We have been using the Oaks since moving to Welwyn Garden City 10 years ago and having been recommended by other satisfied customers. In all that time I can't recommend this Surgery enough. They always put the animals first and are always professional and attentative. In all my experiences of going to this surgery I have been made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. The extreme kndness shown by Sorcha when we lost our beloved Golden Labrador Brad and the gentleness and confidence building shown by nurses, vets and receptionists of our two rescue dogs is second to none. Special thanks to Vet Dr Thea Gardner, Lauren and Sarah on reception. We now have two dogs who love going to the Oaks. There have been a number of negative reviews put on facebook. From my experience and the experience of many other satisfied clients those reviews couldn't be further from the truth.Read Less

I have been using the surgery first time last december, when I was new to the area, with my chihuahua Turbo, when he had mistaken eaten some fruit with a big nut in it, that was actually stuck in Turbo's intestine. I will never thank them enough for all the help and job that they have done, since it was the day before Christmas' Eve, After the operation at the intestine, Turbo has recovered well and quickly: in a week he was back running and jumping around. It was a big stress for me. since Turbo is like a son for me, so they have given excellent support in this difficult period. Having recently moved to the area we needed to find a new vet. Unbelievably awful experience here! Took my dog in with an eye ulcer, spent hundreds on their diagnosis to be told I had to take her to a specialist that cost over 300 just to walk through the door! The receptionist ( who is married to the lead vet) point blank refused to make an appointment for me to see the vet again to talk through alternatives. Repeatedly reinforced her 'expert' opinion that only a specialist could treat. Given this was actually the third eye ulcer my dog had had, I took her back to where we moved from (40 miles each way) so he could treat her. Thankfully eye ulcer treated and healed within a month with no need to see specialist at all. In 20 years of pet ownership I have never ever experienced the scenario I did here!!!! I would never recommend anyone take their animal here!!!! It wouldn't have been so bad except that I didn't want the opinion of the woman that answer the phone, I wanted the expertise of the vet and after the dogs first appointment I was no longer allowed to speak to them!!! Everything was don't with the receptionist!!!!Read Less

My dog, Piper, has been going to The Oak Vets since she was a few weeks old; she is now 11years old and I have nothing but praise for the staff. Piper has had many health problems since puppyhood, which were diagnosed and are still being treated by the staff at Potters Bar. Steve was her first vet and his knowledge of and care for her were nothing short of brilliant!
Piper knows all the staff there and everything that is done is with her wellbeing in mind. I would also like to mention the nursing staff, who are wonderful young women. They are caring, knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble for them. I must give a special mention to Kayleigh who is currently supporting me with Piper's health. She is a wonderful listener and has always got time to talk to me. She is making a very tough time easier to cope with.
Finally, I'd like to mention Sorcha and Dan, two vets who were also amazing with my dog. Sorcha is now at the Welwyn branch of the vets so I still see her. Together they are a remarkable bunch of people; knowledgeable, caring, kind, patient who put animals first.
Go to this vets; you'll get the absolute best for your animals! Read Less

THEY SAVED OUR PUPPY'S LIFE !
On our first visit to get our puppy vaccinated, he had a severe reaction & went into a anaphlyaxis shock. Hayley was amazing & extremely professional. It all happened very quickly & with seconds she had called for a colleague to come & support. Within minutes they had the head vets Steve on the phone to me explaining everything that was going on. Even better they have a video link so Steve was able to watch, even though he was based in there Herford practice. Hayley did everything to make our pup feel comfortable & get him medically stable. Once she had done this Steve & another colleague made there way down from the Hertford practice. During this time i had my 10 year old daughter with me & as any parent would know this could have been very traumatic time. Hayley & Steve did everything to reassure both of us & during this time making sure our pup had the best chance of fighting his way through this. The out come could have been very different, but thanks to them they saved his life !
