I had to take my cat to the out of hours practice at My Vet at Clayton le Dale off the A59. The vet there told me that the prognosis for my cat was not good, gave the option to put her to sleep, despite having tried no treatment and was very dismissive. As a result I suffered an enormous amount of stress and upset in the following days. I took her to Mearleys in Clitheroe a couple of days later as instructed (she had massively improved) and she was seen by Dr Sebastiano. He was so patient and kind, listened attentively and provided some much needed reassurance. I truly believe that if I had seen this guy initially, I would not have suffered the trauma caused by my experience as My Vet. He treated my cat who is now back to her usual happy and healthy self. I can't speak for the other vets as I have only seen this one but I will most definitely be asking for him in the future. Read Less

I have nothing but praise for Mearley Vets in Clitheroe, in particular Dr Sebastiano. He saw Chico 3 months ago when we took him thinking we’d have to have him put down. He was very poorly but Dr Sebastiano gave us treatment for his heart, kidneys and liver. We have been back today for his routine vaccinations and health check. Whilst he will always have a heart murmur, he is back to his old self which at 12 years old is amazing. It was so lovely for Dr Sebastiano to see him again. Absolutely disgraceful service we have received from them, my cat was ill and we took him to Mearley vets 5 weeks ago where he was admitted. We got told by the first Vet he has fatty liver disease but after 3 days he was sent home without any medication for his liver. My cat stopped eating again and I took him back where they admitted him again this time 2 other vets said he doesn't have a liver problem and he has something in his blood and he was given steroids and antibiotics. This time when I bought my cat back he couldn't walk properly one of his arm was full of blood and the other with drips. It took me 2 weeks to get his results which was disgusting. After leaving several messages for 1 vet who was looking after my cat he didn't come back so I told by a 4th vet he does have a problem with his liver and it could be life threatening I was mortified. The next day I took my cat again for a check up and the vet again said he doesn't have a problem with liver... no one knew what was going on........ Then my cat was given steroid antibiotic and anti sickness injection, the same day he couldn't breathe and he was yet again taken to Mearly in Clitheroe and 2 days later he died and the vet told me had obstructive liver. I am heartbroken by this and I am asking for answers why my cat wasn't given any supportive medication for his liver and the reply I have got is we DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!!!!!!!!!! AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS 24 HRS SERVICE YET NO ONE WAS THERE TO LOOK AFTER MY BABY....... THEY LEFT HIM IN CRITICAL CONDITION AND WENT HOME. WHILST MY BABY HAD PASSED AWAY AT THE VETS THE VET TOLD ME WE DON'T RING STUPID'OCLOCK AND HE NEEDS HIS SLEEP. IF YOU WANT YOUR PET TO BE ALIVE DONT ADMIT THEM OVERNIGHT AT MEARLEY'S Read Less

A poor experience. Our cat was ill and we took it to Mearleys as it was local to us in Clitheroe. The initial consultation was good with the regular vet and we duly payed our invoice for consultation and treatments supplied, but then was asked to come back a couple of weeks later to check on progress of treatment. We came back again to find the regular vet on holiday and a temporary vet standing in, we basically was charged nearly £40 to be told that we would need to come back again when the regular vet was back from their annual leave, an appointment that lasted all of about 2 minutes, if that. When we got a bill come through we wrote to Mearleys about this, but never got any response back from them. I dont' have an issue paying a bill if justified, but feel that Mearleys have been very unprofessional in their approach in charging people but not offering any service for checkups Read Less
