Fantastic, caring practice with reasonable prices. My border collie, Ben, always enjoys the fuss he gets from the Receptionists when he comes for treatment. The vets have always managed to sort out whatever problems he has, including referring him to a specialist clinic dealing with dermatology. The fact that you don't need an appointment and that they are open late makes for a very flexible business model to support those who work 9-5 and can't take time off work during the day to take their pets to the vet.

This will be very long review but you all need to know the full story why I will never use The Vet again or recommend to anyone! I took my poorly 1 year old bulldog as he wasn’t eating or drinking. When seen by the vet I was told he had something stuck in his intestines and they would need to operate, it was about 5pm and the vet said she may not be able to do the op due to them closing soon. She then went to speak to another vet and they decided they would do the op and we would have to return in a couple of hours for us to collect him and transfer to out of hours vet for him to be cared for over night. When I left my dog there I was told they would call me to let me know when the operation was done. It got to half 7 and I hadnt heard from the vets so I called them and confirm if all was ok and if I was to make my way in to collect him. I was told by the receptionist that he still had not been operated on and was due to go down any minute. They close at 8pm!! They were about to do a serious operation on a young bulldog, open him up and into his intestines knowing they close in half an hour!! My dog would have survived the night without them having to do the operation there and then he would of been able to go back in the morning. Anyway reception told us to make our way down anyway so we could take him to out of hours to be cared for once they had done the operation. We got there at 7:45 and were left in reception until about half 8 when the receptionist called down to Surgery to see what was going on, we were advised he was just being stitched up and should be out soon. It was gone 9 before we had our next update which was he was out of surgery. At around half 9 they told us he was awake but was in a lot of pain so they were just making him comfortable. It was around 10pm when they came out and told us that his blood isn’t clotting and is losing a lot of blood and was very weak but they have added some extra bandages and would bring him out to our car to be transported. On arrival at the out of hours within 10 minutes of us being there the vet knew he was not going to make it, he had lost too much blood and they couldn’t stop the internal bleeding. She couldn’t understand why we had ever been able to leave The Vets with him in such a bad way. I believe The Vets knew he wasn’t going to make it and know he may need further operation but as they had already worked longer than thay should of they let us go with him. My poor boy died within an hour of leaving The Vets. They should of never operated on him knowing they wouldn’t be able to continue should something like it did go wrong. Neither did they mention at any point when we left with him how serious condition he was in!! They never made any suggestion he wouldn’t make it through the night!! The staff made very wrong decisions that day and I will never go aback there due to this. On a positive note though The receptionist (Think her name was Julie) was very nice and is a credit to the business just wish the others would have had her customer service skills and been honest about the situation in which resulting in us losing our best friend.

We had heard good things about this practice which is why we decided to use them after getting our first puppy.
However, when my mother in law took her 13yr old lab here, it became abundantly clear that they are motivated by financial gain and give little thought to customer sensitivity. Now, yes, i understand we all have bills to be paid. But when they advertise for your business using the selling point that your pet is as important as any other member of your family, you would expect them to deliver a service that mirrors those sentiments.
Sadly my MIL had to put her lab to sleep but was told to go to reception and pay for the procedure there and then. She was then left to stand in front of a waiting room full of people, sobbing by herself, whilst the receptionist proceeded to ignore her, showing no signs of dealing with another customer, instead chatting to a colleague.
We then complained at their complete lack of compassion or sensitivity to what was understandably an upsetting time. Their reception manager assured us that this was not the norm and the receptionist would be dealt with appropriately. So we gave the benefit of the doubt.
However, they have since continued to take monthly direct debit payments for an insurance plan for her dog they put to sleep. This was despite my MIL indicating she wished to no longer keep the policy (for obvious reasons) when it came to the renewal of it. We have since tried calling to try and get the money refunded only to be told multiple times that their business manager is in a meeting and will call back, which to date he has failed to do so, despite us chasing this up multiple times. And also that their reception manager is now off sick.
My advice, they advertise as being much cheaper than most, in my experience this isn't the case (especially after a recent price hike in their prices) and for those that they do undercut, it's not by much. And if your pet is as important to you as ours is to us, the extra few pound would be well spent for the reassurance of knowing that they will be dealt with by people motivated as much (if not more) by animal care than pound signs alone.

