Had to say goodbye to my lovely dog Ezzie. She had been at my side for the last 16 years so I booked a home visit from the Ark Vets. I can't thank them enough for the caring/ gentle and professional way they handled my dog. The Vet and Vet Nurse ( sorry I did not catch their names ) explained the process to me and guided me through this very stressful time despite me being extremely upset. Sadly we had to say goodbye to our gorgeous 15yr old cat salt on Saturday morning, I can't express how amazing the staff were, we where seen within seconds of arriving as my poor baby was visibly suffering, we stayed with her while she fell asleep, heartbreaking does not even come close, today we received a beautiful card in the post with forget me not seeds in, I can't tell you how such a beautiful gesture has made us feel , especially when salt had a bad habit of eating all my flowers€so again thankyou for all you all did on Saturday and most of all giving me a smile today remembering the fun times with salt, I will be planting tomorrow xxx Read Less

After a bad experience with another Liverpool vet nearly 20 years ago we started to go to the Ark and we wouldn't go anywhere else..... all the staff are friendly, caring and go out of their way to help and support. Over the years with the Ark we have had 6 cats and 3 dogs and all have been treated with love and patience...... and every time one of them have had to go over the bridge (we now have just our 2 young dogs Lassie and Ruby) we have been shown compassion and a card with forget me not seeds have been sent to us.... I took my rabbit, Bruce, to the ark when he had a sore eye and found out he had a serious eye condition. All of the staff were very helpful in explaining the condition and the treatment that he needed. Unfortunately Bruce had to have his eye removed but recovered very well due to the fantastic after care and support he received. I have continued to use ark veterinary centre for a number of years now with no troubles. I have had consultations with Heidi, Sophie and other vet nurses who are all very caring and professional at their jobs. I couldn't reccomend them enough! Read Less

Sophie's lack of knowledge in treating my cat's UTI has resulted in him having kidney damage. A locum at Alderhey was stunned that his infection has been left untreated for so long - Sophie offered Loxicom which is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory (and apparently encourages haemorrhage), when he should have been on a course of antibiotics. I also lost count of the amount of times she referred me to Google because she didn't know how to explain things to me properly. The place has not been the same since Viv left - she was amazing. Sadly, Sophie is not. I won't be going back. Read Less

My male cat has been treated here for Urinary Tract Infection for about 12 months. He had an emergency op at Alderhey (which was excellent) and his aftercare was the job of a young new vet at Ark, called Sophie. Unfortunately, as soon as I met Sophie, she didn€t fill me with confidence€having to consistently leave the room to ask advice from colleagues, and constantly referring to Google. My cat has been suffering with the ongoing UTI and on my last visit to Ark, I was advised by Sophie that the only course of action was ongoing medicated food and a kind of herbal medication called Cystophan. The infection continued to worsen, so this week I have returned him to Alderhey where I was immediately advised that he has a very severe bacterial infection that has now given him kidney damage. The vet at Alderyhey has treated my cat with a course of antibiotics and diaroetics and already we€re seeing an improvement. He also asked me why Sophie hasn€t prescribed antibiotics sooner. Of course, I have no idea why she didn€t€.apart from the fact that my hunch about her was right - as nice as she is, she is completely incapable as a vet and I would urge anyone to NOT use the ARK in case they are landed with Sophie. Steer clear of her at all costs - you might as well just look on Google - because you€ll pay 26 for a consult, just for her to tell you to Google it. And my cat now has permanent kidney damage that could have been avoided had she known what she was doing. Useless. And I only gave the 1 star because I had to - if it had let me post zero stars I would have. Read Less

Fantastic and friendly service. They have been nothing but brilliant with us and Piggy. Although she isn't the biggest fan of the vet she is always greeted with a smile, cuddle and a little treat. Definitely recommend to anyone x Read Less

We had to take our cat Charlie here a few days ago and sadly he went to Rainbow Bridge. The staff were so lovely and made a very emotional time that little bit easier as they were so comforting and kind. After moving to Hale wood with my two cats I asked around for a good vet,the standard I was looking for had to match up to the excellent one I had used in Yorkshire,however the first vet I used could not help my first cat,he did not seem to be concerned I had to have her put to sleep, how I wish I had taken her to the Ark, my current cat is with them and I am always impressed with the facilities they have and the way she is treated, sadly her condition is not good, but still the vet was compassionate and caring she was clearly upset  giving me the bad news,I would not hesitate to recommend the Ark to any companion pet owner Read Less

After taking our 10 week old puppy Alfie to the vets for his first injections, our 11 year old dog Roxy was given a routine check up. During this they felt a large mass on what appeared to be her liver. They did all sorts of tests and referred her to the university veterinary hospital. They found a large tumour on her spleen, she had surgery to remove the spleen and tumour and a biopsy of the tumour was sent away for tests. We have since received the results which, thank god, came back as benign. We couldn't thank Ark vets more for the treatment, help and care they gave us during that stressful time, not only with Roxy but with our new pup too! Thanks guys :) Read Less

I had called in advance in something of a panic and the lady I spoke to was very reassuring and kind. She told me to come right away and they would look after him. As soon as I walked in the lady knew who I was and she asked me to take a seat. I only had to wait a few minutes before the vet called me in. The Vet I saw was so lovely. He was kind and caring and really made me feel better. Unfortunately the outcome of his examination was not good as my rat had to be put to sleep :( The vet offered me the option of operating on my rat but he said it was very unlikely that he would survive and it would cost me a lot of money. He did not pressure me into spending extra money and made sure he gave me the facts for both options so I could make an informed choice. I left the room, clearly very upset, and the receptionist gave me a tissue and made me a cup of tea, telling me to take my time and there was no rush. Whilst I was sitting recovering the vet came out to see me and said my rat had just drifted away and did not suffer, which made me feel better. When it was time to pay the receptionist seemed to be feeling very bad to have to charge me for putting my rat to sleep, but I understood that I had to pay. The staff were so lovely and kind at Ark. I haven't had cause to go back to a vets since then but if I did I would definitely go to Ark. Read Less
