Unethical and unprofessional. I visited this vet to see the exotic pet 'specialists' as my guinea pig (Ollie) was not eating. I was told that he has spurs on his back teeth but that his incisors were an okay length. A dental would need to be performed and this may be an ongoing issue, was the advise I was given. I had the dental done that same day. After the operation, my guinea pig still wasn't eating. I was repeatedly told that they were happy with how his teeth looked, which they are now denying after a phone call with one of the vets - Molly. After what became a month of suffering for Ollie and stress for me, I was finally told that I had 2 options: have a dental every 2 weeks for the rest of Ollie's life, between which he would never be able to eat solid food, or have him put down. Upset and desperate, I took Ollie down to Northampton to see a different vet that had gotten great reviews. They told me that Ollie's moth was in shreds, his incisors were ridiculously long, he had massive ulcers and that his mouth was in such a mess that he physically could not close it. Poor dental work. He has another dental with the vets in Northampton and the next morning he was chewing his toys and picking up small bits of soft, solid food. It is completely unethical to offer to put an otherwise healthy animal down because of a mistake that the vet had made themselves. Over the phone, I was told that Rutland House Vets "are not able to provide the service that Ollie received in Northampton". Yet, they went ahead with, not one, but 2 dentals anyway. They have caused nothing but pain for this poor animal and charged be around £500 for the privilege. The only real concern I was met with was after I had notified the vat themselves that I will be making a formal complaint. Who knows how many other guinea pigs they have put down because of their lack of ability and knowledge. Read Less

DO NOT USE THIS VETS Too long to list all the reasons why, and the total devastation and upset this company has put my pet and Family through. In short their only interest is in making money not you or your pet. They charge for things which have not been performed. There is a total lack of any compassion or empathy especially when you have to have your pet put to sleep which is horrendous. They chose the cremation casket on our behalf, luckily we intercepted it but they still managed to get the casket wrong on two occasions so my beloved pet was switched over from casket to casket. They do not deal with complaints correctly, they do not listen but just threaten you with court action.
