1.0 Very stressful and extremely poor management Team member (Former Employee) - Sevenoaks, Kent - 20 December 2022 Very stressful job, understaffed. Extremely poor and inexperience management, especially within the nursing team, no issues are ever resolved, penalised by everything. No help provided when really struggling, left alone to deal with all issues. The only positive thing about working at Pennard is animals and some other members of staff. Wouldn’t recommend!! My dog got sick out of nowhere, suddenly, we took her to their branches in Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and West Malling. They did not act with my pet’s best interests in mind. They were careless and passive when my pup was poorly, they did order the WRONG blood test (they acknowledged this and apologised) when time was kicking, they were also very passive. We were seeing them every other day. When I asked, what’s happening to my dog, they answered I don’t know. We should have been referred to North Downs Specialist vet or similar if they didn’t know how to help, instead we had to wait for 3 blood tests one of which was wrong, this wrong test delayed her treatment for 9 days, which eventually led to my dog collapsing, while waiting. I will be taking this further but none will give me my best friend back. AVOID! Read Less

Whilst we cannot fault the level of care for our pets, we were just stunned at the prices. Compared with other quotes we received (including our new veterinary practice which shows exactly the same level of care and expertise), Pennards were charging us double, if not 3x more for the same services (including the monthly Advocat). It is such a shame, as other than this they are a good practice. Their pricing level does not seem to be a new concern however, given some of the other reviews on this and other sites, and I just wish we had read some of them before registering with Pennards and wasting hundreds of pounds. I would definitely recommend shopping around! Read Less

We have used Pennards for several years for cats and small animals and always found both the office staff and vets polite and professional. In the event of emergencies you are dealing with one organisation from the initial call, as they have full on-site facilities and out-of-hours staff. While they can be a bit pricey at times, you do also get additional support from the vet returning calls rather than a consultation, and regular texts to remind on flea treatments etc. During the difficult times they have been understanding and supportive, offering practical advice, but also being realistic when required. I'm happy to recommend them. Read Less

We have taken our Labrador to Pennards since she was a puppy and have always found them to be a caring and skilled practice. The puppy classes were great, if they felt somewhat out of control at the time. They were invaluable at introducing our dog to the vets in a fun way and as a result she always bounds in to the vets, no matter how ill she is. Our dog has had a number of episodes of illness and vomiting (mainly from eating things she shouldn't) and has also been spayed. Each of these have been handled expertly by the vets - in some cases out of hours - and with their care our dog has recovered fully each time. We are always seen quickly in an emergency and I know our dog is in safe hands. I never feel hurried in a consultation and feel able to ask lots of questions. All of the team and friendly and take time to stroke our dog when we're in the practice. I took out the health plan which I found especially useful in the first year. Being a new dog owner it was helpful to see the vet nurse once a month with any questions and for a general check up, plus getting the vaccinations, flea treatment etc. I agree that the fees are high (40 or so for a consultation is a lot) but I have to weigh that up against the reassurance I have that they will provide the best treatment they can, and of course that our dog is happy to go there. Expensive but, on the whole, well worth it. Our dog has been with Pennard Vets for just under two years, since a puppy. It's well known as one of the more expensive vets in the area but as a first time dog owner I valued the free puppy play groups and advice and I liked the idea of their puppy plan (chargeable) with scheduled monthly appointments with the nurse and vaccinations. Perhaps if you were an experienced dog owner you would feel this was a waste of money but I certainly didn't. Unfortunately our dog developed an incredibly rare and severe viral infection, for which there is no proven cure. This is where I would say Pennard Vets came into its own. I simply don't believe we would have had the same quality of treatment if we had gone to Pets At Home, etc. Pennard Vets work closely with the Royal Vetinary College and their network of national and international experts. I felt that the treatment was the best we could have had for our dog. The care was compassionate, but honest; professional, but caring. We're not out of the woods yet but I feel that our dog has the best chance he can have of living a long healthy life and, if he doesn't, then I know Pennard Vets will be with us at the end, helping us through those difficult decisions. If you are lucky enough to have a largely healthy dog, then you might say that the fees are too high for consultations and minor procedures but if your dog is seriously ill (assuming you can afford it or, like us, have insurance) then the fees are worth it for the top quality care. Caroline has been amazing and has looked after Brandy with the care and affection as if she was her own dog. Ann is the best, most experienced and caring person on the front desk I have ever met. After many years of being a dog and cat owner, plus a pony and a variety of small animals,it has been necessary to attend numerous Veterinary Practices in both London and the Westcountry. Without a doubt Pennard Vets(Sevenoaks) are the best that I have ever known. They have been providing excellent care for Alfie and Archie my two Labradors and feline Oscar for five years.Recently Alfie has been treated for a knee injury, having managed to rupture a cruciate ligament. He is a very lively, highly strung dog and seeing him through surgery and the subsequent recovery time was made so much easier than it could have been by the support of the whole team! They rip you off with return visits at 45. Antibiotics, I wanted s prescription didn't want to pay 40, they got all funny about it and I eventually won, paid for the prescription and got the antibiotics for 3.24 from the chemist! When they checked my dog for his booster, they said his ears needed treatment fair enough so 70 plus pounds later. Please come next week. To be in there for seconds I thought it was all paid for and this was a quick check which it was but no 45. They don't care about your dog, it's do you have pet insurance yes I say. But I have house insurance doesn't mean I claim on it. I love my dog like my child but I don't throw medication down it's throat and make up an illness like his ears. I now have a brilliant caring vet with good standards and ethics not this practice. I had seen a really hard up old lady with her beloved cat in your vets and like she said you'd taken her rent money. Shame on you. You should have given her the prescription and told her a cheaper option. That cat was her only companion and she loved him, you argued with me and it a policing that you should have on the wall detailing this fact to animal owners. I'd rather people treated their pets and not be afraid to go the vets then animals stuffer because of vets like you.Read Less

