General Info
We promise to do all we can to provide your pet with the best possible care and to make sure that you always receive friendly advice and support. We're so committed to this, we've put our Client and Patient Charter Pledges on the wall of our clinics.
Did you know, Medivet is actually a big community of vets, nurses and other professionals, giving you access to a great wealth of facilities and expertise? We're so committed to continuity of care across all our branches that we've made sure that the notes we have on all animals is available at all of our branches, all the time, via our high-tech, specially developed computer systems.
We promise that there will always be a veterinary surgeon available to look after your animal, day or night. We even have special 24-hour clinics in some areas, where vets and nurses are on duty all day and all night, every day of the year. These are our 24hr Continuous Care and Emergency Centres.
We volunteer to have all our clinics regulated by our governing body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Their Practice Standards Scheme ensures a consistently high standard of care, equipment and facilities for all our patients. Look out for the certificate awarded to your local practice, proudly on display!
We're really looking forward to getting to know your whole family, including the human members, and to doing all we can to make your pets' lives long and healthy. If you have any questions about Medivet’s services, standards or facilities please feel free to call us at any one of our clinics.

We have been going to this vet for over 8 years and have received relatively good service however the last 3 years we have come across some bad service which has led my dog fearing the vets and feeling incredibly stressed when he is in the room. I have been told the last few times I visited the vet- they were staff members who didn't have much experience and were covering people's shift. They didn't seem gentle or caring at all. The vet hardly interacted or stroked my dog first to make him feel comfortable before trying to inject him with booster jab and sticking a thermometer up his bottom . Dogs need to trust you first- especially explaining to the vet that he has had bad experiences before and doesn't enjoy going to the vets anymore. My last visit, has been unsuccessful! I have been with medivet risedale for in excess of 10 years. I cannot rate them high enough for being friendly or caring. Their extremely helpful and they go that extra mile on many occasions. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and sadly I had to say goodbye to her in 2015. To her the vets was her second home and she loved going there. The whole process of saying goodbye was extremely hard but to their credit all the staff were brilliant in what was a very sad day and I know that they care so passionately about all the animals that cross their threshold. I now have another dog who I rescued and was nervous but after a couple of visits she now loves going there too. I consider myself very lucky to have such a wonderful team looking after my babies because that's exactly what they are and I am never worried about leaving them there because I know they will always look after them as if they were their own. So Risedale. Kyumi Nicola Steph Sarah Rachael you are all awesome and do a brilliant job. I know you will always keep up the good work. Thankyou.Read Less

Three cats, aging from 16 to 3. One has an impressive pedigree, two are girls, two are grey, two are laid-back, two love Dreamies, one needs regular claw-clipping, one is over 6kg, one has Colitis, one has had a Thyroidectomy, one has been spayed... twice (before we owned her). They all have one thing in common; they get amazing care and attention from MediVet-Ark Aid, Poole. The staff are wonderful, warm, kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and make one feel that one is the only client that matters. They truly go above and beyond to look after our beloved animals. Our dog had diarrhoea for a few days so contacted them to see a vet went along today (Sunday)at 11:15 and was given confusing and worrying info from the get go.. Firstly we were told our dog had gastroenteritis and we could take her home with medication then vet changed her mind and said she would not be happy for us to take the dog home and quoted us 2200 to have her hospitalised for couple of days and to do X-rays and scans. I paid the insurance excess of 100 plus our daughter paid a further 300 on her card then following a call later in the day I was told our dog had what looked like a piece of metal in her intestines and they wanted to operate immediately she promptly informed me that this would then increase the quote by a further 1500 unfortunately I am disabled and do not work so this amount of money is pie in the sky for me, our dogs insurance only covers up to 1500 so I ended up contacting the RWA to ask for help as we had got our pup from them they told me they will contact their vet and if an operation is required it would not be as much as this. We then went back to medivet and spoke with the vet again and explained what we had decided and asked to see the X-rays we were then shown 3 scans of our dogs stomach and intestines area which showed a very small foreign body inside but after all this the vet told us that we could take the dog home and she should hopefully pass the foreign body? So why the hell did they want to operate?? Then the vet took us to one side and told us they had only done a 'quick scan' not the full scan or X-ray that they wanted over 600 for and this cost was now only 73.00 after all the stress and worry of the day we ended up having to collect our dog at 23:30 hrs they then wanted a further 800 bringing the total for a days doggy diarrhoea up to 1200 I am very disappointed with this vets I have been a long term customer of our local Hemel branch but it really does seem they are more interested in your money than your pet. My dog Molly had treatment in the Carpenders park branch for a lump on her eye, she had it removed all seemed good regarding payment from the insurance then I was asked for 54.74 extra, why I asked when I was covered and had paid my excess of 80, it seemed they went for a very expensive HISTOLOGY test rather than the 62.98, rather than asking me if this was alright they tried to get it of my insurers, and they said they will not cover it, as it was unnecessary. I then had a nasty letter from Medivet saying this can't continue, and payment had to be made !!!!!!!! , I had never received a letter from then about any money, so I rang the branch at Carpenders Park and asked what was going on, the receptionist took the message and said she will look into it, nothing happened, so a week later went it there and asked what was happening, she took a message and said she will get back to me, again nothing, then Anna was on holiday so another message was left, why should I pay extra money for something that was NOT neccary and no one at this branch knew why it was charged, was unhappy and think I will be taking my 2 dogs elsewhere for treatment as I feel the trust has gone which is a shame as I have been going there for 6 years Not happy at all, I know you have to make money but reallyRead Less

