Would put No stars if I could. The most traumatising experience. We had made it clear it would most likely be a euthanasia appointment before going with the expectation that things would be prepared. We sadly had to put our beautiful little girl down. She was an extremely nervous cat at the best of times so we knew it had to be quick and calm. Despite all our efforts to make her comfortable, when we got there and the decision was made, instead of it being peaceful it was suddenly chaotic! I assumed it would be performed with compassion and somewhere nice and quiet as possible. After initial examination, We then had to get her back into her cat carrier and instead of being taken down the quiet corridor to the room we were then confusingly heading we were made to go through the then crowded waiting where two massive barking dogs were barring the door (my cat was terrified of even small dogs) and lots of people which really scared my cat, then out into a busy car park and then into an operating room which had a humongous machine in making the most loudest, relentless, disturbing noise that we could barely hear over. Their was no debriefing on what was about to happen or if we could touch her during the process. On the way in the vet had nonchalantly said ‘can’t do anything about the noise’. Completely did not care at all. I was so confused with adrenaline from having to prepare for what was about to happen and put my trust in supposed professionals I let it go ahead but I wish I had just turned on my heel and tried to sort things in a calmer quieter environment somewhere else but also I didn’t want any more messing about to prolong any suffering for her. I couldn’t hear the vet over the noise while it was all happening. My poor cat was in absolute terror while she was pinned down and shaking incredibly due to the racket. She could only see a bit out of one eye by now due to a large tumour so I tried to stroke her head a bit and speak to her so she knew my Mum and I were there, but she would have just heard the loud machine probably not me. The vet was saying something I couldn’t hear over the machine noise and I didn’t know if it was to me or the nurse. I didn’t want to interfere with the procedure so I stopped stroking her poor little trembling head, which I will always regret as it seemed to be the only thing that calmed her slightly for a tiny moment. I understand the machines are doing important things but having them going through a cycle or even in the same room that euthanising is ever going to go on in anyway is a disgrace. Also a quick, quiet room transfer and departure should always be possible. This vet seemed good according to my family member but I wished I’d read all the reviews as it seems like there are lots of issues with lack of compassion here and the focus of money making over animals’ wellbeing. The vet and nurse then swiftly disappeared and We were told to ring a bell after if we’d wanted to ‘have a few minutes’ with her in this hellish room with this dreadful noise. We tried to get over the shock then carefully removed her from the awful place ASAP No one came when we rang the bell. So then my poor traumatised mother had to then go and queue up to pay for this horrific experience and then broke down crying in the busy carPark afterwards where everyone could see us. So our cherished little girl’s last few minutes on the earth were filled with terror that could have been and should have been totally avoided. We will never get that image out of our heads or the guilt of trusting this place. Clearly that is not how an already traumatic procedure should be undertaken. Not that money is the main point here but especially when paying astronomical fees for pet healthcare also. Please do not use this vet. Especially not for the above reasons. Completely shocked and wouldn’t like it happening to anyone else or their pet to be so scared in their last moments. Dreadful. Read Less

Our dog was admitted to the animal hospital on bank holiday Monday after an RTA, we were quoted £1K to £1.5k to pin his leg which went up to £3k once they knew we had insurance. The aftercare was lacking, the times of his appointments weren’t communicated to us, we took him in after being told that he was the first appointment of the day only to have him admitted all day (we had been told this would only be done if there was any concerns on seeing the wound) the next day it unravelled but they couldn’t find us any appointments to see him over a 3 day period apart from one within 20 minutes that we couldn’t possibly make to fix it up, we had to resort to sellotape. The reception manager was incredibly rude to my partner and told him he was lying and all they were interested in was money. The nursing staff were good. We changed to another vets and now have seen the X-rays of the procedure, his leg has only been partly pinned leaving a floating bone. I cannot rate Austin highly enough, our 1 year old Frenchie ‘Hulk’ had a severe case of BOAS, which was progressively getting worse. His breathing was so restricted due to his narrow nostrils and elongated soft palate, that he couldn’t even eat or sleep properly let alone exercise!! His quality of life was terrible. Austin performed rhinoplasty and then soft palate surgery. Hulk is so much improved it’s overwhelming, he’s happy, eating and sleeping perfectly. This vets saved our dogs life. Absolutely awful - they do not care at all. My partner had his cat of 19 years put down and PAID IN FULL on the day for a deluxe cremation. 6 days later he was told that his cat had not been sent off to be cremated due to his mother having an outstanding debt with her guide dog that she trains (note: the guide dog charity directly pays the vet for treatment). When this happened with a previous pet that had passed away, they also AGAIN claimed that there was an outstanding guide dog debt. It is absolutely disgusting that my partner paid in full for this treatment yet it was delayed due to a completely unrelated charge. The vet did not even bother to tell him on the actual day or the days after OR when they booked the initial appointment. They are more than happy to take your money on the spot and provide an incompetent service. Please do not take your pets here, especially not to be put down. The staff here are very incompetent and incredibly heartless to hold his pet as ransom. Read Less

‭These people don’t care about animals, all they want is money. My dog was dying on Monday night and Barn Lodge was my normal vet’s out-of-hours provider. Called their number, and got a recorded message saying to call their out-of-hours vet at X number or nurse at X number - both 07, so I naturally assumed it would come out of my minutes. Called one of the numbers, left my message with the operator (twice) and spoke to someone after my dog had died. The salt on the wound is finding out now that I’ve been charged 48p per call (or maybe even per minute!?) when this was in no way advertised. Spoke to staff when I discovered this, and they had no sympathy or remorse in what is frankly a sly tactic. “We didn’t say it would be free.” If it’s going to cost me, just let me know in advance. Many other vets don’t charge for OOH advice, but those are the ones that care. Avoid or it’ll cost you more than you know. Read Less

We cannot thank them enough. *****highly recommend***** Read Less

Read Less

Can't thank the team at Barn Lodge Vets enough, they were truly fantastic. We had our Frenchie C sectioned (out of hours) by them and honestly they did an amazing job in caring for mum and delivering 9 healthy puppies. It takes a lot to WOW me and I must say on this occasion I was certainly wowed. After being quoted literally 50% more from 4 other Vets I saved a fortune too. Can't praised them enough 10/10 Read Less

Read Less
