Claude, the vet, casually misdiagnosed a malignant mast cell tumour as a fatty lump on 2 occasions over period of 9 months based on just 'feeling' it. On 3rd check, locum advised removal due to size. When tumour was removed and classified, I was referred to a specialist oncologist who advocated further treatment. Vet at this surgery then advised against any further course of action. Felt so uncomfortable about seeking specialist treatment, changed to different practice in Loughborough. Despite a bleak initial prognosis (usually less than 12 months after diagnosis for this stage of cancer), my dog is still with me (28 months since I noticed it) and healthy apart from her tumour which is, thankfully, still localised. I think this is because further treatment was pursued which was well managed, well tolerated and significantly slowed the tumour's regrowth and inevitable spread. The vet may avoid unnecessary procedures but on this occasion, missed a serious diagnosis and I can't help but think an earlier biopsy/diagnosis may have offered a much happier outcome in the long term. It may not, but I won't know. The veterinary nurses here are great but I would advise against using this vet. Read Less