The circumstances surrounding our frequent visits to The Vet Southampton were unfortunate for our cat Barney and our Kitten Maxwell. Karen and the reception staff have been more than supportive throughout our visits and were kind enough to send us a card with their sympathies when Max unfortunately passed away. I would recommend The Vet Southampton to anybody in the area - they are very accommodating and helped us through some very tough times. My greyhound Paddy went lame recently and it was a very tough time as it was not obvious how this had happened. The vet, Poppy, worked him up and when she needed some advice was quick to email colleagues and arrange for his x-ray to be reviewed. She kept me informed of their conversations and the treatment plan. Fortunately he has made a good recovery and as you can imagine I am very grateful to The Vet for this. Paddy was well cared for and the staff were very helpful. The only comment I would make that is negative would be that when he had to stay at the out of hours vet overnight there was not any indication of the potential cost (£460) as he was insured but this was a large chunk out of his cover, I would have preferred to know that was an expensive service to use. Overall I found them caring and they solved his problem, they are convenient to use with reasonable waits and parking is very good.

This is the best vet i have ever dealt with, all the staff members are absolutely delightful and incredibly kind as for their prices they are really amazing. They have operated on her on a sunday and with meds on top the total came to half what i had been quoted at the local vet. What i really love about them as well is that they all seem to really care about the animals and its not just a business about money. I recommend them to anybody who loves their pets. They are simply the best in the whole area and i will happily travel the 40-50 miles return any time. They are amazing and i am extremely grateful that i found them. Thank you to all the staff at the Bristol branch.

I took my cat in to this vets as an emergency on Sunday 20th nov, I got there at about 2:30pm. All of the staff were lovely. There was one person in particular who was just amazing! Not only did she deal with our situation in the most caring of ways towards my poor cat but she was so kind and sensitive towards my feelings too. Sadly my cat Nancy had to be put to sleep. It was a huge shock for myself and the vet dealing with us but I can't thank them enough for how they handled the situation. They kindly offered me a Private room to sit in and wait as I was so upset. The treatment (blood test, X-ray, pain relief and then putting Nancy to sleep) cost only a fraction of what my original vet would've charged which made the whole experience that tiny bit easier to deal with too. To top it all off, I received a hand written condolences card from them last week too. Absolutely fabulous vets who clearly love animals and have the most wonderful way with their customers. The prices are an added bonus. Thank you!!

Very very angry and disappointing vets. First thing they ask is he insured. If you say no then they look at you with on your head. Also if they mess up then you have to pay for it. I made it clear to the staff there that I can only afford so much money. They made it out that it was fine and the bill came to that amount then when you go to collect your dog there is more to pay 130 on top of what I have payed already but they messed up the bill I only agreed to the treatment as they said it was within my price range. Lies lies then on top of it when I have my kids with me that I can't take my dog because I can't afford to pay. Is right out of order. And they are not allowed to do this. They will not do payment plans so I could pay. . They would let a family suffer and become distressed because of how they talk to people and say they going to keep your animals to scare you into paying. they still don't know what's wrong with him as X-ray show same shape. Also this took all day to do. I will be taking all the paper work to a different vets to see if they had to do all this. Warning stay away if you really care for you animals as it's all about the money and not the animals. I will never go here again. Stay away!!!

So far our experience at the vet Southampton has been amazing. This is the third vet we have visited for our puppy (as we were not happy with the others) it takes a while to get there but we would not go anywhere else now. We visit in the evenings after work which is very handy and the three girls at reception are always so friendly and welcoming. They all genuinely seem to have an interest in animals. The vets and nurses we have met are great with our dog and answer our questions thoroughly. Waiting times are no more than 15 minutes and prices are the lowest we've come across. Highly recommend!

We've used The Vet several times now for our cat including while she was pregnant, our 6 month old kitten and our 3 month old kitten. The service has been great and waiting times are usually within the hour.. We also get text reminders when worming and flea drops are due which is a great help. I also think the free coffee vending machine in the waiting area is a nice touch. Got both the girls booked in for spaying in a couple of weeks and I know they'll both be fine and it wont cost a fortune!

