I have been going to Rutland House over the years with my pets and have seen just about all the consultants there. I have recently been with my Dad and our Jess was being dealt with under the care of Tori Robinson, sadly last Monday on our way to see Tori Jess passed away in the car and the staff at reception were amazing and Tori was unbelievable she came out to the car with a stretcher with a nurse and carried her in for us. She sat us in a room and explained everything in detail and constantly checked how we were coping, her empathy throughout every visit was second to none and we felt valued and not just a number. Tori was always very thorough and always discussed Jess's treatment plan with us. On the sad day we were offered drinks constant support and care, reception staff lot the candle in respect which was so touching, Tori even sent us a beautiful condolence card from her and the team, we couldn't have wished for any better care. Sorry we couldn't vote for Tori in the Petplan Vet awards, but as I explained the nominations were closed. Hope you liked the flowers but we cannot repay you enough for all you have done for us all. Like I said on the card you are a credit to the veterinary world. Thanks so much xxx Shell Atherton & familyRead Less

After 2 operations our late mother's dogs' leg has been worsened, after a horrible 4 month recovery. Numerous disagreements with the vet Duncan midgley as to how we were informed and treated. We requested a refund of the 3000+ for the dreadful experience as there is nothing more that can be done for our dog. We are continually dismissed and have approached the royal veterinary college whom agreed we had serious concerns and referred us to a professional mediation service. After the mediation service had been dealing with Rutland house for nearly 3 months, Duncan Midgley now unilaterally refuses to deal further with them! Leaving us again dismissed and belittled. Our dog has very limited time left and has been left in pain on pain killers with kidney failure for his remaining days. Read Less

I visited this vets using the out of hours service because my 14 month old pup was vomiting blood and losing blood from her back end. The vet gave her an anti sickness needle which cost us 218 after the charge for out of hours. Well she didn't get any better and I phoned to see if I could go back in as she was getting worse quickly they said that they wouldn't be able treat her as they have to wait 24 hours after giving her the anti sickness needle and to phone back Monday morning if no better, we'll she started to fit and loosing a lot more blood and after being on the phone numerous times they eventually gave in and said I could take her in, only I didn't get the chance as she died within seconds of me getting off the phone. All comes all she had sepsis and it wasn't treated because this vet refused. I am currently going through the over heads to complain about this surgery especially the vet. 19 hours she lasted from start of being ill to the end. I will never use this vets again and will advise as many people as I can to not use them! I think they need to get vets that are more trained to cover the out of hours service instead of students!Read Less

My iguana Eugene was seen here yesterday for an amputation due to tail rot. I can not thank them enough for their knowlegde and respect. The vet, Molly I think her name is, was amazing and recommended a natural fracture amputation so her tail will grow back! Gene was back home the same day and is doing great. I would also like to congratulate all the staff on how immaculately clean the whole place is, how friendly all of the staff are and how they made made the whole process easy and calming. Read Less

I visited Rutland House yesterday with my cat Sherlock. We had been referred by my local vet for his skin issues. I adopted Sherlock from a cat rescue knowing he had issues but my vet recommended visiting Rutland for specialist treatment. I love the fact you have a cat waiting area and a dog area. Meaning Sherlock could be in a quiet area anyway from dogs who are more vocal about their dislike of being at a vets. Dr Sue Paterson was lovely and I knew she cared as much as I do about Sherlock. She spoke in terms that were non medical so there was no chance of me not understanding what she was diagnosing. The diagnosis was actually far simpler that I thought it would be and he will make a full recovery in time and live a full and activity life. We have a few follow ups but I am so happy with the service provided from Sue and the lovely reception staff. Yes a referral for a pre existing condition is on the front of it expensive but I was advised in advance of a approximate cost but it was no where near that at the time. If you have been referrred for a specific reason don't get phased by the price if your insurance can't cover it. It's more reasonable that you think.Read Less

Last week she was very unfortunate her disc went on her back and we can only presume as her rear end went, she had no control over her body, and she fell on her leg. We rushed her to Rutland house at 10 o'clock at night. On examination she was kept in to do a ct scan the following day, by mid morning she was being operated on. Fudge had to have spinal surgery and then Ian the vet also found when she landed on her leg that had also fractured in 2 places. It's been a week now fudge is still in Rutland house making a slow recovery, I think that is because she is so heavily bandaged on the broken leg.
