Pike Moor Vets

General Info
Pike Moor Vets is an independent small animal veterinary practice serving parts of the Bolton, Wigan and Chorley districts. The surgery has grown steadily over that last 30 years, constantly developing and improving the diagnostic and treatment facilities we can offer to our patients and clients.
Care is provided by qualified Veterinary Surgeons, qualified Veterinary Nurses and dedicated and experienced support staff at two surgeries, one in Horwich and one in Westhoughton.
The surgery offers a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and surgical facilities in addition to annual health checks and vaccines, preventative health care advice, neutering and microchip implantation. Free nurse clinics are available for weight clinics, puppy clinics and kitten clinics. We can also offer advice on a range of behavioural and anxiety problems suffered by domestic pets.

I would not consider changing and using another vet as I trust them completely with my dogs care
they always do whats best for the animal which means everything to us

Have only used these vets for the past 12 months but have to say all the vets are very good as well as the nurses and the receptionists. Both my dogs go here and now my daughters dog too.

We came to deliver a diseased, clearly lived pet and the vets refused to hold the cat while the owners came to decide on how to move forward. The attitude we received by the receptionist was appalling and showed this in front of customers in the waiting area. From the comments made, it was clear that money was of more importance to them.

Had to ring pike moor today with an emergency, they saw Lola (my Maltese terrier) straight away. Thank you to Robin and the other staff in today, you were amazing with Lola and reassured me she was happy when I left her (I know I'm a crazy dog lady) even though she was really poorly I knew she was in good hands. Thanks again I would recommend this surgery to anyone x

Had two appointments here with my puppy. First was a vaccination which when i rang to book they did not advise it needed to be so many weeks,after the last one meaning a,wasted trip. Then i booked my pup in to be spayed. To take a day off work and get there to be told it needs to be at least 8-10 weeks from her last season....which no one advised me or asked me on the phone when booking the appointment. Will not be returning!!!

Outstanding practice, Robin and Laura have looked after our eight guinea pigs, unfortunately we lost one this year, but Robin was lovely throughout and treated him with real dignity and us with compassion. Both Laura and Robin have done a sterling job in their work, giving their honest opinions and helping us to make the right decisions for our pets. Reception staff are friendly and always helpful in ensuring our pets get seen as quickly as possible when needed. I have no hesitation in recommending.

Outstanding practice, Robin and Laura have looked after our eight guinea pigs, unfortunately we lost one this year, but Robin was lovely throughout and treated him with real dignity and us with compassion. Brilliant surgery, they cared for my dog ;Ellie, all the way to the very end. They supported us throughout her life which involved regular visits due to her allergies and additional health problems in her later years. They treated with the dignity she deserved on her last day and cannot thank them enough. I could not recommend them any higher.

Please do not be swayed by the only other review on this site (Rachel ??? - 21 May 2008) as it was probably written in the heat of the moment as she had just lost her pet. I was really upset by this review as I have been using Pike Moor Vets for as long as I have lived in Bolton and have found them to be absolutely brilliant. All the vets talk to you in a way that you can understand what is wrong with your pet and they are genuinely caring to the extent that they ask you to ring in a couple of days to advise how your pet is going along. I have had two cats neutered at the surgery and have been overwhelmed by the care of all the staff there - even the receptionists are aware of who you are (put you at ease when you have to leave your pet overnight) and what the pets name is - they are genuinely interested in the welfare of your pets. I would advise anyone in doubt to go to the actual Pike Moor Vets website and see some of the amazing testimonials there - like the guy whose dog severed an artery in his paw and they saved his life through emergency surgery. I cannot recommend the place highly enough and whether you are there for something simple like a booster jab, all the vets are happy to give the pet a thorough examination and talk you through any concerns you might have. Their service is second to none and the prices are not anything like as high as larger practices. Thank you to all the vets at Pike Moor - I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Had to ring pike moor today with an emergency, they saw Lola (my Maltese terrier) straight away.
