We had a surprise yesterday afternoon when our pygmy goat, Mary, went into labour. As she hasnt been pregnant for three years we thought her kidding days were over but we hadnt reckoned on our buck, Tommys determination. Her waters broke around 5 pm and an hour later we knew all was not well - a bloody discharge made us think the kid was probably dead. Since Mary didnt seem distressed or in pain we decided to wait until morning before we sought help. We phoned Fenwold Veterinary Practice at Spilsby and they said bring her straight in which we did. We have not used them before but we have to say they were brilliant welcoming, supportive and helpful all that one wants from a veterinary practice. Veterinary nurse Alison took charge ably assisted by Kirsty and the caesarean section was performed by vet, Richard Morris. As expected the kid was dead but Mary is recovering at home now so a big thank you to Fenwold Veterinary Practice!Read Less