Well took my cat down to the vet over the weekend ad she was not eating drinking etc they took blood which they said they had tested it for what i don't know they said it came back normal so it costed us over 100 quid takes her in as no change in my cat they put her on a drip for 24 hours saying to me that she is eating and drinking which has cost us over 100 quid again and as of tonight my cat is still not right so i will be taken her to another vet as the vet are not trying to work out what is wrong with my cat and willing to just take money from us so in all it would have been cheaper to take my cat to her normal vet at least it would have been sorted out in the first visit. they only get one star as it is clean.

We'd never been to this vet before however when our cat became poorly and his usual vet wasn't available we brought him here and it was the best decision we could have made. There was no fuss in getting him registered and all of the staff were so caring. We ended up visiting several times due to needing repeat tests etc and the bill was extremely reasonable considering the amount of consultations, treatment and tests he needed. Everything was explained to us clearly and our moggy is now on the mend! We can't thank you enough.

Anyone who has pets and always has expensive vet bills at their current vets, I highly recommend The vets in Hengrove! They're so professional and amazingly cheap compared to other vets! My dog cut open her paw pad really bad and clearly needed to go to the vets, the emergency vets last night wanted 145 upfront just for the vet to take a look at her!!! Ridiculous prices! Although I love my dog... I am not spending 145 for someone to tell me what I already know needs doing. So we waiting till morning and took her to our vets. They had a look at her and decided to glue the wound back together and hope it holds for it to heal (the pad is a really hard, long process to heal) so I need to go back on Wednesdays. But that only costing us 22 and that price also included treats because we spoil our pup! Highly recommend them, I would never go anywhere else! Besides, they give really jazzy protective sleeves. Thank you to all staff for your love and care toward animals. I have a very happy pup who loves your attention!

No appointment just walk in service is amazing and the price is fantastic!!!! All the staff genuinely care for the animals and are all lovely and make you feel welcome!
There is a different seating area for dogs and cats, it is so clean and tidy!! There is no other vet like this one in my opinion

Lovely and clean, staff were very helpful and friendly. The vet was nice and very professional, it was our new kittens first visit and she made him feel welcome and calmed him down. The cost of treatment compared to anywhere else in southampton is amazing. The kitten start plan was 60, a lot of other places I had researched were double or nearly double that cost.

Fantastic, caring practice with reasonable prices. My border collie, Ben, always enjoys the fuss he gets from the Receptionists when he comes for treatment. The vets have always managed to sort out whatever problems he has, including referring him to a specialist clinic dealing with dermatology. The fact that you don't need an appointment and that they are open late makes for a very flexible business model to support those who work 9-5 and can't take time off work during the day to take their pets to the vet.

This will be very long review but you all need to know the full story why I will never use The Vet again or recommend to anyone! I took my poorly 1 year old bulldog as he wasn’t eating or drinking. When seen by the vet I was told he had something stuck in his intestines and they would need to operate, it was about 5pm and the vet said she may not be able to do the op due to them closing soon. She then went to speak to another vet and they decided they would do the op and we would have to return in a couple of hours for us to collect him and transfer to out of hours vet for him to be cared for over night. When I left my dog there I was told they would call me to let me know when the operation was done. It got to half 7 and I hadnt heard from the vets so I called them and confirm if all was ok and if I was to make my way in to collect him. I was told by the receptionist that he still had not been operated on and was due to go down any minute. They close at 8pm!! They were about to do a serious operation on a young bulldog, open him up and into his intestines knowing they close in half an hour!! My dog would have survived the night without them having to do the operation there and then he would of been able to go back in the morning. Anyway reception told us to make our way down anyway so we could take him to out of hours to be cared for once they had done the operation. We got there at 7:45 and were left in reception until about half 8 when the receptionist called down to Surgery to see what was going on, we were advised he was just being stitched up and should be out soon. It was gone 9 before we had our next update which was he was out of surgery. At around half 9 they told us he was awake but was in a lot of pain so they were just making him comfortable. It was around 10pm when they came out and told us that his blood isn’t clotting and is losing a lot of blood and was very weak but they have added some extra bandages and would bring him out to our car to be transported. On arrival at the out of hours within 10 minutes of us being there the vet knew he was not going to make it, he had lost too much blood and they couldn’t stop the internal bleeding. She couldn’t understand why we had ever been able to leave The Vets with him in such a bad way. I believe The Vets knew he wasn’t going to make it and know he may need further operation but as they had already worked longer than thay should of they let us go with him. My poor boy died within an hour of leaving The Vets. They should of never operated on him knowing they wouldn’t be able to continue should something like it did go wrong. Neither did they mention at any point when we left with him how serious condition he was in!! They never made any suggestion he wouldn’t make it through the night!! The staff made very wrong decisions that day and I will never go aback there due to this. On a positive note though The receptionist (Think her name was Julie) was very nice and is a credit to the business just wish the others would have had her customer service skills and been honest about the situation in which resulting in us losing our best friend.