Awful. We left our cat with them over Christmas and the customer service was disgusting. The desk staff barely acknowledged us, took our cat and tried to walk of without letting us say goodbye. The young woman behind the desk looked clueless, and explained nothing about what would happen whilst he was with them. We left feeling more worried than if we'd just left him at home. On collection they were no more helpful, and he was handed over without a word. Nothing to let us know how he had been etc. Terrible service, avoid at all costs.Read Less

I have moved from Tonbridge to East Sussex and because there is no better vets that I would trust to care for my dog I still use Pennard. Caroline has been amazing and has looked after Brandy with the care and affection as if she was her own dog. Ann is the best, most experienced and caring person on the front desk I have ever met. I always recommend Pennard to my family and friends and have never heard a bad word from anyone who has been. The emergency care service they offer has without doubt saved my dog when she was at her illest. Thank you to all of you for the amazing job you all do. Read Less

Our two cats (Pickle and Marcel) have been very well cared for by the team at Pennards in Tonbridge. Despite Pickle being scared by most things (not just going to the vet) - Matthew, Caroline and the rest of the team have been unwaveringly kind and supportive (and patient with us!) at each visit, and we have the confidence that the team have Marcel's, Pickle's (and our) best interests at heart. My family and I would like to say a very big thank you to vet Helena at the Allington branch for her wonderful treatment of our beloved black lab Bentley. Helena was always very gentle with him and explained everything very clearly, leaving any decisions to be made in our hands but at the same time supporting us. Unfortunately last Thursday Bentley was put to sleep and Helena was extremely caring and made a horrible experience bearable with her warmth and empathy. Pennards also surprised us with a lovely bouquet of flowers and their sympathies a couple of days later. Thank you Pennards at Allington Read Less

STAY A WAY WITH CHICKENS !!! Calls the vet before a visit to make sure they will be able to help my ill chicken and described the symptoms as past other vets couldn't diagnosis her illness. I was informed that the vet Elli has experience with chickens and she's happy to see us. It turn up, she had no clue what the problem was. Her approach to my pet and me was cold and I felt that I'm asking to many questions, she suggested referral and charged me 40 !!! Read Less

Thank you to all the team at Pennards for taking professionalism to the highest level and providing a friendly and caring service for both your patients and their owners! Read Less

The Sevenoaks branch has been fab with my two cats- particularly my Alice who was taken to the practice as a stray and stayed there until I fell in love with her and brought her home. My other cat is being helped (or should I say I'm being helped!) with weight loss and is very nearly back to 'regular cat size' (!) Fab service, very happy and particularly recommend the pet health club - thank you!! Read Less

Thank you to all at Pennards Tonbridge and Sevenoaks (particularly Meg) who have looked after Bertie so well over the past two weeks. Unfortunately his leg had to be amputated following a bad break, but he has now come to live with me in his forever home where he will live a very pampered life. I appreciate all that the vets and nurses have done for my animals over the past 19 years and long may this continue. Read Less
