bad things about this Dragon! A dog also died in her care as it was allergic to something but she decided to call the owner 6 hours later. STAY WOW CLEAR!!! Her name is Read Less

I phoned to make an appointment for my dog to have her nails clipped I was quoted 15-20. So I took her up and the vet clipped her nails then proceeded to scan her and say she needed a special diet so as I went to pay they came put with a bag of dog food. In the end this visit cost me 72, I wasn't even asked if I wanted her too have a scan and didn't ask if I needed the dog food.Read Less

Superb - The whole practice is professional, knowledgable and fantastic. I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Our little dog had a stroke and died at home. I had my cats neutered and spayed i have heard bad reviews but I went their and they are absolutely fantastic! They adored all my cats and they helped out in every situation. Very polite and understanding I do recommending this vet. Thank you to Rodger and other members of staff! Read Less

Went to the Vets this evening as my dog has cut her paw, older woman with a foreign accent let me put the muzzle on my dog which was a struggle as she was fidgeting, she gets uneasy in the vets but never aggressive. The vet tried to turn her around and keep her still by grabbing the side of her face & ear my thoughts were she tried to grab her by the scruff but her actions showed she didn't really care too much where she grabbed her, I asked her not to handle my dog in that way but the vet didn't reply. After the muzzle was on it was a struggle to look at her paw due to her still fidgeting - the muzzle was quite tight already as i could just about fit my little finger between the muzzle and her face and then out of nowhere, no aggression shown & no indication to me she grabbed my dog and tightened the muzzle so hard my dogs nose was squashed against the front of the muzzle and she was making a few noises where it was a struggle to breathe - I told the vet this was too tight as she cant breathe properly but i was ignored. i got the muzzle off eventually, with difficulty as it was soo tight and then i just walked out , took my dogs home then went back to confront her , her excuse was she had to protect herself yet the muzzle was already tight enough and no aggression was shown . the lady has no clue & has no consideration for pets and their owners . DO NO RECOMMEND - very bad service before we even got in to the consultation room. RUDE !!! Read Less

I would never ever use this vet's, they put dogs to sleep rather than fix em. Not enough experience in dealing with worried owners or sick pets. Our 12 wk old new Bulldog puppy was wrongly diagnosed as poorly given antibiotics for a week he became worse, lifeless I returned to be told unsure so I'll open him up to see which I refused to allow as bulldogs should be under anesthetic unless by a specialised vet, I was rudely told to go else where then which we did - Thankfully as he was suffering from Pneumonia so severe now his trachea collapsed he had to stay in hospital that week unsure if he'd survive, cost 800 and they confirmed if he'd been opened up at Pet Vet he'd be dead. She hadn't a clue and shouldn't be allowed to practice. Ive heard so many stories of dogs dying after routine ops it's disgusting. We told her wot we thought of her mistake to our dog-if I could claim our money it cost us as she didnt pick up phenomena then I would. Not Recommend to Anyone. Read Less

I took my bearded dragon to see the vet at Thornhill as he was poorly and they were offering a free reptile health check including a parasite check. The parasite check came back as all clear. Jump ahead 5wks and still a poorly dragon who was getting more ill by the day and a trip to a vet who specializes in reptiles, they find not only did he have parasites but he had billions of them. If he had been treated for them in the first place my poor lil dragon would have made a speedy recovery and not had to have stayed in hospital and I would've saved an expensive 100 vet bill!!!! Why offer free parasite checks when they clearly don't do it properly!!! Read Less