We had heard good things about this practice which is why we decided to use them after getting our first puppy.
However, when my mother in law took her 13yr old lab here, it became abundantly clear that they are motivated by financial gain and give little thought to customer sensitivity. Now, yes, i understand we all have bills to be paid. But when they advertise for your business using the selling point that your pet is as important as any other member of your family, you would expect them to deliver a service that mirrors those sentiments.
Sadly my MIL had to put her lab to sleep but was told to go to reception and pay for the procedure there and then. She was then left to stand in front of a waiting room full of people, sobbing by herself, whilst the receptionist proceeded to ignore her, showing no signs of dealing with another customer, instead chatting to a colleague.
We then complained at their complete lack of compassion or sensitivity to what was understandably an upsetting time. Their reception manager assured us that this was not the norm and the receptionist would be dealt with appropriately. So we gave the benefit of the doubt.
However, they have since continued to take monthly direct debit payments for an insurance plan for her dog they put to sleep. This was despite my MIL indicating she wished to no longer keep the policy (for obvious reasons) when it came to the renewal of it. We have since tried calling to try and get the money refunded only to be told multiple times that their business manager is in a meeting and will call back, which to date he has failed to do so, despite us chasing this up multiple times. And also that their reception manager is now off sick.
My advice, they advertise as being much cheaper than most, in my experience this isn't the case (especially after a recent price hike in their prices) and for those that they do undercut, it's not by much. And if your pet is as important to you as ours is to us, the extra few pound would be well spent for the reassurance of knowing that they will be dealt with by people motivated as much (if not more) by animal care than pound signs alone.

The circumstances surrounding our frequent visits to The Vet Southampton were unfortunate for our cat Barney and our Kitten Maxwell. Karen and the reception staff have been more than supportive throughout our visits and were kind enough to send us a card with their sympathies when Max unfortunately passed away. My greyhound Paddy went lame recently and it was a very tough time as it was not obvious how this had happened. The vet, Poppy, worked him up and when she needed some advice was quick to email colleagues and arrange for his x-ray to be reviewed. She kept me informed of their conversations and the treatment plan. Fortunately he has made a good recovery and as you can imagine I am very grateful to The Vet for this. Paddy was well cared for and the staff were very helpful. The only comment I would make that is negative would be that when he had to stay at the out of hours vet overnight there was not any indication of the potential cost (£460) as he was insured but this was a large chunk out of his cover, I would have preferred to know that was an expensive service to use. Overall I found them caring and they solved his problem, they are convenient to use with reasonable waits and parking is very good.

This is the best vet i have ever dealt with, all the staff members are absolutely delightful and incredibly kind as for their prices they are really amazing. They have operated on her on a sunday and with meds on top the total came to half what i had been quoted at the local vet. What i really love about them as well is that they all seem to really care about the animals and its not just a business about money. I recommend them to anybody who loves their pets. They are simply the best in the whole area and i will happily travel the 40-50 miles return any time. They are amazing and i am extremely grateful that i found them. Thank you to all the staff at the Bristol branch.

I took my cat in to this vets as an emergency on Sunday 20th nov, I got there at about 2:30pm. All of the staff were lovely. There was one person in particular who was just amazing! Not only did she deal with our situation in the most caring of ways towards my poor cat but she was so kind and sensitive towards my feelings too. Sadly my cat Nancy had to be put to sleep. It was a huge shock for myself and the vet dealing with us but I can't thank them enough for how they handled the situation. They kindly offered me a Private room to sit in and wait as I was so upset. The treatment (blood test, X-ray, pain relief and then putting Nancy to sleep) cost only a fraction of what my original vet would've charged which made the whole experience that tiny bit easier to deal with too. To top it all off, I received a hand written condolences card from them last week too. Absolutely fabulous vets who clearly love animals and have the most wonderful way with their customers. The prices are an added bonus. Thank you!!

