Village Vet St Albans is open 24 hours a day. We are open around the clock to provide care for your pets whenever they need it. We are also delighted to announce that the Royal College of Veterinary surgeons has awarded Village Vet St Albans ‘Hospital and Emergency Centre’ status under it’s nationwide Practice Standards Scheme. This is the highest level awarded by the College demonstrating the care and facilities provided meet their stringent requirements. The hospital is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week*. This enables the team to provide emergency care 24/7 as well as ensuring our inpatients receive the care and supervision they require.
Village Vet St Albans is a well established, purpose built small animal hospital. We take pride in our excellent reputation for friendliness and a high level of expertise. Our facilities are modern and well equipped with full digital diagnostic facilities, on site laboratory, full operating theatres, separate dog and cat hospital wards and ample parking on site. We have a very experienced and empathetic team of vets, nurses and support staff, some with extra qualifications, to ensure that your pet gets the best care available. Our ethos is to make you feel you have left your pet in very capable hands and in a practice that we are very proud to be part of.

I've been coming here for many year now and each visit is respectful, amazing and dealt with in such a compassionate way. I cannot recommend this Vetenary practice/hospital enough. The staff are very caring in every aspect of the position they hold. It was a heat breaking time for me today and their loyalty and care to your own animals is second to none. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.

The village vet booked us in without a problem for the same day, and it wasn't a problem when the heavy snow fell and we had to rebook last minute! The vet we had was gentle , friendly and patient towards our bouncy border collie and a diagnosis was expeditiously received and my dog is currently recovering from his infection. The practice was clean from what I could see, with friendly front of house staff and a calm, spacey waiting room.
They allowed us to leave through the back door as there was a reactive dog in the waiting room which was likely to set off our dog, so they're very accomodating!

Our Tibetan Terrier, Charlie, has inflammatory bowel disorder and more recently pancreatitis. He has visited Jennifer Donaldson and the team on several occasions. He has needed hospital care for several days on occasion and has ALWAYS been treated so well.
He knows all the team really well, due to his frequent visits! He loves the team and they make such a fuss of him and really take good care of him.
They are very experienced and thorough and I have every faith in their expertise. Very happy with the treatment received.

Village vets have been excellent during emergency night care, prolonged stay, routine care and even death of our beloved cats. Appointments are swiftly available and reception staff very warm and welcoming. It is sometimes difficult seeing a different vet each time but I have found no break or mismatch in the excellent care which means handover are done well. Even when abroad on holiday I was kept informed about the progress of care and any results. A lovely efficient clinic were our cats are well looked after.... Thank you

We have used Village Vet St Albans for a number of years and have received excellent service for our cats. 3 years our beloved Sox was diagnosed with diabetes and severe kidney problems, survive. We thought she would not survive. Fortunately , she is still with us at the grand age of 18 3/4 and living an active life for a cat of her age. This was due to the wonderful service and advice that we were given by Village Vet. Nothing is ever too much trouble. All the vets and veterinary assistants are wonderful. I would however like to highlight Jude as she has been the vet who we have dealt with the most. She really is an exceptional vet and goes the extra mile to help us every time we see her. We would highly recommend this practice.

It is amazing to have access to 24 hours vet facilities. The vets here are animal lovers and are also very good people's listeners. They are definitely trustworthy and are ready to go the extra mile to help pets. I recently had to manage a challenging situation with my cat having seizures and the vets helped me make the right decisions at the right time. I would definitely recommend Village Vet St Albans!

Great from a veterinary perspective but the administration procedures surrounding insurance claims leaves a lot to be desired. Village Vet submitted an incorrect invoice to my Insurers and I have been trying for the last 6 weeks to get it rectified with no signs of success yet :-(

Special thanks go to Elliot and his team for giving us another few months with our dear little dog Jessie. who lost her battle with heart failure.

We've used Village Vets Caytons for many years for our cats and most recently our new puppy. I have always found the staff to have the highest standards of professionalism and knowledge. They have been very kind and helpful at all times to us. We will continue using them as we believe them to be the best vets in the area and would unhesitatingly recommend them to any animal family.

We started taking our cat to the Village Vet Cayton after we became unhappy about the attitude of staff at our previous, more local practice. That decision was immediately justified by the wonderfully kind, caring and friendly staff, all of whom seem to like people and each other just as much as the animals. Particular comment needs to be made about Elliot, Jackie and Hanna, who looked after our beloved pet through eye surgery, and we're kind and compassionate throughout. Elliot even went out of his way to be able to see us out of hours at not extra cost, just so he could be the one to do the consultation.

As a dog owner who's pet is actually registered with the Village Vet practice I have to say my pet and I receive the greatest care and attention. I'm sorry someone who doesn't understand the difference between a Vet's practice and an animal charity posted such a long and unecessarily negative review - I can just say our experience has been very very good and I am very grateful for the care given. And reception were very nice, as always.

A such massive Thank you to Professor P G C BEDFORD who did eye check for my border collie, I traveled a good 33 miles, as the Vet near us was not able to do this eye check and scared my dog so badly...
A such massive Thank you to Professor P G C BEDFORD who did eye check for my border collie, I traveled a good 33 miles, as the Vet near us was not able to do this eye check and scared my dog so badly.
When I did ring them up for appointment and explained the situation, the receptionist was brilliant, understood the situation and assured me that everything will be fine.

The village vet booked us in without a problem for the same day, and it wasn't a problem when the heavy snow fell and we had to rebook last minute! Our Tibetan Terrier, Charlie, has inflammatory bowel disorder and more recently pancreatitis. He has visited Jennifer Donaldson and the team on several occasions. He has needed hospital care for several days on occasion and has ALWAYS been treated so well.
He knows all the team really well, due to his frequent visits! He loves the team and they make such a fuss of him and really take good care of him.
They are very experienced and thorough and I have every faith in their expertise. Very happy with the treatment received.

Appointments are swiftly available and reception staff very warm and welcoming. We have used Village Vet St Albans for a number of years and have received excellent service for our cats. 3 years our beloved Sox was diagnosed with diabetes and severe kidney problems, survive. We thought she would not survive. Fortunately , she is still with us at the grand age of 18 3/4 and living an active life for a cat of her age. Great from a veterinary perspective but the administration procedures surrounding insurance claims leaves a lot to be desired. Village Vet submitted an incorrect invoice to my Insurers and I have been trying for the last 6 weeks to get it rectified with no signs of success yet :-(

As a dog owner who's pet is actually registered with the Village Vet practice I have to say my pet and I receive the greatest care and attention. I'm sorry someone who doesn't understand the difference between a Vet's practice and an animal charity posted such a long and unecessarily negative review - I can just say our experience has been very very good and I am very grateful for the care given. And reception were very nice, as always.
