I went here on a Sunday in an emergency with a rabbit. Reception staff were lovely and very caring however the vet I saw had a very strong accent and the consulting room had an air con unit so loud I could hardly hear her above it. I also had a child with me who suffers sensory processing difficulties, the air con noise did not help her either. Having looked at the rabbit and decided on medication the vet left the room for a good 15 mins leaving me and the child waiting with the the rabbit. Eventually she came back, and showed me how to use the medicines then we had to go to reception to pay before we.were allowed the drugs... which then took another 15 mins for the receptionist to find. Went back a few days later as rabbits health had declined and had to opt for PTS. Differnt vet, but took the rabbit and was gone again for about 30 mins before he returned with her. Not my first choice of vets, will do my best to avoid them in future. Read Less

The worst experience ever, I took my rabbit to get it neutered, everything was fine they did half a health check on the rabbit and I signed permission for the rabbit to be neutered. The way the veterinary nurse handled my rabbit when taking him away was definitely not suitable by laying him across her stomach with one hand underneath him, not supporting his bum, legs or anything which allowed his legs to hang and he was quite an aggressive and figitable rabbit. This will support my evidence later on. When I arrived to pick up my rabbit everything seemed fine and I drove all the way home with the rabbit in the carry case, at this time he was still in one position all the way home as he seemed quite drugged up still from the operation. I got home took him out the carry case and went to check his area where he had his operation. While I was looking I noticed one of his toes on his back left leg was crooked and looked broken I felt the toe and could feel that the bone was purtruding out of the back of the toe. I called the vets straight away and they asked me to come back. When I went into the consultation room, the woman was very defensive saying that it wasn’t them and that it must of happened on the way home in the carry case but I knew he didn’t get it caught because he wasn’t moving about in the carry case because I was keeping an eye on him and if he did that damage during the journey he sure would of screamed because that’s what rabbit do when they’re in pain but I could sense it hurt him as at home he would hoop across the floor and he would stop to lick at it. Anyway the vets weren’t going to admit liability even saying that they don’t feel pain and that the vets even confessed to not giving my rabbit a full health check when giving him back to me which they should do before giving a clients animal back. I was indeed very angry and they were very rude when dealing with the situation they gave me liquid painkiller for the rabbit even though “they don’t feel pain” but I remember how that vet held my rabbit it could of possibly happened there and his nail got caught in her top? Or he flipped out when waking up from recovery but they wouldn’t know because they don’t carry out procedures properly and can’t do a proper health check whereas I know because I study Level 3 animal management and am highly knowledgeable as I study vet nursing and how to do a proper health check. Anyway, as soon as I got home I called my local vets to book an appointment to check on his foot and they were very sympathetic about the whole situation and I was seen straight away. The head vet of my local vets looked at my rabbits foot and said if he didn’t get any antiseptic treatment for the open wound it would of got infected and could of possibly had his leg amputated which would of cost an arm and a leg for what PETS AT HOME VETS (ASHFORD) did to my poor defensive rabbit. The vets gave some antiseptic cream and it healed great but this havoc all started because I took my rabbit to be neutered and came out with a botched job and a broken toe. After this I called pets at home and spoke to the manager which then told me to call the person who was responsible for that vets company which I did and had a phone call conversation which then ended up with a apology letter and a £20 voucher in the post?! Oh wow Thankyou... Anyway when buying a rabbit from pets at home don’t take their “free spay or neutered voucher” as those vets will probably not have a care like they did for my rabbit as it wasn’t a paid job and I wish I took my rabbit somewhere else to prevent this happeneing again!
