General Info
The Bishops Veterinary Surgery was set up in 1991. We are based in Hatfield (Herts) close to the Galleria shopping centre and within walking distance of Hatfield town centre. The practice is RCVS approved and purpose designed to offer complete medical and surgical facilities with a convenient car park, where you can get an hours free parking on display of a valid ticket. We aim to offer a caring and professional service to you and your pets.
We specialise in companion animals (dogs, cats and rabbits) and also have substantial experience with exotics (such as parrots and reptiles). Staff members with special interests in dermatology (skin diseases) and exotics are available to provide advanced care in those fields.

I could not fault this practise. Everybody is so welcoming and every patient and owner is so well looked after. Stilton, our American Bulldog, can’t wait to go in when we park up. Yves and all the staff members explain everything in great detail and take the time to make sure you understand the implications and results of every procedure.
Having had dogs and horses all my life and going to various vets here and abroad, I must say, that this is without a doubt the best vet I have ever found.

Bishops vets have been literally a life line for not just my pets but also for me and now for my daughter and her dog as well. I choose them from yellow pages (no google then!!)18 years ago because, to me, their advert was the most caring and informative, and to this day that’s excactly how I would describe my visits to them. 18 years ago I took my 13-week-old puppy Bailey for his 1st health check, through the years he was kept in tip top condition with his regular visits. In January he made his last visit to the surgery where a candle was lit for him as he passed away. I was supported and reassured by every member of the team and I will always treasure those last moments I had with my boy. Now I am starting a new adventure with my rescue dog. Here’s to another 18 years! Than you Bishops xx

The head vet Yves is a skin specialist and was recommended to me by my local vet when I had a cat with an auto immune deficiency. I was desperate for a vet who had experience and didn’t just prescribe steroids as we found the youngsters just out of vet school were prone to do. I know that Yves gave my cat many more years of life.
I now have 2 rescue dogs. One who has had 2 major knee surgeries and the other who has major skin damage caused by neglect.
I have always been impressed by the kindness and caring of the staff and vets and have also used their physiotherapist, consequently I continue to travel from Barnet to Hatfield for my dogs even though there are vet practices closer to home.

Lovely vets. Been previously for emergency appointments when i haf to have my rabbit put to sleep but yesterday really stood out for me. I saw a lovely vet called Yves. It was lovely to see a vet who still had a passion for what he does and really care about the animals. We joined the healthy pet club too and will be saving a huge amount of money on my cats check ups, jabs, flea and worming! Really lovely friendly staff and always looking for the best and most affordable way to treat my animals. Recommend highly.

It was my first visit to Bishops Veterinary Surgery. I chose the Surgery because after some extensive research I discovered that the closest Vets to me that are trained in exotics is this surgery. I booked in to see Dr Yves Gisseleire and was the sweetest most knowledgable Vet that ive encountered in a long time. Although unfortunately my Canary Robbie had to be put to sleep due to a terminal Cancer Dr Gisseleire assured me that I had been a great owner and that I was making the decision. As you can imagine a sad time for any owner but I felt very comforted and calm ad I trusted in my decision. Thank you also the Veterinary Nurse Sarah for being so comforting and sweet. You guys are amazing. and thank you for me lovely card, it meant a lot.

We took our 2 bunnies here for castration after a fight that caused an unfortunate problem for one of them... Yves and the vetinerary nurses were not only brilliant but genuinely concerned for our little Snowy, luckily with their help and care he made a full recovery and jumps around with his brother like nothing happened. Would absolutely recommend this practice to anyone.

My cat came in for a dental operation and I just wanted to say thank you so much for looking after her. Amazing service and care for big girl. Sharon was recommended for her skills...well worth the drive around the M25, Katherine took the TIME to explain costs, options with us. Something our previous vet did not. Lastly, our girl loves getting her claws cut here! All the staff are animal people and it shows from the time you walk in the door. Highly recommended.

All the staff are so kind and caring, if treatment needs to be given they tell you why and in detail and give a guide to any and all costs involved. In all my years of dealing with them I am not aware that they do any unnecessary work. I have always found them to be honest and do the very best for your pet. Sadly, my cat Dodger who was 16 years old had a terminal illness and could not be saved so was put to sleep. They were so kind during all the visits and even sent a condolence card. Caring to the end and beyond, highly recommended.

We have been going to Bishops for over 10 years. We visit every 6-8 weeks with our chocolate Labrador Thomas. The staff are always super friendly and really approachable. They treat Thomas like one of their own! Our cats also enjoy lots of lovely attention when they have to go. I can't praise them enough, even when we had to have our cat put to sleep they were fantastic!! Highly recommend them.

The head vet Yves is a skin specialist and was recommended to me by my local vet when I had a cat with an auto immune deficiency. I was desperate for a vet who had experience and didn’t just prescribe steroids as we found the youngsters just out of vet school were prone to do. I just moved to the area and needed to find a vet for Esme. I checked out a few but I could not find anywhere that had that warm reassuring feeling when you walked through the door until I found Bishops. I decided immediately I would be enrolling Esme here. Thank you for caring xxx

It's been a year of ups and downs for us, loosing Ruby and Boozy but with the care and expert knowledge of Yve and his wonderful team at Bishops has made their passing easier. Yves knowledge of parrots is superb and we are lucky to have him and his team on our doorstep. And now with Mr Darcy joining us we look forward to many more happy years with the support of Bishops veterinary group. Thank you.

Amazing service and care for big girl. Sharon was recommended for her skills...well worth the drive around the M25, Katherine took the TIME to explain costs, options with us. Something our previous vet did not. Lastly, our girl loves getting her claws cut here! All the staff are animal people and it shows from the time you walk in the door. Highly recommended.

All the staff are so kind and caring, if treatment needs to be given they tell you why and in detail and give a guide to any and all costs involved. In all my years of dealing with them I am not aware that they do any unnecessary work. I have always found them to be honest and do the very best for your pet. Sadly, my cat Dodger who was 16 years old had a terminal illness and could not be saved so was put to sleep. They were so kind during all the visits and even sent a condolence card. Caring to the end and beyond, highly recommended.

We have been going to Bishops for over 10 years. We visit every 6-8 weeks with our chocolate Labrador Thomas. The staff are always super friendly and really approachable. They treat Thomas like one of their own! Our cats also enjoy lots of lovely attention when they have to go. I can't praise them enough, even when we had to have our cat put to sleep they were fantastic!! Highly recommend them.

Lovely vets to visit. The nurses are lovely and always have lots of cuddles for my dog. The vets Yves and Catherine always take such care and time with him too. This years visit was so pleasant!