Very very angry and disappointing vets. First thing they ask is he insured. If you say no then they look at you with on your head. Also if they mess up then you have to pay for it. I made it clear to the staff there that I can only afford so much money. They made it out that it was fine and the bill came to that amount then when you go to collect your dog there is more to pay 130 on top of what I have payed already but they messed up the bill I only agreed to the treatment as they said it was within my price range. Lies lies then on top of it when I have my kids with me that I can't take my dog because I can't afford to pay. Is right out of order. And they are not allowed to do this. They will not do payment plans so I could pay. . They would let a family suffer and become distressed because of how they talk to people and say they going to keep your animals to scare you into paying. they still don't know what's wrong with him as X-ray show same shape. Also this took all day to do. I will be taking all the paper work to a different vets to see if they had to do all this. Warning stay away if you really care for you animals as it's all about the money and not the animals. I will never go here again. Stay away!!!

So far our experience at the vet Southampton has been amazing. This is the third vet we have visited for our puppy (as we were not happy with the others) it takes a while to get there but we would not go anywhere else now. We visit in the evenings after work which is very handy and the three girls at reception are always so friendly and welcoming. They all genuinely seem to have an interest in animals. The vets and nurses we have met are great with our dog and answer our questions thoroughly. Waiting times are no more than 15 minutes and prices are the lowest we've come across. Highly recommend!

We've used The Vet several times now for our cat including while she was pregnant, our 6 month old kitten and our 3 month old kitten. The service has been great and waiting times are usually within the hour.. We also get text reminders when worming and flea drops are due which is a great help. I also think the free coffee vending machine in the waiting area is a nice touch. Got both the girls booked in for spaying in a couple of weeks and I know they'll both be fine and it wont cost a fortune!

Well took my cat down to the vet over the weekend ad she was not eating drinking etc they took blood which they said they had tested it for what i don't know they said it came back normal so it costed us over 100 quid takes her in as no change in my cat they put her on a drip for 24 hours saying to me that she is eating and drinking which has cost us over 100 quid again and as of tonight my cat is still not right so i will be taken her to another vet as the vet are not trying to work out what is wrong with my cat and willing to just take money from us so in all it would have been cheaper to take my cat to her normal vet at least it would have been sorted out in the first visit. they only get one star as it is clean.

We'd never been to this vet before however when our cat became poorly and his usual vet wasn't available we brought him here and it was the best decision we could have made. There was no fuss in getting him registered and all of the staff were so caring. We ended up visiting several times due to needing repeat tests etc and the bill was extremely reasonable considering the amount of consultations, treatment and tests he needed. Everything was explained to us clearly and our moggy is now on the mend! We can't thank you enough.

Anyone who has pets and always has expensive vet bills at their current vets, I highly recommend The vets in Hengrove! They're so professional and amazingly cheap compared to other vets! My dog cut open her paw pad really bad and clearly needed to go to the vets, the emergency vets last night wanted 145 upfront just for the vet to take a look at her!!! Ridiculous prices! Although I love my dog... I am not spending 145 for someone to tell me what I already know needs doing. So we waiting till morning and took her to our vets. They had a look at her and decided to glue the wound back together and hope it holds for it to heal (the pad is a really hard, long process to heal) so I need to go back on Wednesdays. But that only costing us 22 and that price also included treats because we spoil our pup! Highly recommend them, I would never go anywhere else! Besides, they give really jazzy protective sleeves. Thank you to all staff for your love and care toward animals. I have a very happy pup who loves your attention!

There is a different seating area for dogs and cats, it is so clean and tidy!! There is no other vet like this one in my opinion

Lovely and clean, staff were very helpful and friendly. The vet was nice and very professional, it was our new kittens first visit and she made him feel welcome and calmed him down. The cost of treatment compared to anywhere else in southampton is amazing. The kitten start plan was 60, a lot of other places I had researched were double or nearly double that cost.
