Our 12 year old retreiver Sam was admitted as an emergency in the early hours of Monday morning as he was unable to stand without falling over. He was examined by a vet who insisted on an ultrasound of his heart and also on his spleen first which turned out to be 'normal'. He seemed a little dismissive of his ability of Sams legs to withstand his own weight and was very interested in what the costs were so far. So Sam was admitted until Wednesday eveing when we were allowed to bring him home to see if his motor skills could be improved upon. When getting him home to our absolute horror his mouth was full of ulcers and his tongue swollen and black. This was never mentioned upon collecting him and they prevented him eating and being able to take his medication. Unfortunately we had to have Sam put to sleep as his limbs did not improve. Emily the vet, Courtney the vetinary nurse and also Donna on reception were absolutely brilliant and were both understanding and compassionate. Overall though unless you can guarantee the care given is by the above mentioned staff, be wary and question everything both during care and before any bills are settled. Read Less

took my dog to the 24h EMERGENCY vet, he was very odd. just fobbed me off. the next day my dog died. i would never use this vet again and after speking to people,loads of people have had similar experiences. have left negative reviews on here only for them to be removed. Read Less

My cat was very poorly and it was the weekend, so my usual vets were closed, so after reading a few reviews on here I drove to this practice. The staff were very friendly and throughout the stay of my poor little kitty cat, I was given regular updates about his condition. Anyway, my cat is alot better now I would recommend that anyone take their pet to the vets here, would absolutely use again. Just a note, you can park at the front of the vets and have to get a yellow card from inside the vets which gives you 30 mins free parking, just make sure you display it to not get a ticket! I cannot recommend this practise enough. My Greyhound came here last month 2 days before Christmas when she has broken one of her legs. It was a long 12 hours as we then found out she had cancer in the broken leg and severe arthritis in the other leg. She wouldn't of been happy to survive on 3 legs with the other one being in a bad condition. Since bringing Miley into the vets the staff couldn't of been more helpful, the minute we left her the staff where sat on the floor cuddling her so i knew she was being looked after. As it was going on midnight the same day we had to make the choice as a family if to let her go or not, one of the hardest things we have ever had to go through. Not only did the vets give us options, they sent a specialist in late that night to give a final opinion they could not of done anymore. Thanks for all your help Armac :) Read Less

avoid at all costs. left my bulldog in difficult labour ( green fluid pouring from her) waiting for two hours for an EMERGENCY c section. waiting until all the pups were dead. they then charged me £1200. heart less God less Read Less

We were referred here from our own vets, due to the fact that my cat needed rounds of testing and treatment over the bank holiday weekend. The staff were absolutely amazing here. They are so kind and didn't mind when I called to ask for updates. They made a unpleasant situation bearable, thank you Armac! Read Less

Took my cat to here as they could look after her 24hours and my normal vets couldnt. She had a possible heart problem. The surgery did a heart scan and xrays. Before collecting her i had seen a total of 3 vets from this surgery that described her condition. In the end i was given heart tablets. After a few days i took her back to my usual vets. It turned out that her condition was completely different and she required surgery. I had to use Armac 1 more time for my cat to be monitored over night because of breathing diffculties. Despite the wrong diagnosis and treatment they would not come to an agreement on charges and in fact tried to overcharge me for something they hadnt done!! I strongly recommend that you try another surgery before this 1. I unfortunately had no choice and despite the staff being friendly their prices arent and their vets obviously lack knowledge or experience. Wish is scary seen as you want nothing but the best for your beloved pets. Read Less

I took a poorly, however still active guinea pig there - he was moving around just fine and was were attentive and curious, however minutes after the vet gave him some injection, which was supposed to be a painkiller, the guinea started losing its strength within seconds and unfortunately passed about half an hour after the procedure. Highly don't recommend taking any exotic small animals there as the vets don't know what theyre doing. Read Less

Just want to say thankyou to all the wonderful staff for the care given to out 10 month old American bulldog Tyson. He contracted the parvo virus and we very nearly lost him. I would not use this vets even if you paid me. They are uncaring and the staff have no time for you and miserable. It is all about money and not about the pet so be careful. I have changed to a much better smaller practice now. Read Less

Can't fault the care but if they give you an estimate ask for a print out and make sure it includes the nursing and medication your pet will need for any proceedure or I can guarantee you will get a shock when you get your invoice. Read Less

Our usual vet had no available appointments and as Roxy,our cat, was becoming unresponsive we called Armac. They saw her straight away as an emergency,the vet examined her, explaining everything to us carefully. A week later she is slowly recovering but only because of Armac's speedy response. Not even a 1 star TBH!i'm certain that my dog was mistreated here as she came home frightened and flinching when I went to stroke her!the vet was rude,nasty and completely un helpful!quite happy to take all my money and let her health deteriorate trying to persuade us to put her down and now a month down the line she is still in good health!please don't bring your pets here!It's un clean and there is no love for the animals,very money orientated!As my partner used the bathroom a dog was in view completely cut open and dogs left unsupervised in dirty cages,horrible experience! I have been with Armac since I moved in to Bury nearly 20 years ago and the care and attention they have given to my dogs over the years has been nothing but the best right down from the partners to the reception staff. Just taken my daughter to Armac in Bury to have her pet dog but to sleep the vet stated that the dog was in pain and advice the best option was to put him to sleep she agreed and then was told if she wanted to be with him it will cost 97 pounds otherwise they would leave him until later on in the day to put him a sleep the end it cost her 300 pounds shame on you Armac you not interested in the animal welfare just the money you can make. My partner and I found a lost dog wandering around in the freezing cold morning and after calling the council and RSPCA (no help at all) we called these guys. Without hesitation, they took the dog straight in, scanned the chip and had her reunited with her owners before I'd finished my shift. Fantastic!Read Less

I have been with ARMAC Vetinary Group since I moved into Bury some 18 years back. I have always found them attentive to the pets and they listen to the signs you are describing. All the staff are friendly and are very welcoming when you enter. As for treatment and pricing - they do not give medication unless absolutely necessary, and pricing is very fair.
