What a disappointment.
This veterinary surgery came recommended to us through family. It is difficult to even provide a one star. We requested a full blood test with levels to be done on our twenty-week-old puppy to check his immunity against DHP. These results should have been sent off and taken 7-14 days to come back, we received them in less that 6 hours. The results of this were sent to us via email informing negative response to DHP. When requesting the blood test documentation, it was clear the wrong blood test had been completed. We asked them about this and was told it was the correct test. After many emails we was then offered another blood test that would cost more money which was the original test requested.
We choose to reach out to other veterinary surgeries within the area for advice. Following the information gathered from them it was clear they had miss sold us the wrong test. They also stated that taking puppy back again so soon as suggested by Thanet Vets for another test was not an appropriate solution given his age. We choose to no longer contact Thanet Vets as the unhelpful responses were leading nowhere.
We received a call some days later from the Thanet Vets manager who did not call to discuss but instead inform. There was no understanding or apology but instead attempted to tell us that we asked for the incorrect blood test. We explained this was not the case and what had been asked for was correct as confirmed by other surgeries in the area. The phone call was unneeded, rude and not helpful. There was no call to apologise for the situation but instead point blame.
As a result, we have sadly had to deregister our puppy from here to another surgery that have been very helpful and understanding. Would not recommend Thanet Vets going forward to others as the overall service is appalling.

Just moved here from companion care. They have a separate waiting area for cats, with up high stands for the cat basket to reduce stress, which really helps. Groomers are great too for cats.

My cat belle has always been with Thanet vets from a kitten. I moved to Dover 2 years ago, so travelling to Thanet vets takes nearly an hour but I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Lovely staff and everyone is so caring and considerate. Plus they have just changed their waiting area layout and I must say I love it!

Very warm and welcoming, the receptionists are very helpful and friendly, over the years my dogs have seen most or all of the vets at the practice and have found them very professional and have always tried to make my dogs feel at ease, I won't forget the veterinarian nurses who are always there to offer advice. I wouldn't take my two girls anywhere else 5* service and always a smile.

I feel sorry to write something different from all those 5 star impressions. Thanet Animal Hospital killed our dog! Betsy swallowed a bone on Tuesday night (bull mastiff gobbling her food instead of chewing), I took her to Thanet Animal Hospital in Margate the following morning telling them about the bone. They gave her some tablets and discharged her from the hospital. We came back the next day - they put her on a drip for the whole day and discharged her at the end with a happy smile: "She feels much better now!" On Friday when we came again they finally made an x-ray and said: "Oh, she's got a bone stuck in her esophagus!" We'll try to use a water jet (or something) to move it to the stomach and if it doesn't work we have to put her down". A three years old healthy bull mastiff!!!!!
We grabbed the dog. We took her to the vets for pets in Maidstone (the vet which looks after all Large Breed Dog Rescue Centre dogs where we adopted Betsy). She (bless her!) managed to get through 6 (six!!!!) hours operation and died on the second hour after it.
The Thanet Hospital dug their heels saying that they would follow the same procedure if it happened again: mind as well that they charged us 1500 for three days of useless manipulations - tablets, drip, x-ray on the third day with jet through esophagus .
If I could give them zero star instead of 1, I would. Good luck to all who have trust in them. I warned you.

My family have used Thanet Hospital for many years. I have now used them since 2008 for my 3 cats. Front of house care is kind, thoughtful and friendly. The medical attention that my cats have received over the years has been personal and very touching. Noone likes their animal being ill but having to leave any of my cats in their care has been with ease as I know they will always be looked after with a personal professional touch.
I would highly recommend Thanet Animal Hospital to anybody.

Best vets I've been to! Taken my ratties to two other vets and both I left feeling a little uneasy and unsure about what to do with them. When I took them to Thanet animal hospital I finally felt a little relieved and happy!!! Gideon had her op today and the staff were lovely! Really cared for her and us as pet parents. Added bonus they were really quick and easy to book both an appointment and the operation with! And also cheapest out of all 3 vets I've been to! thank you

We have been with Thanet Animal Hospital for almost 12 years, the care they have given our animals past and present has always been of the highest standard. Medically they have given our animals longer, happier lives, managing health problem always with our Pets health and quality of life foremost and keep us going as well in the difficult times. Nothing has every been too much trouble.
Everyone from the Vets, Jill Mathews has been brilliant throughout the years, the nurses look after our animals with a care that is only second to what we given them, staying with then giving a cuddle or whatever they need.
The Receptionist are great, they take all our silly questions in their stride, they feel more like friends.
We use the groomers for one of our dogs and the Ladies their are lovely, our little dog who is frightened of being away from us, she is a rescue dog, she goes in wagging her tail, greets everyone as old friends, she comes home looks beautiful.
We would highly recommend to anyone.

Jill Matthews and the team looked after our dog, Mutley, with the utmost expertise and compassion.
Mutley was quite a regular visitor having sustained injuries from a cliff top fall, but was repaired and subsequently enjoyed many healthy years.
When his health broke down, Jill took a great deal of care and patience to ensure Mutley wouldn't become distressed or suffer in the last stages of his life. Her empathy made a huge difference to me.
Thanks Jill and the team. Definitely recommended..

Did not appreciate my evening phone call from an irrate receptionist. After shelling out a lot of money on an appointment and injection for our cat she seemed annoyed that we had missed our reminder to pick up the prescription (and shelling out best part of a 100. .again) for some meds and new food. No understanding or suggestion for a payment plan offered when explained financial circumstances. Not a great start to our evening.

What a disappointment.
This veterinary surgery came recommended to us through family. It is difficult to even provide a one star. We requested a full blood test with levels to be done on our twenty-week-old puppy to check his immunity against DHP. Very warm and welcoming, the receptionists are very helpful and friendly, over the years my dogs have seen most or all of the vets at the practice and have found them very professional and have always tried to make my dogs feel at ease, I won't forget the veterinarian nurses who are always there to offer advice. My family have used Thanet Hospital for many years. I have now used them since 2008 for my 3 cats. Front of house care is kind, thoughtful and friendly. The medical attention that my cats have received over the years has been personal and very touching. Noone likes their animal being ill but having to leave any of my cats in their care has been with ease as I know they will always be looked after with a personal professional touch.
I would highly recommend Thanet Animal Hospital to anybody.

Best vets I've been to! Taken my ratties to two other vets and both I left feeling a little uneasy and unsure about what to do with them. We have been with Thanet Animal Hospital for almost 12 years, the care they have given our animals past and present has always been of the highest standard. Medically they have given our animals longer, happier lives, managing health problem always with our Pets health and quality of life foremost and keep us going as well in the difficult times. Nothing has every been too much trouble.
Everyone from the Vets, Jill Mathews has been brilliant throughout the years, the nurses look after our animals with a care that is only second to what we given them, staying with then giving a cuddle or whatever they need.

Mutley was quite a regular visitor having sustained injuries from a cliff top fall, but was repaired and subsequently enjoyed many healthy years.
When his health broke down, Jill took a great deal of care and patience to ensure Mutley wouldn't become distressed or suffer in the last stages of his life. Her empathy made a huge difference to me.
Thanks Jill and the team. Definitely recommended..

Had to have my Charlie cat put to sleep on Tuesday, as it was very stressful for me and my partner, thanet animal hospital was very warm and helpful and we didn't feel rushed, they gave us time with our cat before she went to sleep we would like to highly recommend this practice and we will definitely be using them for the foreseeable future
