I would like to say a massive Thankyou to all the Team at the Equine Hospital. They provided an amazing professional but equally personal service, trying to save my Horse Bobbin’s life. Sadly, she lost her battle a week after arriving at the hospital. During that week, Bobbin was attended too hourly around the clock, I could visit morning, noon and nights & often do all three with a warm reception each time. I could bring her food from home, treats and sit with her. The staf...f kept her happy, comfortable, clean & kept her company when I had to go home. The vets & nurses talked me through every step and we discussed her welfare on every visit and regular daily phone calls between my visits. What touched me most was the effort spent looking after the attention to detail. On the day before Bobbin slipped away, the team had gone out and hand picked grass for the 3 Horses in isolation. There were bags outside each stable door. Also the feed would put in buckets & not mixed so they could see what the horses did and didn’t want to eat. One of the girls even bought a cheeky treat of some lovely Haylage to spoil my girl with. It’s all those special touches that helped me relax a tiny bit, knowing she was well looked after when I wasn’t there to love her. I got the call at 430am on Sunday morning from Lucy with the bad news but she was very supportive & again today when I went in to collect Bobbins belongings. An excellent vet's, they have been looking after me for over 14 year's, they always give my staff the best advice and me the best care. They also looked after my staff's previous dog's, I have been to their Thatcham, Tadley and of course Donnington practices over the year's are they all offer excellent care, because as you know us dog's only accept the best. Can't thank you all enough for your treatment of Flossie as the patient and me as the client. You all exceeded my expectations on every front, not just for the technical skills in surgery. It's lovely to have your horse treated with kindness and as an indivdual, rather than just another septic hock in box 4. And you get well in excess of 5 stars for your communication skills from the moment I arrived on the yard. There are far too few vet practices who a) phone every time exactly when they said they would, and b) treat clients as if they have a brain, and might actually like to hear some of the technicalities. So pleased with everything about your treatment of Flossie, I've been singing your praises to all her visitors! She's completed her in hand walking (I calculate 50 miles, no wonder I need a new pair of shoes, never mind her), and I sat on her for the first time today. On two separate occasions I have had to take my mare to Donnington for unrelated issues - the first time I was nervous as many would be, leaving my beautiful mare and not knowing the outcome. On the second visit, nearly a year later and facing a much more serious injury, I felt calmer than before and happy that no matter what, she would be receiving the best care possible. It is because of the fantastic vets and staff that my mare is still with me today and continues life as a ridden horse. They all went out of their way to make me feel welcome when I visited, usually after everybody else had left and gone home. And you would think that with hundreds of horses coming in and leaving again over the months that one more would be just another number. Not at this place - on arrival, despite there being nearly a year between our visits, two of the people on the yard recognised her and even remembered which stable she had been in. I know they may have seen her file prior to arrival but personal touches count. I am only sorry I didn't complete this review at the time and so it seems a little late. Thank you so much to the team. My horse has just completed his 3rd stint here with the Donnington Grove Team and every time everyone has been wonderful! 1st time we arrived at 1.30am and the team got to work on his wound straight away! Even at that hour in the morning they were very friendly and understanding! 2nd and 3rd were more recent and both times he was very well looked after with great communication. Absolutely fantastic service, I was called by Bruce the morning of my horses surgery who told me exactly what was going to be done, a wonderful job done which can hardly be seen now and she's well on the road to recovery. My ex racehorse was transported to Donington after disgusting unprofessional car of other idiotic wet in critical condition ....basically dying.Bruce and his team did operate immediately started at midnight and saved his live!!!! Latter due to very latte actin cost by stupid person who would kill Lolo the horse needed second surgery to maintain the gut Bruce and his team safe him again! Lolo is happy eating horse now.Without amazing Donington care we would have lost him.Thees people all team are real wets who will try they absolute best to help struggling animal whatever happens. Colic surgery are difficult and one of basics criteria for success is good clinic.Donington is best. Read Less
