We discovered this practice through fostering a GAL greyhound. We had an old dog of our own that was near the end of her life and our previous vet seemed to be more interested in making money than our pet's welfare. The vet Michelle, even though we were new clients, agreed to put our pet to sleep for us and did so in a very loving and dignified manner. This is an excellent vet's surgery. I am the human companion for two complicated cats, and have been registered with Hyndland St Vets, on and off, for 14 years (the on and off part is only because of house moves, nothing to do with the service).I've been here a LOT. Like I said, complicated cats. The first thing I always notice is that the surgery is very clean and well maintained, so there is no fear that kitty will pick up something unpleasant from the examination table or floor. It's a small space out front, but they've done well with it. Let's call it a 'boutique' veterinary surgery. The front desk/vet nurses are lovely. Real animal lovers, who are so patient and tolerant. We were in last Saturday, several times for various reasons, and on our afternoon visit, I noticed that the woman on reception had a different uniform on from her morning attire. I remarked on this, and she responded 'yeah, I got pooed on', with no sense of regret or misfortune. She then told me all the details about the lovely wee dug, and what a great dog he was. No grudges either. I guess being pooed on must happen all the time. They're good with stressed out humans too. The vets that I've seen have been great - I absolutely trust them, and have felt so reassured that my kitties are being expertly looked after. I also like the other customers - you never sit in awkward silence here - it's the sort of place where you chat away about your pets and comfort/reassure/laugh with each other.Overall, a fantastic vet's surgery - your beloved pets are in safe hands here. Took wee Stimpy here for his free initial kitten check up. The journey there wasn't great, had a very unsettled kitten in his carrier. We arrived early and were taken in early, so the wee chap was glad to get out of his carrier. The girl on reception was really friendly, so our first impressions were great. The vet we seen, Susan, was really lovely. She weighed him, checked him all over, asked lots of questions about his behaviour, age etc and seemed genuinely interested in his well-being. She gave us free worming and flea treatments, which is fantastic and got him booked in for his first vaccination. Was given an appointment card too, which is handy for someone as forgetful as me. She was very patient with Stimpy's running around, trying to jump off the table and squirming. She also gave us advice on how much cover we should make sure we have, insurance-wise. They have a selection of pet things in a glass cabinet at the reception, didn't pay much attention to the prices, will have a look next time. There were collars, cat litter, sprays etc. The surgery is super clean and bright. Can't say I'm looking forward to putting Stimpy back in his carrier and watching him get a vaccination, but knowing that this is such a great surgery and that Susan is such a caring person really helps.Really glad this is our local vet! I took my cat along to this practice due to making a grinding noise on the one side of her mouth. I was told my cat was in excellent health, that her weight was fine for her frame. I have since taken my poor cat to another vet only to find out that the grinding most probably is down to her having arthritic jaw. Her mouth now bleeds every time she eats. I incidently was sent home with a toothpaste for her. I was told that her gums had no sign of inflammation but there is now inflammation. Poor cat is very stressed with all of this ...When I noticed the blood from her mouth last night I messaged this page looking for my mind to be put to rest. The message was read and nobody bothered to message me back. Very disappointing experience that I won't be repeating. All of the above is why I would avoid and is also why I have given a low ratingRead Less

The friendliness and professionalism of all of the vets/nurses/reception staff is simply exemplary and the care given to our two kittens (who have had a fairly 'interesting' medical history so far) has been amazing. They have (several times) squeezed us in after core hours on the same day we ring up. They have been excellent at offering post op check ups and always give our cats a full work over whenever they come in to make sure everything is progressing. We experience a real piece of mind knowing our cats are registered with them and I can't recommend them highly enough. Our cats race into the carry case as soon as the door is opened as they know they'll get a trip to the vets and a treat and a cuddle. They always offer the very best care for my pet rabbit, Barbarella. Normally I only have to visit for routine vaccinations and grooming but unfortunately she was recently a bit poorly. I was there nearly every day for a week as the vets did what they could to get her back to full health and I'm very pleased to say she made a full recovery. We normally deal with Susan who handles Barbarella extremely well (finding a rabbit-friendly vet can be tricky!) and always makes a bit fuss of her. I moved away from the area a few years ago but still make the journey to Hyndland Street as I am so confident and happy with the care they offer! Read Less

We've seen that little waiting room far too often but at least  the large window offers a distraction for you whilst you wait. In my experience you get to the vets 5 or 10 minutes before your appointment and then 20 minutes later you're still sat there. But here we were always seen fairly quickly. The biggest clincher though is that when our fat kittie had to stay in there for 3 days the staff were fantastic - calling us up to give progress reports, not minding us phoning up to check how he was doing. They understood that people aren't made of money and let us make our own transport arrangements to the 24 hour vets so we could save a bit of dosh and get to see the cat for the few minutes drive. When our lovely puss had to be put down the staff again were brilliant (and also rather emotional!). We went to these vets on the recommendation of a neighbour and I would really recommend them to anyone else. I'm sure we'll be seeing them again at some point... Read Less

We found the Hyndland Street Vet Surgery earlier this year when we were looking for a second opinion for our geriatric cat's care.  The poor old feline has since passed away, but we are back at Hyndland again with two kittens we welcomed into our home last week.  The kittens are both boys and they were in today for that dreaded surgical procedure...you know the one!To cut a long story short (sorry, horrible pun), everything went really well and the staff at the clinic kept in touch with us throughout the day about how they were getting on and when we would be able to come pick them up.  When we did get them early this evening, they looked fine, if a bit dazed, and I felt like they had been well looked after all day long.  It's not the easiest procedure for a couple of kitties to endure, but at least they had it done at a good place. The clinic is very busy and always well-staffed.  It would be nice to see one dedicated vet each time we visit, but I realise that's just not possible in such a popular clinic.  Regardless, we have consistently been pleased with the care our furry friends receive, and the rates for normal procedures are quite reasonable.  I'm happy to know that our kittens have a reliable place to go for their vet services and I'd recommend them to anyone in the area.  There are other vets closer to where we live, but we travel the extra distance to the Hyndland Surgery because of the excellent care they give. My friend's poor old rat developed a bit of a pussy ear, so he boxed him up, collected me along the way for moral support, and we set off to find a nice man to make Ray better again. The nice man took the shape of a few friendly ladies who make up the staff of the vet surgery on Hyndland St, and our quest for a cure ended up needing several visits to these ladies, until we ended up knowing the tiny waiting room and the Beanos supplied for reading material inside out. They advised us well, kept us informed to our options and despite the pussy growth on Ray's head, they still seemed to find him as adorable as we did - which is what every pet owner wants, deep down. Unfortunately, all their care and all our money (as one would expect from any vet, the bills racked up pretty high) wasn't enough for poor Ray, and the vets were very good at the end - honest about his prospects (which weren't good), sympathetic and gentle. But then so would I be if someone had spent over £100 in my surgery!Still, they were lovely ladies - and easy to get appointments with too. Read Less

Read Less

I hadn't registered at the Vet's as I'd just moved up but then wee Peg got an injured paw meaning an emergency trip to the Vet - they were able to see her straight away which was great and the staff all make a real fuss of your pooch. I was really impressed with the service - and a choice of coloured bandages too - what more could you  ask for?! Highly recommended...

Read Less