Came in on an emergency appointment with my dog who was having an allergic reaction. The vet was telling me off for not cleaning his ears (an unfortunate and unavoidable symptom of him having an allergic reaction) she also said he needs entropian surgery (his face was swollen from the reaction so this is irrelevant and unnecessary advice - my normal vet confirmed that his eyes are fine). They have then failed to submit my claim form, I had to chase for it to be emailed. They then did it as a new claim, despite me explaining he has an open, ongoing claim for his allergies and my own vet had confirmed after reviewing the notes that it was related to his allergies. I have been backwards and forwards with them, they take weeks to respond to my queries and I am about 110 out of pocket. As of today, my insurance company has confirmed that the vets still have not contacted them since 3rd November, despite saying they would, to advise they have made an error. Absolutely disgusted. Vet was knowledgable...of all the products she was trying to sell us! A very stressful experience. The cat waiting area had a huge dog in it which massively stressed our cat. There was plenty of space in the dog area for the dog to be in. I phoned ahead to say that we might be a few minutes late to which I was informed this wasn't acceptable as they 'have to run to schedule'. In the end we arrived early and then had to wait nearly half an hour after our appointment time before we were seen. Half an hour of our cat having no choice but to be near dogs. Once in with the Vet, she seemed to know plenty and reassured us about that our cat was healthy. Then the sales pitch began. All we wanted was to have her claws trimmed and a general check up. However, we had to endure a 20 minute sales pitch. After all of this, the additional stress of waiting for so long, the vet was unable to clip her claws. Most of the stress caused by this poorly set up vets practice. We now have a very stressed cat at home who has three trimmed nails.... Very Very poor. Read Less

Thinking of using medivet ? do some research into pricing and practices first. We first used them out of hours to see our dog which was not at its best post having an argument with another in the park. We were told to come round straight away late at night with no mention of the massively inflated price which apparently is on their website for out of hours. If its on there I cant find it, still the case. 15 minutes of vets time and some pain killers worked out at over 115. There is obviously no price on your pets health and Medivet know this however I fail to see why this service would be valued at more than I pay my solicitor short of exploitation of circumstance and your loyalty to your pet. Next we had the issue of our details being shared with an external company "pet plan" on the premise of a months free per insurance on another visit. This was not offered as an optional thing nor was it disclosed that they would start aggressively marketing us on completion of the "free" month. Medivet denies they relayed our details however "pet plan" has provided written confirmation it was them. I then had to write to pet plan to cease the absolute nuisance they were causing in sending letters, texts and phone calls. Of note pet plan also confirm they pay medivet a commission on each customer who signs up.... All in Medivet is completely impersonal service and everything is geared at revenue generation from second they have your details. Not a company I can trust with my personal details never mind my furry friends health. Read Less

I would have no hesitation in recommending them to another pet owner. Read Less

Read Less

I would like to say a massive thank you to the night team at Medivet Watford on 02.06.14 at roughly 02:00am. Both members of staff were extreamly helpfull at such a difficult time of having my pet bearded dragon to sleep. They were able to help me out on the phone before I came in and were very kind and welcoming when I came in to the surgery. The surgery was very clean, tidy and professional. I can not explain how gratefull I am for the services provided. I usually go to my local medivet in Kenton which is also an excellent surgery. I have always got great service at medivet. Read Less
