I had to visit yesterday with my beloved ferret who, it turned out, had an aggressive mouth cancer. The wonderful vet helped him cross the Rainbow bridge with dignity and it was completely stress free. Dennis da Fuzzit, was calm and not worried throughout. I cannot say how grateful I was. He's gone to join his old mate Russell who passed in his sleep in December. My 2 Grumpy old men are gone. I was so impressed with the vet that I am transferring my business to them. I have a *lot* of pets (all other people's unwanteds) so my vet is a very important person in my life, they have to be the best. Read Less

I took my extremely poorly 6 month old Ragdoll kitten to be put to rest to end all suffering but what he received was the send off from hell. I was told he would be put into a deep sleep for a few minutes and then given the lethal dosage to stop his heart. On doing so, we were told that the first injection 'might sting'. The vet administrated the drug into Hugo's shoulders and as he pulled the needle out, poor Hugo jumped back and shook and fell off backwards off the table as the vet didn't even attempt to stop Hugo and just held his arms out saying "well I've never had that reaction before". I then picked Hugo up and passed him into my wife's arms who cuddled Hugo until he was completely asleep. There was no apology or attempt to pick Hugo up...maybe the vet should have been more prepared for any reaction! Hugo was extremely weak and could hardly walk due yet his needs were not supported. We were then ushered into a different room so the vet could see other patients. My wife held onto Hugo until the vet came back in. She had been in tears from the start and was not offered a tissue once. The vet came back in and told my wife to lay 'her' onto the table when though Hugo has always been a him! After laying him on the table, the vet prepared the lethal dosage and grabbed a chunk of Hugo's side and jabbed the injection into his heart. This dosage did not stop poor Hugo's heart so yet another dosage was jabbed into his heart. This is the most horrific way my wife and I have seen an animal being put to sleep. Our last haunting memory is of Hugo falling off the table and looking at us to say 'what have you done to me?'. This will stay with us forever and we will no longer be using these vets as a result. We will be taking our 2 dogs and 6 cats else where to somewhere. Wayne has dealt with the issue personally with me yet nothing will ever change our horrific experience.Read Less

Today my beautiful bengal Bailey was seen by Sylwia at Alders as he had a minor head injury which had become infected. The nurses, Danielle and Sally, assured me that my initial and basic first aid was good, and offered advice as to what I should do to make it even better. Bailey was very scared and wanted to stay in his cat carrier, and Sylwia managed to examine and treat him in the carrier, with the most gentle and delicate touch. She told me what was clinically wrong, offered me a choice of 3 ways to treat him, and after choosing the option that didn't require me to give him pills, told me how to look after his wound over the next 3-4 days, and what to look out for which might necessitate a return visit.
