Foremost Veterinary Surgery in Wigan for over 20 years. We have built up a reputation of high quality veterinary care in a well equipped modern surgery within a beautiful Georgian style building.
The surgery offers a wide range of services including consultations, nurse clinics, surgery, pharmacy and pet food dispensing to name just a few. Home visits are available along side full hospitalisation in separate cat and dog wards. We offer a dedicated out of hours emergency service. We have easy access, a prominent location and a free car park at the rear of the building.
Fully trained and qualified Veterinary Nurses work alongside our four full time Veterinary Surgeons and dedicated reception staff, giving our clients friendly, caring and honest advice, ensuring our high reputation in the Wigan area and beyond.

Two members of staff at this practice sadly lack the ability to deal with pet owners in the correct manner. Totally unprofessional. If zero stars could be given, I would have done so. Their complaints...
Two members of staff at this practice sadly lack the ability to deal with pet owners in the correct manner. Totally unprofessional. If zero stars could be given, I would have done so. Their complaints procedure is also laughable. Not sure there is a point to having a Practice Manager. Theirs had the cheek to suggest that I speak to a Bluecross bereavement counsellor because I complained about how I was treated by said two members of staff the day our cat was put to sleep. Whatever you do, do not put your pets suffering ahead of their ‘professional opinion’. You will just have things thrown at you to sign, be passed over to other staff AND have a nurse glare at you while you say goodbye to your poorly pet on one of the most upsetting and distressing days of your life. A one time excellent village veterinary surgery (had a dog registered there in the 1980/90’s) has been ruined. Will never take a pet there again. Absolutely terrible.

Recently took our bulldog Salty to Gilmore's after being misdiagnosed with a tummy bug. Was told she had an infection in her lady parts. Went back for 5days each day why she had antibiotic injections ...
Recently took our bulldog Salty to Gilmore's after being misdiagnosed with a tummy bug. Was told she had an infection in her lady parts. Went back for 5days each day why she had antibiotic injections (as she hadn't ate for 10days so wouldn't have tablets). Eventually Mr Gilmore decided to get her in to be spayed. She was in and out the same day and is now back to her silly and naughty self. Would highly recommend Mr Gilmore and his team who went the extra mile to get Salty better and have let us pay after all the treatment was completed as after paying 300 at the emergency vets for a misdiagnosis left us short. Just proves they care about each animal they treat and it isn't just a business like most vets.

I visited today with my old Rabbit Sheila, unfortunately wasn't the news I wanted but I and can say the vet was the best I've ever seen, so knowledgeable and very compassionate, he spent a lot of time with us and you could tell he loved his job, can't recommend any higher, fantastic vets! We have been using Gilmore Vets for more years than I car to remember. There are two veterinary surgeries closer to our house but we are absolutely delighted with both the service and the friendly knowledgeable staff at Gilmore Vets so we would rather travel that bit further.
Currently we have 3 dogs and two cats.

I have been bringing my cat, Basil Brush to you for a long time. I have always been pleased with the service and caring nature of the staff and the honest advice from the vets. I have found the pricing to be reasonable and after taking advice I now have my cat insured! Thank you so much for the help you gave Basil last month after he was hit by a car. I am pleased to say he is on the mend :)

I've been using this veterinary surgery for around 25 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Mr Gilmore is not only really good at his job, he is friendly with his customers and sympathetic and caring...
I've been using this veterinary surgery for around 25 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Mr Gilmore is not only really good at his job, he is friendly with his customers and sympathetic and caring to the pets in his care. The other vets in the practise are extremely knowledgable and the receptionists are extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Up to now I have taken dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters and a wide variety of parrots which usually need specialist care. Despite Mr Gilmore not being a specialised avian vet I trust him completely with my flock. I can't recomment this surgery and the staff highly enough.
