The vet was lovely, professional, polite and obviously very good at his job, he was brilliant with the pups and knew a lot about Saluki puppies.
The one star review is 💯 for the vet nurse who was on reception duty when we attended for our puppies second jabs, at 14:30 on Friday August 13th 2021. Her attitude was awful.
As soon as we walked through the door, she barked at us to "sit down over there". I was shocked by the abruptness of it. I felt like a primary school kid being sent to the head mistress office.
The vet was fantastic, knowledgeable, proficient and kind.
I came out of the office to pay and was again very rudely demanded to "sit down over there". I had two heavy, wriggling puppies in my arms, and I was in pain from a back injury and unable to sit for than a minute or two.
I waited, standing, for ages whilst she ignored me. I was in a lot of pain and my disabled partner, also a veteran had to take the pups out to the car.
I waited, and waited, then I noticed that my vet books that I thought I was waiting for were sitting on the desk.
So the keeping me waiting was for no reason other than rudeness and ignorance. She did feign busyness, poorly, by occasionally hitting a key on the computer keyboard.
It was very obvious that her behaviour was deliberately belligerent and obnoxious, and her intention was simply to inconvenience me as much as possible, as well as being extremely impolite in her verbal interactions with us.
I approached her and told her that I have other dogs I needed to get home to, not to mention we were parked awkwardly because there is zero parking.
She then finally allowed me to pay and leave.
I unfortunately have to get two more puppies vaccinated here as I need continuity of care/Vaccine compatibility, and there isn't much choice of vetinary practices in this area, after which I will NEVER use a Barn Lodge again, even if it means driving miles out of our way.
On Monday I will be registering my adult dogs and the puppy I'm keeping from this litter with a different practice.
I'm a hospice nurse and if I showed her attitude to anyone at work, I would have been sacked on the spot.
We attended under my partner's name of Elliott, in case the business owner wishes to check records.
I want to add, they were NOT busy. Not at all.
There was one person waiting when we got there, still only the same person waiting when we left. Maybe she was waiting to pay, if so she is probably still waiting there now.
I have quite severe anxiety about situations like this, again related to my time in the Military, so I was already super stressed about being there, and the experience was made so much worse by this "nurse", if she hates her job so much that she needs to treat paying service users in this way, maybe she should retire and let someone who wants the job and is more suitable for the position take over.
