I've read some absolutely horrible reviews about Pet Doctors but I am very happy with the treatment they have given to my guinea pig, Poppy who struggles with bladder stones. So far, I have seen Kerry, Fang and Dimitri and all of them have been fantastic - especially Fang, who went out if his way to thoroughly research bladder stones and give me such detailed advice about prevention. They are very reliable - getting me in on the same day that I phone and are very thorough when I bring Poppy into the surgery. They also dispensed emergency medication for her out of hours. Prices are on the higher end compared to other vet practices but other than that I cannot fault them at Pet Doctors Newport. Thank you and can I please remind others to be courteous to vets, nurses, receptionists etc - they have a very hard job and they are trying their best to help our beloved pets. If you do have a problem please think about how you are wording things. Vets are human as well and they do not deserve abuse from anyone. It's unfair and unjust.

Worst, uncaring Vets I have ever dealt with. Left our cat suffering for two years due to misdiagnosing nasal cancer as gum infection. When eventually diagnosed only palliative care was available. Turned up for appt to be told we did not have an appt despite paying out for a taxi.
My son made an appt for Steroid Injection, Vets entrapped my son by inviting him in pretending to give his cat Pepsi an injection; once inside Head Vet Kerry refused to treat Pepsi and said she was going to PTS Pepsi. The Vets would not even let us take Pepsi home to say Goodbye. I rang up to find out what was going on and they refused to talk with me. We have had lies after lies from Head Vet Kerry McNie and despite our cat Pepsi's medical records proving the lies, they don't want to know. Kerry abused my son verbally and was very rude.
The Vets called the Police just because I asked for someone to ring me back, they then lied I was aggressive to them. Kerry lied to the Police about giving my son two weeks notice, when my son did not even attend the Vets two weeks prior.
They killed our cat without us being able to say Goodbye and now have stolen Pepsi's pet carrier and are ignoring all requests for it to be returned.
I really wish we had never gone to this Vets; my son took Pepsi to the vets for a steroid injection and Pepsi came home as ashes.

We had to seek emergency treatment for our dog, Izzy, whilst on holiday and could not be more grateful for the consistently excellent care she received. The support we received at this very difficult time, especially from Nic and Luke, but all who we dealt with, was fantastic. Melanie the cardiologist was very calm, thorough and professional. I would recommend this vets to anybody.

Our cat had a blockage in the urine duct. Pet Doctors of Newport were fantastic in that Maria the vet did surgery on our cat late at night and now our cat has made a full recovery. We are so happy. I would like to add that all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic service. Very thorough and helpful, sometimes a communication barrier, however never affects treatment. Definitely recommended.

Saw rebecca, the most comprehensive examination my dog has ever had. She was calm, knowledgeable and compassionate. The receptionist here are very friendly also.

Use to be a good vets but over the years has gone down hill. Reception staff are very poor. Takes forever to check in and even pay your bill. Disappointing.

Needed to obtain my pets' veterinary histories for the insurance company here in Australia. Even though the cats and I left the UK in 2011 Pet Doctors were able to locate the records and they were emailed to me within 10 minutes of my phone call. Thank you very much.

Awful.... lost our dogs blood test and fobbed us off for over a week, only after we called repeatedly did they admit they lost the sample. Our dog was quite ill and treatment delayed by two weeks because of this. No apology or refund and they wanted us to return our dog for another 5 hours or so at the surgery! Very upset that we had to put our dog through stress for nothing. We have never gone back.

I am now really upset by the appalling service at this vet's.
Have been a pet owner for many, many years and this is the first vet I have been unhappy with.
They keep insisting on tests for my aged cat - blood, urine, blood pressure. So I keep reluctantly putting her through the stress of going there. They seem to treat her ok, but you try getting any results. They are hard to contact by phone and then tell me that the vet I saw in Newport is based at Lake or Ryde so I have to contact them. So more phone calls, lots of lame excuses. Waiting around vet days off, being given times I will be called that turn out to be 'double booked'. So my poor cat and I have already been through trauma of probably unnecessary visits and tests and then I have to spend hours / days waiting for calls. Today is the last straw. I have now had to totally change a whole day's important plans to be able to wait by the phone at home. In pieces and have lost all faith in this vet.surgery.
Wonder if they will read this and contact me? Doubt it. They get a monthly payment from me anyway. Why should they care?

After my fist visit with my dog bailey vet stood there just looking at him she gave him some pink medican we go him home gave it to him he was sick everywhere a week Later he when back very sick vet said his ears need cleaning and antibiotics a week Later bailey very sick took him back vet Look over bailey in his mouth he had tumor sadly we lost our best friend bailey was a boxer 9 years old very bad vets.
Also asking how i would like to dispose of my dog with bailey at my feet and asking for money was really the last thing i needed.

This vet surgery is brilliant. We needed an emergency appointment and rang two other vets on the island who were rude and unhelpful and then fortunately called Pet Doctors who were immediately helpful and took our enquiries seriously. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and extremely competent. The vet spent time explaining everything, treated the dog and encouraged us to return if his condition didn't improve. The whole experience was very efficient without being rushed at all. Plus the building is spotlessly clean and has lots of parking. I really can't fault the service we got. I just wish we were locals!

I've read some absolutely horrible reviews about Pet Doctors but I am very happy with the treatment they have given to my guinea pig, Poppy who struggles with bladder stones. So far, I have seen Kerry, Fang and Dimitri and all of them have been fantastic - especially Fang, who went out if his way to thoroughly research bladder stones and give me such detailed advice about prevention. We had to seek emergency treatment for our dog, Izzy, whilst on holiday and could not be more grateful for the consistently excellent care she received. Our cat had a blockage in the urine duct. Pet Doctors of Newport were fantastic in that Maria the vet did surgery on our cat late at night and now our cat has made a full recovery. We are so happy. I would like to add that all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Awful.... lost our dogs blood test and fobbed us off for over a week, only after we called repeatedly did they admit they lost the sample. Our dog was quite ill and treatment delayed by two weeks because of this. No apology or refund and they wanted us to return our dog for another 5 hours or so at the surgery! Very upset that we had to put our dog through stress for nothing. We have never gone back.

They keep insisting on tests for my aged cat - blood, urine, blood pressure. So I keep reluctantly putting her through the stress of going there. We needed an emergency appointment and rang two other vets on the island who were rude and unhelpful and then fortunately called Pet Doctors who were immediately helpful and took our enquiries seriously.
